キンデルダインの風車群 (Windmills in Kinderdijn)

フランスへ戻る前に、友人と2人でキンデルダインの風車群を観にいきました。
オランダでもこれほど風車が残っている地域は他にないようで、
世界遺産にも登録されています。

ロッテルダムからすぐのところにあるのですが、
何分交通の便が悪いので、インターネットで調べた後、車で訪れました。
車で行けば簡単なんですが、公共交通機関だと
列車とバスを乗り継がないといけないようです。

友人が珍しがるほど天気も良くて、
オランダ名物の風車を十二分に満喫することが出来ました。^^
今回はチャイルドシートがなかったので、彼の家族を連れてくることが
できませんでしたが、是非とも家族でまた訪れて欲しいですね。

Before coming back to France, my friend and I visited Kinderdijn
to see the windmills, the world heritage in Netherlands.

They locate very close to the city of Rotterdom,
but the connection between the city and the windmills are very bad.
(you have to take a train and a bus to get there from Rotterdom)
We drove there after investigating how to reach there through Internet,
so could arrive at Kinderdijn easily.

On that day, the weather was very good;it was rare accoding to my friend.
So we enjoyed watching the world-famous windmills.
This time we could not take his family due to the regulations of child seat.
I hope he and his family could enjoy them while they were there.

ロッテルダム・スクール・オブ・マネジメント (RSM)

ベルギーで1晩過ごした後、今度はオランダ第2の都市であるロッテルダムへと
足を運びました。と言うのも、大阪で一緒に勉強した友人がそこにある
ロッテルダム・スクール・オブ・マネジメント（通称RSM）へと通っているからです。

到着後、彼が通うRSMへと連れて行ってもらいました。
1学年100人ほどのスモールスクールであるためか、規模はInseadと比べて
明らかに小さいという感がありましたが、そのぶん密度の濃い関係を
クラスメイトと築いているようで、その辺りは羨ましく思いました。
学生も25ヶ国以上から来ているようで、さすが欧州のビジネススクールですね。
ただ、インド人が20%近くいるらしく、その辺りはInseadと似ているようです。

夜は友人宅でもう1人の日本人学生と、
彼の家族（奥さん、10ヶ月の娘さん）と共に夕食を囲みました。
奥さんの手料理は普段食べられないホウボウの煮付けなどで、
とても美味しくいただきました。
僕が持っていったブルゴーニュワインも結構好評で良かったです。

After spending in Belgium, I visited Rotterdom, the second largest city in Netherlands.
One of my friends who struggled to get admissions from business schools
when I was in Osaka studies at Rotterdom School of Management (RSM).

When I arrived there, we visited the RSM.
It was very concise (about 100 people in one intake) but
he enjoyed close relationships with classmates.
I envied a little about that aspect because at Insead it is a little
difficult to the same amount of relationships with other classmates
due to its scale (about 880 people in one year).
The nationality of students consists of over 25 countries,
which is one of the characteristics found in European business school.
However, the proportion of Indian students is about 20%,
which is similar with the situation at Insead.

We had a dinner with his Japanese classmates and his family
(wife and 10 months daughter) at his house.
His wife's Japanese dishes were really great;
I even enjoyed eating boiled fish named Houbou.
We also enjoyed tasting the burganty wine I bought in Paris.

グラン・プラス (Grand Place)

フランスで知り合った友人が本格帰国されると言うことで、
お休みの初日はロンドンから駆けつけてきた友人と3人でパリで過ごしました。
日本でも是非とも活躍して欲しいです。

で、金曜日はベルギーに住んでいる同僚に会いに
国境越えドライブを敢行しました。
GPSに備え付けのマップは『フランス＋欧州主要道路』なのですが、
ブリュッセル、そして同僚が住んでいるルーベンへは楽に行けましたね。

相手の電話番号を忘れると言う災難に会いましたが、
なんとか連絡を取ることが出来、MBAやベルギーの話で盛り上がりました。
もち、ベルギービールやベルギー料理（っぽいもの）も堪能いたしました。

写真は2度目のブリュッセルで撮った、
世界1美しい広場と称されるグラン・プラスです。
以前来た時はまだ受験生でしたね。
今やへろへろのMBA Candidate、月日が経つのは早いものです。^^

I had two dinners with friends whom I met near Nice this June
because one of them determined to go back to Japan.
The other came from London to see him all the way.
I hope he would be motivated and do well in Japan too!

