ブリティッシュ・コロンビアからフェリーでアラスカに入り、カナダのユーコン準州を通って再びアラスカから、フェアバンクス、デナリを経てアンカレッジを目指す。
行く手には、大自然がつかさどる最後の大地が広がっている。北アメリカの最高峰マッキンリーを擁するアラスカ最大の自然保護区の1つ、デナリ国立公園。先住民はこの神秘的な場所を、特別な名前で呼んでいる。タイガとツンドラの間の静寂の道をゆく。
