Work from Grade 1.

1) “The post-man” (above) and “Teacher reads a newspaper”(below)

We did “The post-man” in the first term, and “Teacher reads a newspaper” in 2nd term.

The subject of these was to see how to best use ‘red’, and thinking about expressions.

Students from the GC course wrote about their ‘The post-man’ work in English class.

2)“Friend fish”

We drew round our hands to make the scales.  There is a fish from Class A, B and C. This is the fish from class B.

3) Kate doll.

The dolls are the product of the student’s imagination. Each and every doll is totally different.

4)Mysterious egg.

Eggs were made from strips of paper.

We used the same technique, but made lots of new designs.

The work from the 1st grade was very impressive this year.

Work from Grade 5.

1)“A sketch from Josui Street”

Sketching here has been a tradition for 30 years.

“My Grandmother sketched here” someone said as we were working.

2)born from circles.

These animals were made from just circles. The animals seemed to take over the classroom.

3) “Dream box (in 15 years)”

I asked the students to imagine 15 years into the future. This is a popular activity for the students.

The students have done well to think of their own designs, and be able to use their imagination to make their own representations.

Work from Grade 3.

1) Teacher gets a hair-cut.

The hairdresser cut Mr. Y’s hair in front of us. We drew a picture.

2) Pottery challenge.

We made cups with handles from clay.

We thought about the colours and patterns on the cups and then put into glaze.

We made a coaster using a cutter knife.

3) Welcome to Futaba aquarium!

We cut some shapes from tracing paper.

Then added some features to the shape we cut out.

From this we made some sea creatures from our imagination.

The pottery work here is part of a trilogy with Grades 2 and 6. In Grade 2 we formed bowls from clay, and in Grade 6 we use a potter’s wheel.

The bright colours and patterns from Grade 3 are unique.

Work from Grade 2.

1) A rainy day, and A picture to tell a story.

While painting the rainy days pictures we experimented with letting colours ‘bleed’ together.

It was exciting to try using this new technique.

2) Yummy, Yummy food.

We represented the food and ingredients of food we find delicious using construction paper.

 3) Pottery challenge.

We hand moulded bowls from clay. After finishing it was baked in a kiln.

We have built upon modeling work which the students first practiced in Grade 1.

Work from Grade 4.

1) I like to play.

We had a theme of playing with bean-bags and ball games.

2)Made from paper.

These cities were made after 3 different people brought their work together to make a finished piece of work.

3)Futaba concert (From Grade 3)

This piece shows the instrument the students love to play.

We are showing this work from the end of Grade 3.

There are some very interesting pieces of work in the ‘Made from paper’ unit. It is nice to see people bring their work and ideas together.
