「縦糸（たていと）」の旅 / The journey of the "warp"

先日・9月27日、帰省をしてきました。
いつものように、自転車を持って電車に乗り、途中下車をして峠を超えての旅でした。身体に負荷を掛けて、体調の回復具合の確認も兼ねて、墓参りをして、兄に会い、贈り物をして、前回と変わらぬ旅程でしたが、「縦糸（たていと）」の存在に改めて気づかされた一日になりました。

On September 27th, I went back home. As usual, I took my bike on the train, got off along the way and went over a mountain pass. It was a very physical exercise, and it also served as a way to check on my physical condition, so I visited my brother's grave, met him and gave him a gift. It was the same itinerary as last time, but it was a day that reminded me once again of the existence of the "vertical thread."

 

日頃、毎日過ごしている日常が「横糸」の連続だとすれば、「縦糸」があってこそ人生という布が織れるのでしょう。 独り身で、まるで “根無し草” の様に好きな事ばかりを追求している僕だからこそ、「縦糸」が恋しくなるのかも知れません。

If the daily routine that we spend every day is a series of "wefts," then it is only with the "warp threads" that we can weave the cloth called life. Because I am single and pursue only what I like like "rootless grass", I may miss the "warp".

ポルシェ 特許出願の 6ストローク・エンジン / Porsche patents six-stroke engine

ポルシェが特許出願した「6ストローク エンジン」が、一部の人々の間で話題になっています。しかし、同社が正式に発表した資料で知られたのではなく、恐らく、出願してから 18ヶ月が経過して、特許公開期間に入ったからでしょう。

出願時に提出された資料の一部が入手できましたので、改めて考察をしてみたいと思います。
　

最初に注目したのは ストロークの長さです。 120㎜ 近くもあり、同社の SUV「マカン」の 3リッター V6エンジン のストローク が 69㎜ である事を考えても長い事です。ただ、単気筒の試験用エンジンを製作して試験を行なっている可能性もあります。

次に注目したのは、独特の機構でストローク長を変化させているのですが、上死点と下死点ともに、それぞれ約 20㎜ 近く伸びている点です。 クランク角 0度 から吸気を始めて、180度から 圧縮行程にはいりますが、そこからストローク長が伸びるので、吸気を始めた際の上死点を超えて更に圧縮して、約360度 で点火・爆発となっています。
そして、ここから 最も長い膨張行程に入ります。ここだけに注目すると、エンジンの熱効率を追求する “アトキンソンサイクル” が想起されます。 つまり、高効率を追求した開発が顔を出しているのです。

そして、540度では、下死点が 約 20ｍｍ 下がり、シリンダー壁面に設けられた「掃気ポート」から新気の導入と燃焼ガスの排気を同時に進めます。ここが 2ストロークエンジンと同じ仕組みで、720度 で点火・爆発 となのですが、ここにも 熱効率を高める仕組みが入っていそうです。 つまり、新気導入の際、シリンダーヘッドの排気バルブを閉じるのを遅らせて、実質的な圧縮行程を短くして、点火・爆発の次に続く 膨張行程（ここでは 短ストロークに切り替わっています）を 圧縮行程と比較して長くしている可能性があります。これも、アトキソンサイクルの考え方の応用で、熱効率を高めるのに役立つでしょう。
 
以上の特徴から、この特許は高回転・高出力 という目的で開発されているのではなく、内燃機関の熱効率を高める事を目的としていると思われます。応用範囲としては、ガソリン以外の代替燃料を用いた 発電用内燃機、例えば 電動の大型船舶の発電ユニットなど、脱炭素による地球温暖化対策で あらゆる乗り物が電動化へと進む中で、貴重な内燃機としての勝呂を切り開くのかも知れません。 或いは、膨張するクラウドシステムにより電力需要は高まる一方の現代で、社会インフラ・電力網を支える スマートグリッドに寄与できる可能性もありそうです。

As for future uses, it is believed that the engine will not only be used as a high-revving, high-output sports car engine, but that as all vehicles, including not only automobiles but also airplanes and ships, are moving toward electrification, it is believed that the engine will be used as a valuable power generation unit that takes advantage of the unique characteristics of internal combustion engines.

一年前よりも、体調は少し良くなっているので、
今年は、これで走ります。
少しずつ走って、リハビリを始めます。

So, this year, I will ride with this.

I will ride little by little and start rehabilitation.

兄への贈り物を持って、帰省 / Returning home with a gift for my brother

8月31日、兄への贈り物を持って、台風から逃げる様に、帰省しました。
On August 31, I returned home with a gift for my brother to escape the typhoon.

 

主要鉄道の運旧の影響か、ワンマン車両には僕一人
I was the only one in the one-man train, probably due to the outage of the main railroad line.

この路線、始発と終着駅以外は無人駅

This line is unmanned except for the first and last trains as usual, 

いつもの様に、途中駅で下車して峠越え
I got off at a station on the way and crossed a mountain pass.

峠のトンネル超えると大雨、打たれながら走り

兄に会い、以前は出来なかった会話が進む。

雨が上がって、帰路に就き、また帰省の予定を模索しています。

it was raining heavily, and I was drenched as I drove.

I met my brother and we had a conversation that I couldn't have before.

The rain stopped, so I started on my way home and am now thinking about plans to go home again.
