Goryokaku Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom, Traveling with the Goryokaku Cherry Blossom Experts on NHK!
NHK Hokkaido “Hot News Hokkaido” aired me as the main character of Hakodate Goryokaku sakura testimonial! There was no profit, but the whole family was in a melting pot of joy. .......

As previously reported, I took a mid-week day off yesterday to visit Goryokaku in Hakodate, southern Hokkaido, to see the sakura (cherry blossoms).
Generally, during the consecutive holidays around Golden Week, it is a standard practice for couples to visit cherry blossom viewing spots in southern Hokkaido, such as Goryokaku and Esashi.
Yesterday, the temperature in Hakodate was less than 10 degrees Celsius when we arrived, and the wind was so strong that it was chilly and made me want a down jacket. The cherry blossoms were still firmly attached to the branches, and even though they were in full bloom, the blossoms had not yet begun to bloom.
So I started to take selfies at the spot where I come every year to take a shot of the cherry blossoms, Mount Hakodate and Goryokaku Tower.
I had encountered some camera crews on my way here, but I didn't pay any attention to them and just took selfies.
Then the camera crew came up to me and said, “Excuse me, we're from NHK.
It was a weekday, so even though there were a few people there, we didn't see many couples. So, it seems that we were chosen for the event. Or perhaps my wife's jacket was quite flashy, so it caught people's attention.
The subject of the interview was, of course, the cherry blossoms in full bloom in Goryokaku,
 Where are you from?
From Sapporo. I think Goryokaku is the best place to see sakura every year, so I came here.
And so on. In addition to the shots shown on the screen, they also filmed me pointing the camera at my wife.
 After the filming was over,
After the filming, he said, “It will be in the Hot News Hokkaido program this evening, but there is also a film crew at Maruyama Park in Sapporo, so I don't know which one they will use.
I'm not sure which one we'll use.” ‘I wonder how it will turn out picture-wise,’ he said.
I'm not sure which one we're going to use,” he said.
Since we were in the middle of our trip, we couldn't record the video on time, so we had no choice but to take video at that time on the TV screen in the hotel. I let my family know about it, so both parents and children were in the same position for the time.
It was a story to make them feel better, but since this corner was showing Mt. Hakodate in the background during the time related to the weather forecast, I thought to myself, “This is going to work....
So, following the opening cut of the cute girl and cherry blossoms, it seemed to be adopted “pictorially,” and was on the air for about 20 seconds, including the couple's conversation.
The family and I were simultaneously excited “Yay!” on social networking sites (laughs).
The pale pink of the cherry blossoms, the distant view of Goryokaku Tower and Mount Hakodate in the background, and Kami's yellow jacket were probably the reasons for the “pictorial” victory.
Since we were exposed to the cold wind, we entered the hotel early and soaked in the hot spring slowly to relieve the cold from our core, and we were wrapped in joy as a couple and family as one.

Sapporo Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom in Less Than Two Weeks from Osaka
Sapporo is the second fastest city in history to be declared in “full bloom”. I'm afraid that the season is changing so fast that it makes me dizzy, but I will be on vacation for two days starting today. I am sorry for the inconvenience. I will be on vacation for two days from today.

It is splendid....
It was quite sunny in Sapporo yesterday, but the maximum temperature was about 11 degrees Celsius in Chuo-ku. The maximum temperature was about 11 degrees Celsius in Chuo Ward, but the sunlight remained quite strong.
Under such circumstances, cherry blossoms were declared “in full bloom” on the 21st. The cherry blossoms were declared to be in full bloom earlier than in Hakodate, a famous cherry blossom spot in southern Hokkaido.
The sakura front this year was a bit late nationwide, but in Hokkaido, it was the second earliest ever observed. This means that this weekend, before Golden Week, will be the best day to view the cherry blossoms.
I was in the Osaka area on April 10 and saw cherry blossoms for the first time this year, but the front has arrived so early. Even in Obihiro in the east of Hokkaido, the cherry blossoms are already in full bloom.
Although there was a lot of snowfall and the cold was quite severe this winter, the temperature rose at a rapid pace from there. The photo shows cherry blossoms along a main road in Nishi Ward, Sapporo, and they are as beautiful as those in the Kansai region of Honshu. As I age, I become totally vulnerable to this kind of natural beauty (laughs).
In fact, I am taking a two-day vacation from today to go on a cherry blossom tour in southern Hokkaido, and I wonder how Goryokaku and other cherry blossom spots will greet me.
So, I will write today's blog early and go out early in the morning. Well, let's see.

We respectfully announce our intention to continue eating natto. Declaration of Continuation of Natto Diet!
We obtained a crisp notice from the doctor that "Natto is not guilty for the drug we ordered. We are sorry for the misinformation we sent out, and we will correct it immediately.

