Jamy, I hate your alias, I reay do and so much so,
I decided to change it to Conchita, coming naturally
from "concepcion" in the language of the spaniards.

I will stay with it from now on!

Concave knife, wooden cutlery, chopstics container

2008-06-03 16:58:27 | Weblog
Today started with the coating, C3, and after that
I had some paper work to do and dashed to the town
office for some certifying documents.

All is now set for posting of the documents, tommorrow.

As a result, the time I could spend on my artstic ?
activities was very limited. In addition, I dare say
that I do not know what I am trying to achieve!

Take a look at this image, a bit blurred.

These are my renewed attempt at the chopstick containers.
They are not rounded at any of the sharper edges and corners.

This makes me think. Chopsticks are placed, pararell, in one
of the trenches. They are, altogether, not protruding from the
trench.

Then, why the hell do I need another trench shown by the
side of it? Can I not use a plain closer?, with magnets,
of course at both ends?

Better still, do I really need magnets?, which are
costly, anyway. Can I not clip out pieces from a Velcro and use them
instead?

I am attracted to this idea, because, the magnetic attraction
is only 0.15KG in force, good enough, but Velcro would be much
stronger. Of course, I will need a disk, or a square protrusion,

but, they are easy to form, anyway.

This is where in fact, I have this nagging thought. It is
a fundamental question. Do we at all need containers?

Girls wanting to eat pretty in office corners
must be bringing theirs wrapped up by something handy.
Why can they not have chopsticks in the gap spaces?

After all, with the URL of yesterday they are talking about
wrapping of the chopstics with a piece of cloth, which, to me,
is a messy business.

Girls do want to eat pretty and smart, fine, and that
means no rattling of chopsticks in the hard containers.

With yesterday's test tube containers, rattling was
not a problem. Actually, with mine of today, rattling
is not there, bacause of the contact between them.

It was not intentional, but, if you go for that sort of thing,
you need precision engineering! Do I want that?

Now, take a look at the following illustration.

B is the Velcro pieces on top of each other, and I am
asking myself if the pointed ends of my chopsticks might
just about squeeze into the gap. It is a thought, and

can only be verified in an experiment. Another thought of
mine is reflected in C. The whole thing about my
current attempts is that the end results are just too large and bulky.

With C, the rattling will not be there. On the other ahnd,
chopstics are exposed, so what, I may say. An advantage might
be that the dip there might serve as a chopstics holder.

D is the Velcro piece seen from above. What do you thinnk?

Anyway, another of today's activities was to come up with an
additional tool for removing polyps (or, blips) from my
SP like objects.

If they are found to have formed on the +ve curvature
side that is not a big issue. I can use straight and
sharp edges to remove them.

If, however, they are found deep on the concave surface,
I have to struggle. In doing that I might damage
the peripherals, with the straight edges.I need something else!

Take a look at the following pic.

This is the tool dentists use for removing dental plaques.
I bought this for something else, and for that something
else, I deliberately unsharpend the edges. I do not

rmember what I had in mind. Anyway, the edges were resharpened,
with the diamond disk.

However, that was not good enough. Illustration's A is
showing the cross-section of the useful end of it.

It is basically a triangle, for its structural strength.
I need to remove this ridge in the middle, tommorrow.
With the ridge as it is, I need to incline the

whole tool too much to my liking. It is not functioning as
as a very small knife, at all! not just yet!

Jamy, I really hate your alias, despite it being
my own creation!

デモね、チョット引っかかるのよね!
I have a nagging thought about it, though...

(Erica used this particular expression with me, she
was a German, and I would have thought that non-natives
would not be aware of this expression, so I was

a little surprised when she said this. That is from a
distant memory of mine!)

多分、ドウノコウノだって思うわ!
I dare say that dounokouno!

She is the one who holds the purse strings!

ドウノコウノらしいね、聞いた話では。。。
I gather that dounokouno...

Jamy, this should be enough for today. I go.
I just wonder if Jamy is a common name, at all ...

My chopstics and containers, low carbon

2008-06-02 17:03:42 | Weblog
What prompted me today was yesterday's article about
portable chopstics and assorciated containers.