Then I drove to Belgium to see one of my collegues studying MBA.
Although my GPA has only the map of "France and major road in Europe,"
I could reach the Brussels and Louven easily.

I failed to bring his phone number, but could manage to meet him
and enjoyed talking about MBA, Belgium and so on.
Of course, I enjoyed Belgian beer and dishes (probably) there.

The picture above is the world-famous place, "Grand Place."
It is said to be the most beautiful place in the world and one of the world heritages.
I came there at the beginning of this year when I was still an applicant.
The time elapsed much faster than I expected.

試験終了！ (Break!)

ようやく3日続いた試験も終了しましたっ！
皆、試験終了と同時にシャンパンやビールなどを飲みまくってます。^^;
中にはすぐにもオルリーやシャルルドゴールへと向かう人もいて、
4日間の貴重なお休みを思い思いのプランで過ごすようです。
僕もパリで2日過ごしたあと、ベルギー、オランダへ向かいます！

Finally, 3 exam days has terminated!
Everybody enjoys drinking campagnes and beers.
Some people go to the Airports such as Orly and CDG right after exam.
All have various plans to enjoy the short, 4 days break.
I also go to Belgium and Holland after spending in Paris for two days!

お好み焼き (Okonomi-yaki)

最近土日の昼飯にはまっているのが、『お好み焼き』でございます。
まぁ、豚肉とキャベツ、天かすだけのシンプルなものなんですが、
美味いよね、やっぱり♪
材用はパリで買ってきたものを使用、大学時代となんら変わりません。^^;

それにしても、今日は天気が良くて、昼は20℃くらいあったのでは？
なのに、僕は図書館と家の往復。部屋に閉じこもり、１人でファイナンス・・・
明日からテストが始まります。
が、明日のミクロ経済の勉強が始められないぃぃ、あぁぁぁ・・・

On weekend, I recently cook and eat Japanese style pan-cake, "OKONOMI-YAKI."
Porc, cabbage, ten-kasu(small fried flour), and egg are mixed and stir-fried, forming OKONOMI-YAKI.
I used to cook it when I was at university, so I love it so much!
Most materials unique for the meal was bought in Paris.

Well, it was really nice weather today and I wanna go out,
but tons of exam stuff is in front of me...
Now I'm struggling with finance...

I have 5 exams starting tomorrow, and have 2 exams of
organizational behaviour and microeconomics.
Yes, I haven't started reviewing microeconomics...
Huh.....

滞在許可証 (Carte de Sejour)

試験前なので更新が滞ってました。
今週末が山場ですぅ・・・(--;

今日はフランスのビザ関係のお話をば。
フランスでは、学生として滞在する場合、
まずは長期学生ビザを取らなければなりません。
これは3ヶ月しか有効ではないため、フランスに来てから
滞在許可証（Carte de Sejour）というものに更新する必要があります。
で、この手続きがやや面倒。書類を揃えるのが結構大変です。
（手続き自体はInseadが大半をやってくれて助かりました）

許可証が発行されてからも、政府の求めに応じてパリくんだりまで
健康診断に行かなければなりません。
で、先週末、行って来ましたよ、それだけのために。

普通の健康診断もどきが行われて、X線まで撮られます。
が、この日はレントゲンが壊れてて、歩いて15分くらいのところまで
わざわざ撮りに行ったりも（さすがフランス・・・）。

まぁ、これで晴れてフランスの学生となりました。

Due to the busy days to study for the exam next week,
I have left this blog as it was so far, so sorry.

