On May 25th ,My husband and I went to Seattle by plane.
It is abouｔ an 8 and a half hour flight from Narita.
The ｔime difference is 16hours. So we arrived in Seattle on the same day(at8:20am).
We went to Pier92 by shuttle bus and embarked MS Westerdum(ship) for a 7-day round trip. The biggest attraction is cruising Glacier Bay . There were about 1.900passengers. 95% were American but second largest group was Japanese(47people).There was a Japanese coordinator on the ship.
On May 26th ,the ship was at sea all day. We enjoyed eating and the events on the ship.
On May 27th, we arrived at the port of Alaska Juneau. We went to Mendenhall Glacier by bus.
It takes about half an hour and the round trip ticket was about ＄18 .The glacier and falls were very beautiful.Even though I imagined that the glacier was very cold, it was very hot day. So many people laughted and said"The Glacier was hot.
On May 28th, the ship cruised the Glacier Bay National Park.
Passengers saw the Glaciers from the ship. It was cold but very beautiful and impressive.
On May 29th, we arrived at Alasuka Sitka. The ship was so large that we landed by tender boat. Sitka was very cold and rainy. I heard that in Sitka it rains most of the time. We visited the church and walked around town and the park,saw many totem poles and many Bald Eagles.
Sitka was very beautiful port , like Matsushima in Japan.
From Sitka there is a Sea otter Quest tour.It was expensive,and I didn't join that excursion. So ,it was regrettable.
On May 30th, we arrived in Alaska Ketchikan.
We joined the duck tour. It was 90minutes tour by amphibious vehicles.At Ketchikan I ate clam chowder. It was served with oyster crackers.
I was surprised it was very thick and made me warm.
On May 31st we landed in Canada Victoria at8p.m. in the evening . We stayed in Victoria only 3hours. We went on a ship excursion to the Buchart Gardens . The gardens were lit up. Even though we stayed the gardens only 1 hour ,we enjoyed the beautiful flowers and the fountains were like fireworks. My favorite flower in the garden was the Himalayan blue poppy.
On June 1st we disembarked at Seattle .
At the airport, we ate clam chowder with crackers and fish and chips. At the branch of the famous restaurant it was very delicious.
Then we took the plane back to Narita
On the airplane I enjoyd the movie musical“le miserables”and the Disney animation.
So I wanted to stay on the airplane more.
For me,the most pleasure on cruise was eating.
For example,Egg Benedict,Mexican dishes,escargot,salmon,lobster,shrimps,steak,and sweets.
My favorite food was surf and turf(lobster and steak)..
And Alaska is very nice place.
The landscape is beautiful,the history is interesting .The people are kind.The food is delicious
Some day,I would like to visit Alaska and Victoria again.
