日月燈明仏
Buddha Nichigatsu Tōmyō
六十小劫にわたって
During sixty small kalpas
この経を説き終える
Having finished preaching this sutra
すぐに梵天と魔天に向けて
Immediately addressing Brahma and Mara
出家修行者
Ascetics or monks
インドの司祭階級
Brahmins (priestly class)
および天界の存在に
And the celestial beings
人間に対して
Humans
阿修羅たちの集まりの中で
Among the Asura assembly
そしてこの言葉を宣べる
And proclaimed these words
如来は今日の真夜中に
The Tathagata, in the middle of the night today
無余涅槃に入ることにした
Should enter complete Nirvana
その時、菩薩がいた
At that time, there was a Bodhisattva
名前を徳蔵という
Named Tokuzō (Treasure of Virtue)
日月燈明仏は、
Buddha Nichigatsu Tōmyō,
すぐにその記を授ける
Immediately bestowed a prophecy
多くの比丘に告げる
Told the monks
この徳蔵菩薩は
This Bodhisattva Tokuzō,
次に仏となるべき者である
Will next become a Buddha
名号を浄身という
Named as Jōshin (Pure Body)
多陀阿伽度阿羅訶三藐三佛陀という仏の尊称
A title for a fully enlightened Buddha
