い、今さら，本当に今さらだけど、ＤＶＤでロード・オブ・ザ・リングスをみた。
１本１７０分前後が２本と２００分が１本。
一日おきに３本続けてみた。
いやぁ。おもしろかった。
ライラの冒険がよかったのでちょっと見たかったんだけど止まらなくなって結局最後まで見てしまった。
いやぁ。しかし、登場人物の名前が覚えられず。
しかも似たような名前があったりすると、誰の事だったかまったく思い出せず。
今回は日本語字幕を読んでいったのですが、いやはや、よくストーリーがわからなかった。
翻訳調の古めかしい言葉が出てきたりする事もあるんだけど、やっぱりあの長い話を映画３本にまとめるのは無理があるのか・・・
途中で何回も旦那に聞かないとわからなかった。
例えばあのサム・・・。
友達なんだか、召使いなのだか、よくわからなかった。
で、旦那に聞いてみれば、その両方であるとのこと。
う～む。役者が今ひとつその辺を演じきれてなかったのと、
ホビットも読んでいない、これも原作も読んでいない私には、ホビットの世界がよくわからず、今ひとつあやふやな印象が残ってしまった。
これって英語の原作読んで、翻訳読んで、映画みて、映画の翻訳みて、と比べるとおもしろそうね。いや、やらないけど。
いやぁ。しかし、ハリーポッターに似ているなぁ。
もちろん、ロードオブザリングの方が古い話なわけだけど。
これをアイデアソースに使っているのではないかとさえ思ってしまいました。
あ。これって、ＬＯＳＴのチャーリーが１人のホビット役ででてるのね。あとは、白塗りのオーランドブルーム。

Well, I finally watched ‘Lord of the Rings’, from the first one to the last one. There were 3 DVD’s and the total lengths of the DVD’s were 170 + 170 + 200 = 540mins (9 hours). But I couldn’t stop it. At the end I was exhausted because of lack of sleep, and my eyes were hurt and red. Well, even when you get older, it is important to have some stupid times sometimes, I think.
This movie was famous, not only for the prizes they got, but for the translation problems for the Japanese one. After I watched these movies, I read lots of blogs and pages about this problem. I can’t say anything because some parts were already mended for the DVD’s, they said. I’m not sure about that. But I was wondering how many people read the English original books. And how many people could understand every single meaning of Tolkien’s words. My level isn’t good enough to understand and read his books. And how many people could understand the background of England, especially for that old time.
I’m always feel ‘thank you’ for translators. Because if I read the original books, it would take ages, and some books I couldn’t read anything and I even couldn’t get any ideas of these books. But on the other hand, I had so many times, that I was disappointed when the book I liked had been translated and the books were completely spoiled. After that, when I read the book which was translated to Japanese, I started to think that it is a guidebook. If you like it or not, my goal is always to read the original book.
I think English is a very difficult language for Japanese people, including me, the same as a lot of English people think Japanese is very difficult language, too.