I'd like to describe about the VISA to stay in France.
To stay in France as a student, you have to begin with
getting a long-term student VISA in Japan (Tokyo).
This long-term VISA is only valid for three months,
so you have to renew it to the Carte de Sejour after arriving in France.
This procedure is a little troublesome and takes time...
(For participants, Insead greatly helps to get it instead.)

After obtaining the Carte de Sejour, you have to have a medical check
in Paris to finish the procedure.
This is why I went to Paris just because of it last weekend...

There, you will be checked according to the general medican check procedure,
almost the same as that in Japan.
However, the X-ray system was out of order and I had to walk to the clinic
to have x-rayed, taking 15 minutes to get there.
(YES, I'm in France...)

Anyway, I became a student in France now.

オージー・キウィ・ウィーク (Aussie Kiwi Week)

Inseadは70カ国以上から例年学生が集まってくるので、
ナショナル・ウィークという自国の文化を紹介するイベントがよく行われます。
今週は、オーストラリアとニュージーランドが合同で、
オージー・キウィ・ウィークというものを5日間展開しています。

イベントとしては、
・映画上映
・紅茶/ワイン試飲会
・企業プレゼン
・バーベキュー（カンガルーが食えますっ！）
・グッズ販売（Tシャツなど）
・お城でぱーちー♪（ドレスコード：黒い服）
などがありますね。

ちょうどグループメンバーにオージーが1人いて、
率先して参加しているので、僕も身近に感じます。^^

Participants at Insead come from more than 70 countries,
so the event called "National Week" is often held at both campuses.
Participants introduce their own culture such as food and fashion in this event.
This week, Australian and New Zealander hold "Aussie Kiwi Week" together.

The contents are:
- Movie showing
- Tea/Wine tasting
- Presentations by companies in both countries
- BBQ (You can eat a KANGAROO!)
- Sale of goods relating to both countries
- Aussie/Kiwi Party at chateau!
and so on...

One Aussie guy in my study group is proactively participating in this event.
So, I can feel it familiar.^^

おうち紹介 (My House in France)

どうも最近、友人達の間で料理や家の紹介が流行っている（？）らしいので、
料理に続いて、我が家の紹介でもしたいと思います。

場所は、学校のあるフォンテーヌブローから北東方面へ車で約15分ほど、
ボワ・ル・ロワという村の、セーヌ川沿いです。
この辺りはやや別荘地帯っぽい雰囲気を備えていて、
いわゆるシャトー（お城）っぽい雰囲気の家もけっこう見られます

家は9人で共有していて、僕（日本）以外には、イスラエル、モロッコ、
スウェーデン、韓国、ロシア、ポルトガル、インドそしてドイツから
やってきています。うまく国籍が分かれていますね。^^

僕は2階の1室を借りており、家賃は940ユーロと1人暮らしにはやや高めですが、
WiFiや乾燥機のほか、家財道具も必要最低限は揃っており、
税金やガーデニング費用、保険も込みこみなのでまぁそれなりにお得です。

目の前をセーヌ川が通っているので、犬の散歩やジョギング、サイクリングを
する人達をよく見かけますね。(^_-)-☆

It seems popular among my friends abroad to introduce their cooking and
residence, so I follow them this time.^^

My house locates in the village named "Bois Le Roi," northwest, 15 minutes drive from Fontainebleau where Insead locates.
As you can see, my house stands in front of Seine River, which is very nice.
There are a lot of big houses like "Chateau" around here.

I share my house with other 8 participants of Insead;
they are from Israel, Morroco, Sweden, South Korea,
Portugal, India, and Germany.
Although we did not contact with each other, good mix of nationalities.

I rent one of the rooms in the first floor by 940 euros,
which is a little expensive for one person.
However, my room rent includes WiFi internet, drying machine (share),
insurance, gardening expense, tax, and necessary household stuffs.
I think it's not so expensive, considering these features.