I would like to apologize and correct the content of my blog posted yesterday.
There has been a great deal of information spread on social networking sites about certain diseases, as if natto has a negative effect on them, but due to my own ongoing health problems, I wrote yesterday that I would avoid eating natto as a "self-defense" measure, so to speak, without asking or checking with a medical specialist.
Yesterday, I was not feeling well, so I went to see the doctor before my bi-monthly checkup and asked him about natto when he gave me his instructions.
The doctor replied, "Natto is not a problem at all. We are not administering any drugs with such risks. If that were the case, I would have told you to avoid it.
As the recipient of this answer, I deeply regret that I wrote this blog without sufficient certainty. Therefore, I thought that I should also honestly report such circumstances.
Although I did not specify the name of the disease, I received some replies from readers based on their assumptions, and I deeply apologize for any misunderstanding I may have caused or any inaccuracies in what I wrote.
So, after staying away from natto for a few days, I have decided to ask it to return again as the main menu and mainstay of my breakfast again, starting today. After all, I feel sorry for natto. I am sorry that I was misled by natto, even though it was my "desperate decision".
I also misunderstood about the "medication notebook" in the photo.
When the "medication notebook app" came out, I immediately adopted it with a light heart, saying, "Oh, this is good, isn't it? However, when I told this to another pharmacy yesterday, I was accurately informed that the app is not available at that pharmacy, because it is not available at all pharmacies. I was informed accurately that the app can be used in some pharmacies and not in others.
I had assumed that the new smartphone application system would ensure the "commonality" of the medication handbook, but I was informed that this was in fact the case. This is another misunderstanding caused by ignorance. So, I have decided to ask the analog notebook to work again. I am ashamed to say this.
Today, I am ashamed to report two of my "misunderstandings. I apologize for the misinformation.

[Modification of "Mainstay of Food" from Natto to Nagaimo for Physical Conditioning
Sad to say goodbye to natto, a favorite Japanese food. However, a long-time friend called "grated yam" will help us out instead. Health comes first. ...

What do you like to have for breakfast?
I have been using the "breakfast set menu" on the right side of the photo. I used to eat natto (fermented soybeans), wasabi (Japanese horseradish), chopped green onions, nori tsukudani (seaweed tsukudani), namenake mushrooms, and grated yam to finish off the meal. With these as the main ingredients, my wife would make a hearty omelet and vegetable salad for me, and I would eat about 20 items for breakfast, which I considered healthy.
However, in light of recent changes in my health condition, I changed the management policy. I changed it to the one on the left side of the picture. In other words, natto is good, but it is a little difficult for my body.
Although natto was excluded from the set, there was no significant change in taste, and the set has been successfully passed on to the next set of ingredients. However, I have continued to make and serve the same set for my other family members. It is a kind of "joie de vivre" (laugh).
After all, as we age, our bodies send us signals here and there. Each time this happens, I report it to my doctor and undergo a full-scale checkup at a general hospital, etc. Based on the results, the doctor gives me appropriate medication.
Other people may look at me surprised (laugh), but I am a very obedient type of person, so I have been following the doctor's orders almost to the letter. Natto is innocent of any crime, and I am sorry to say that it is my favorite, but I have requested it to leave the breakfast menu.
I will wait and see the results of this improvement in my eating habits with great anticipation.
Even though we human beings have reached a certain point of closure, we still have a strong desire to do this and that. I think it is most important to keep that kind of "motivation" alive. In fact, perseverance and continuity are essential for the concepts and projects that I am currently working on. It has taken me several weeks just to get a grasp of the whole project, and I am finally at the stage where I have a good idea of about 2/3 of the total project. Since we are only "grasping the whole picture," we are prepared for the fact that it will take a considerable amount of time to complete the project.
Physical strength comes first in everything. I am still not ready for natto, but I have made up my mind to stay away from it.

Before the advent of the car, the "wooden boat" was a tool for human free movement.
A traditional means of free movement that is metaphorically similar to the modern "personal car. I really sympathize with the unique rolling motion of the boat in the familiar sea, which was used for fishing. I have a lot of sympathy for the "rolling" of the boat in the sea around us.

I was an adolescent in the 1960s, when Japan's postwar society was starting up. It was a time of great social transformation toward the first Tokyo Olympics, but it was also a time when "motorization" was in the process of becoming commonplace. My family was in the food manufacturing business and located in Sapporo. Cars were introduced to "deliver" products, and the number of cars increased dramatically as the business expanded.
As the city infrastructure was developed, paved roads were expanded. In the beginning, the road maintenance methods for cold regions were inadequate, and uneven road damage occurred frequently due to freezing during the winter. Eventually, roads were built to below freezing depths, and a society of "freedom of movement" took root in the Japanese archipelago in earnest.
For those of us who have lived in the midst of such social changes, the car is the means of ensuring freedom of movement, but what functioned in human society before that time, as if there was one car in the family, was the "marukibune," a boat that used water transportation.
The "townscape" of the boathouses in Ine, which are called "kyo-machiya" of the sea, and the sight of the houses seen from the sea, with each house having a boat attached to the shoreline, is just like a "carport" of a modern house.
The houses are said to have been used mainly for fishing as part of the seafaring culture, but I was impressed by the freedom of movement that was secured in the houses.
This time, I saw an exhibition of such wooden boats at an old private house garden in Toyonaka, Osaka, and I couldn't resist pinning them up.
The boats were not called "marukibune," but rather "kuribune," which means "dugout boat. The word "kuribune" is reminiscent of the act of "hollowing out," but the description of the production process makes me realize that it is a very direct expression.
The boat in the back of the photo above is Shimane Prefecture's "Sorikobune," which was used in the "Nakaumi" region of Shimane Prefecture until around the 1970s, and its unique "rolling" characteristics made it very convenient for catching red clams. It is similar to the "driving sensation expression" of a car, such as "small turn", which is interesting and satisfying from a physical point of view.
In the foreground of the photo is a "kuri-bune" used in the Amami Oshima region. It is a small boat about 3m long made of hollowed out round pine, iju, tabu and other trees, and there is a record of 200 boats with crusts being active in the late Edo period. These boats were made by the villagers' joint efforts, and 2-3 people used them for fishing such as Spanish mackerel poking, kibinago fishing, and squid pulling, which are unique to the island. It seems to have a similarity to the modern way of life in which people take to the paved road to go shopping at a suburban supermarket.
It gives us a vivid sense of the primitive "freedom of movement" of human beings.
