We were practicing how to use a cutter knife.

It seemed that some people had used one at home, while others were using one for the first time.

Everyone needed to be careful not to cut themselves.

We practiced cutting straight lines and curves.

Then used both to make a pattern.

After practicing how to use the cutter knife we tried to make a coaster.

It can be a coaster for the cup from Term 1.

Eevryone was doing well after some practice.

Look at this intricate design!

Some people put two different colours and patterns together to try to make a contrast in colours and patterns.

Students from Class C.

I was in the titles of this work.

”The teacher gets his hair-cut” is the title we used.

It was a bit scary having my name as the title of their work…

Is it a good title?

We did an exchange activity and wrote our ideas about the work and the project.

We looked at different people’s work.

We put our opinions down as messages to the artist, and wrote which parts of the pictures we liked.

’The teacher gets a hair-cut’ exchange activity.

There were 2 things to think about.

①   What do you think when you see what is drawn? Why is that?

②   What does the ‘voice’ of the painting say to you? How does it say this?

Thinking about the form and colour when we look at the work.

I will introduce some pieces of work.

 Miss YH’s work ‘Mr. Y gets a cool hair-cut’

I see the way Mr.M is standing with his legs apart.

My eyes are drawn towards Mr. Y’s haircut as I can see how hard the hair-dresser is concentrating.Mr. Y has a serious expression as he sits and waits to see his hair-cut.

                                          From Miss MY

Here is another piece of work, and I spoke to the artist.

 Miss KS’s work ‘A hair-cut’

I worked hard to draw my picture of Mr. Y getting his haircut.

I’ve drawn the best expression of Mr. M.

You can feel the image here by looking at the expression of Mr. M!

We have the pottery glaze which we made in the 1st semester.

The glaze had settled to the bottom of the bucket after not being stirred. We stirred it now, turning our rod slowly from the bottom.

“Fu-fu-fu-fu, it’s like a witch stirring a cauldron!’

と喜んでいます。Someone said.I’m in the mood to make a magic potion.

It is really like a magic potion, when it is baked hard it will cover stone with a glass-like quality.

Some people work together to stir the heavy rod.

In 2nd grade we used a glaze and painted it on with a brush.

You can choose 2 colours from 4 to add to the glaze for the work.

Pink and light blue were popular colours.

I look forward to the kiln!

For this work there are many important things to think about. What palette we use, how to use the colours, and how to use a wash.

Being able to concentrate on your work without worrying about other things is an important part of painting.

Getting an unexpected comment or compliment from the teacher can cause some surprise, even though that wasn’t the intention.

I think that you can tell that someone was happy when they did their work just by looking at it.