I often find the people who jog, enjoy cycling,
and take for a walk with their dogs in front of my house.
This would be because the beautiful scenery around here.)

肉じゃが (Japanese traditional meal, Niku-Jaga)

今日は日曜日。今週末は疲労回復と決め込んでいたので、
今朝は昼まで寝てました。^^

で、昨日に続いて（昨日は３度目のカツどーん！）、
今日は肉じゃがを久しぶりに作ってみました♪
なんか、食べたくなるじゃーありませんか、肉じゃがって。

出来栄えは、ちょっと汁気が少なめだったことと、
じゃがいもの固さにムラがややあった以外はまぁ上出来♪
落し蓋の使い方やジャガイモの種類が異なることが影響したのかなぁ？
（こっちは、フライドポテト用やマッシュポテト用などと
スーパーで分けて売られていたりします。）
あと、牛肉が切り落としじゃないので、その辺が不満・・・

もちろん、今夜の食卓も同じメニューです（苦笑）。

I decided to take a rest this weekend, so overslept until noon this morning.

After cooking a Katsu-don last night (third one!),
I made a Niku-Jaga (Beef, potato, carrot and kidney beans boiled with
soy sauce etc...) for the first time since a couple of years ago.
Don't you sometimes wanna eat Niku-Jaga suddenly?

It was not bad except that it lacked sauce a little and
that some potatoes were hard to eat.
In addition, the beef was not cut suitably for Niku-Jaga.
(In France, cut off beef seems not to be sold?)
This was due to the difference of use of Otoshibuta (One way to cooking)
and the kind of potatoes (in France, there are several kinds of potatoes).

Of course, tonight's dinner is also with Niku-Jaga...

MBA2007ガイダンスブック (MBA 2007 Guidance Book)

もうそろそろかな？と思っていたところ、受付の辺りで飾ってあったので、
ちょっくら拝借してきました。'07年9月、'08年1月入学者用の募集要項です。

・フォンテーヌブロー/シンガポールキャンパスの様子
・ファカルティの紹介（今年はC.Kim/R.Mauborgneも出てます）
・パーティシパント（Inseadでは、学生をこう呼びます、以下Participant）の紹介
・アラムナイ（卒業生）の紹介
・その他、MBAについての情報（国籍の数、平均GMATスコアなど）

が簡潔にまとめられていて、眺めていると、
去年、受験生だった時代を思い出します・・・
主な情報を少し挙げてみると、

・Participantの国籍: 71
・Participantの数： 882
・両方のキャンパスを経験した人の割合： 73%
・選択科目の数： 80+
・卒業生が働きはじめた国の数： 60+
・転職した人の割合： 87%

先週くらいからキャンパスビジットする人も増えてきて、
日本人の方にも3-4名ほどお会いしました。
個人的には、このビジネススクールは人によって相性がはっきりする
と思うのですが、もし、ご自分の求めているものと一致するのであれば、
是非とも受験して欲しいですね。

I found the MBA guidance book for 2007 intakes at the reception
when I was concerning about it.

The contents are, for example,
- Pictures of Fontainebleau/Singapore campus
- Faculty (including Prof.C.Kim/Prof.R.Mauborgne)
- Participant (At Insead, we call students as such)
- Alumni
- Other information (Nationalities, average GMAT score and so on)

All information are concisely written, reminding me of the moment
when I was preparing for the application last year.
I'd like to enumerate some of the contents concretely:

- Nationalities of participants: 71
- Number of participants: 882
- The proportion of the participants who exchange their campus: 73%
- Electives: 80+
- The countries where graduates start to work: 60+
- The proportion, career change: 87%
- Male/Female: 75/25
- Mother tougue: English20%, French15%, Hindi8%, Spanish6%...
and so on.

More and more people who are considering applying for Insead are coming
since last week, and I met 3-4 people from Japan.

I feel this school is unique and very different from that in the US,
but if you find our school is suitable for you,
I appreciate your will and effort to apply for Insead!
