『イベントで実験 vol.4』の続きです。
wavに匹敵するような高音質なmp3は存在するのでしょうか？
wavをmp3に変換するLAME（レイム）というソフトがあります。
1998年から開発が続けられていて
最新のLAME v3.99.5の評価はとても高いようです。
そこで、iTunesで変換したmp3と、
LAMEで変換したmp3を比較してみました。
音源は「星に願いを / サリナ・ジョーンズ」と「養老鉄道百景 / スギテツ」です。
ビットレート320Kで変換したところ
出来上がったmp3ファイルのサイズは
iTunesでもLAMEでも同じサイズでした。
音質ですが、
高域に違いがあります。
LAMEのほうが5kHz以上の高域が自然に出ているように感じました。
低域や音場にあまり違いは感じられません。
iTunesで変換するより、わずかに高音質になっていると思いました。

Does high-quality sound mp3 which is equal to wav exist?
There is software called LAME which changes wav into mp3.
Development is continued from 1998.
Evaluation of newest LAME v3.99.5 is very high.
Then, mp3 changed by iTunes,
mp3 changed by LAME was compared.

and "Yoro-tetsudo Hyakkei / Sugitetsu"
It changed by the bit rate 320K.
Changed mp3 was the size same at iTunes and LAME.
Sound quality:
A difference is in a high region.
The LAME of treble of 5 kHz or more is more natural.
A difference is seldom felt for bass or an acoustic field.
I thought that it was high-quality sound slightly rather than having changed by iTunes.
