Students from Class B.

The Sister talked to us about 3 different designs of Mary.

Some people were deeply nodding with understanding as they listened to the history of Mary.

Understanding the circumstances of Mary and child helps to make an image of her.

But…

Rain started to fall heavily so we couldn’t draw Mary from the same places as Class A.I regret starting outside now as we had to change room.

But it turned out not to be a problem at all as we understood the meaning of the images of Mary from the Sister.

Everyone is serious.

As we were drawing we saw Mr.N which was a fun thing.

He was a 3rd grade teacher last year so remembered the students.

Even after changing grades the teachers want to see what the students are doing.

Ms. K is another homeroom teacher.

Everyone is impressed at how hard we are concentrating.

Even with teachers coming past everyone keeps looking at Mary.

In break-time we saw more teachers, Ms. T the Religion teacher and Mr. T the Science teacher.

“Oh, we were taught by you last year too”

 “Eh?! This year too?”

People have fun regardless of grade or class.

Everyone had been working really hard and seriously, but there was a sudden change.

Please do your best to show the expression.

Drawing Madonna and child(Grade4)

Our project is to make a print of Madonna and child.

Sister cam to talk to us about the 3 different images of the Mary which we will be sketching.

For each image there is a different meaning.

For example, in how she holds her feet.

One represents the state when she stepped on a snake.

This shows the strength in her mind to overcome the devil.

The second has her stepping over water which is likely to represent a scene from the fountain of Lourdes.

After listening to the meaning we selected an image we wanted to sketch.

Trying to show the strong, tender bond between Mary and the baby Jesus is the theme of our project.

We need to think about how to show facial expressions, what colours to use, and the composition of our picture.

To be able to show the feeling of prayer is important.

Some people thought about behind the statue.

You could use the coloured image to produce a stained glass window.

Walking past we had some words of encouragement from home-room teacher Mr.H.

“That’s pretty good! Do your best!’

He said kindly.

We have some great work.

Next time we’ll use a chisel to carve our work.

Let’s keep working with a feeling of good prayer within us!

 Students from class C.

Everyone was having lots of fun sketching and playing with the kendama.

Everyone has a happy face!

When people catch the kendama it makes a sound. As the ball lands on the dish; ker-plunk, it is a pleasant sound.

It is fun to draw someone playing.  You concentrate so you don’t miss any of the action.

Lots of people tried to do different moves with the bean-bags.

A good representation of the fingers in a Cat’s cradle.
