How loose and easy hence to go:
How girt and ready to ascent,
Moving but on a point below,
It all about upward bent.
Such did the manna's sacred dew distill,
White and entire, though congealed and chill,
Congealed on earth: but does, dissolving, run
Into the glories of the almighty sun.

　　おちるはいかにたやすいか
　　昇るため　いかに身がまえしたくしたか
　　地の上の　ただひとところをうごきつつ
　　ひたすらに　上へと心かたむけて
そのような　たましいが　マナの聖なるしたたりを醸し取り出したのだ
白くまったき　凍てついた
地上に凍りつくものを　けれど溶ければ
全能の　太陽の　誉れのもとへといたる