However, I now first talk about coatings. Below shows
my way of coating.

What you are looking at are effectively my paint brushes.
Proper brushes are costly, something like JPY 100,
in the least.

With those, you naturally use thinners, but again,
they are costly, too. On top of that, you cannot
remove polyurethane completely. So, after something like

half a dozen repeated uses of the same brush, you will
have to abandon it for a new one. The objects you see in
this photo remove all the difficulties in coating.

A piece of cotton is just wound around
a piece of wooden stick, fixing it with a rubber band,
and off you go! After use, you just throuw it away!

This, in fact, revolutionalised my coating process.
It is one of my inventions! My current lot are on C2.
Before talking about today's main topic, I show you another photo.

These are part of today's work, after coating, which took up
something like 3 hours. They are extremely shallow cavity
SPs, plus rounded (arounde the peripherals) propellars.

At the top of this page I wanted to show you one of
recent trends in easting, that is, what they call "My
chopsticks" for eco purposes.

Scroll down a bit, and you will find what I mean.
In the meantime, two photos as per below.

This is showing you chopstics are placed in the
container anti-paralell, which is awkward in reality.
Illustration A rfers to this arrangement.

However, there are real issues, re bits, re size of
the containers. They need to be as small and feminine and elegant
as possible for offic girls at lunch times.

I am torn between the capacity of my tools and feminity!

While being at all this, I panicked. I could not say that I can reproduce my 175 mm chopsticks for girls. In desperation, I tried it
again and this photo is the output. I can now happily say

I can reproduce feminine short chopsticks!

I will talk more comprehensively about chopsticks.
They look simple, they are not!

So, what is today's concluding remark?

I entirely endorse MY CHOPSTICKS and I can
do something about it, in particular, on the
container front.

Without them, there will be reluctance on the
part of the office girls. I will produce
something attractive! Watch out for this space!

Cabbage SPs, coating stage C1, the shuttle?

2008-06-01 16:07:45 | Weblog
I wonder what happened to the shuttle launch.
Isn't that supposed to be in the early hours of today?

Anyway, today was just like yesterday, except for
the regular Kamakura thing. The route was in absolute
caos!

It took me something like 3 hours, removing the polyps
from more than 120 artefacts, and coating them. They are
now on C1. Here are 2 images.

They were already looking glossy, after 3 coatings
wth A. They are now going to be even glossier, with
6 further coatings with C, before being suddenly made mat!

Earlier, I talked about polyps, touching slightly on
removing of them. I tell you a little more.

There are those you can immediately identify, mostly
on the positive curvature of the stems, very occasionally
on the peripherals of the cavity.

Identifiables are easy to remove. However, there are
so many other tiny blips you need to remove as well.
Trouble is that you cannot see them. They are so tiny.

What you have to do is to feel around down the entire length of
each artefact. If you feel something you slide sharp edges
around that area. That is about the only way for

removing very tiny blips. So, with more than 120 of them,
you can well imagine the time it takes to complete
the entire operation, leaving a limited time for

anything else for the day.

Still, I managed to fabricate the second of the large,
deep cavity SP. Photos are shown below.

This is after 2,3 minutes with the SPIKY. Below is shown
the photo after 15minutes, or, thereabout. Top end of
the SPIKY is also seen.

Now, I have 2 cabbage SPs, as shown below.

You may now ask what these SPs are meant for.
My answer to that is "I do not know!" I made them
just for the fun of it.

While forming the concave surface for today's I was
wondering how I made the few earlier SPs. I am
dead certain that I did not have my SPIKY then.

I also remember that one professional cook
bought one of these, praising it extremely
higly. That was when? 3 years back by now?

It simply amazes me that I was able to form
the same cavity, without my SPIKY. How long might it
have taken, I do not know.

Altogether, though, I pride myself on achieving
all these. I have come a long way to where I stand now.
Always trying to improve my skills, and my tools...

I really feel like crying on somebody's shoulder!

A postcript, you know something?
Switching from Japanese to Engllish
was good. I do not get even a single junk comment!

I should have done this much earlier!
