PTAの活動なんて、できればやりたくないなあと思っていたし、だいたい何をやっているのかもよくわかってなかった。
それでも子供が小学校に在籍中には必ず参加しなくてはならなくて、その番が回って来てしまった。
保護者のための、子育てや教育などを学ぶ講演会を企画する成人委員というものに選ばれ、その上くじ引きで運悪く副委員長なる座を引いてしまったよ～～～。。。。
めんどくさい～～～
と、文句を言っても何にもならないのダ。
しかたない。
やるからには楽しむべし！！
同じくくじ引きで委員長の座を射止めてしまったHさん。
フィットネスインストラクターをしていて、笑顔がはちきれそうな元気印の人。
なんだかわからないけど意気投合してしまい、委員会や打ち合わせの度に、夫や子供のこと、やりたいことややってきたことなんかをベラベラしゃべり合っていたら楽しくなって、じゃあ今度は他の委員のメンバーも巻き込んで飲み会だってことになった。
で、先週末。
今年度成人委員初の飲み会
これが予想以上に楽しくて、みんな連れて来た子供のことなんかほったらかしで４時間も飲んでしゃべって、、、。
フランスに８年住んで帰国したばかりの人、途上国援助の活動でアフリカに行き３年働いたという人。
（冷蔵庫なんてものはなく、電気がしょっちゅう止まったり、日中は暑さで仕事にならないというような過酷な状況だったって！）
４人も子供がいる人や、障害のある子供を持っている人や、、、。
はあ～、いろんな人生があるんだなあ、、と感心することしきり。
校長が意外にも面白いということがわかったり、学校の様子も見えて来たり。
こうしてユニークな親たちと友達になれるし、PTAの活動も悪くはないな。
小学校って親も一緒に作っていくもんなんだと、あらためて感じている。
子供が低学年の早い時期に学校と関わっていける機会が持てたのはよかったかも、、、
I wasn't interested in the PTA.
I didn't even know what they actually do.
But all parents must be involved in it while their child is in school.
I'm participating in it this year and am assigned as a member of a committee which plans study exhibitions for parents.
I felt unlucky to be chosen as a member and more unlucky to be chosen a sub leader by ballot.
BUT, complaining doesn't change anything.
So I decided to try to enjoy it!
Mrs. H, a leader who was also chosen by ballot, is a fitness instructor.
She is very bright and aggressive.
We hit it off quickly for some reason and talked a lot about kids, husbands, what we've done and what we want to do.....
And then we came up with the idea of having a drinking party with the other members.
And we had our first party last weekend.
It was more fun than I expected.
Some of us brought our kids but we didn't pay much attention on them; just talk, talk, talk... for 4 hours!
One parent just came back from France after living there for 8 years.
One worked in a developing African country as a member of an NPO for 3 years.
(They didn't have fridges there. They often had blackouts. It was too hot to work during the day time. Such hard conditions!!)
One has a disabled kid.
Three of the members have 4 kids for each!
It it very interesting to know there are such a variety of lifestyles.
I found out that the principal of our kid's school is kind of a funny guy, and found out about the school itself.
I got some new and unique friends from working for the PTA.
It isn't so bad, is it??
I just realized that we parents are also participating in the administration of the school.
It turned out to be good that I got a chance to work on that early in my son's school life.
