アムステルダム (Amsterdam)

先週末も懲りずにアムステルダムまで国外逃亡していました。
今回は40人以上のInseadの友人達と大挙して訪れ、
クラブでは一部貸切状態だったようです。（僕は行きませんでしたが）

アムステルダムはとても綺麗で便利、だけど欧州の街並みも残している
とてもいい街だと感じました。運河もよいアクセントを加えています。

アムステルダムでは、
・ライクス美術館（レンブラントの『夜警』があります）
・ヴィンセント・ヴァン・ゴッホ美術館（ゴッホの作品数では随一？）
・コーヒーショップ（合法ドラッグを扱っている店、カフェとは違います）
・ハイネケンエクスペリエンス（要はビール工場見学みたいなもの）
・レッド・ライト・ディストリクト（もはや観光地化している風俗通り）
を訪れました。どれも個性があって、なかなか楽しめましたね。^^

最近は本当にplay hard, work hardなのですが、
やや勉強が追いついていないので、今日から本腰入れていきたいと思います。

I and my friends (over 40 people!) from INSEAD visited Amsterdam last weekend.
Friday night, a part of club in Amsterdam was occupied with most of them...

I really liked Amsterdam and wanna live there in the future.^^
Very clean, enough convenient, but the old style of European town still remains.
The canal is also one of the attractive points in Amsterdam.

I visited with my friends:
- Rijks Museum (I could watch "The Night Watch" by Rembrandt)
- Vincent Van Gogh Museum (accomodates most of his works?)
- Coffee Shop (sells legal drugs, not typical cafe)
- Heineken Experience (You can see how a beer is made and drink 3 free beer!)
- Red Light District (A touristy place, especially for men)
All of them were unique and interesting, I enjoyed them.

Recently I have played hard and worked hard...
Still I have to work harder to catch up the classes and prepare for
the exams just ahead of us.

ミラノ遠征 (Basketball in Milan)

先週末は金～日とイタリアのミラノに行っていました。
と言うのも、現地でヨーロッパのMBAスクールが集まって行う
体育大会みたいなものがあり、バスケットボールの代表（？）として
まぁはせ参じていたという訳です。

結果はまぁ散々でしたが（苦笑）、ロンドン・ビジネス・スクール（イギリス）、
イエセ（スペイン）、ボッコーニ（イタリア）、ケンブリッジ（イギリス）
と各地の著名なスクールと交流を深めることができたのは収穫でした。
また、現地で働いている日本人の方やケンブリッジの友人などともお会いでき、
流れに任せてミラノの日本人の方々となぜか合コンもどきなこともやってました。^^;
そして夜はクラビング・・・次の日は睡眠３時間でまたバスケやってました。。。

と言うわけで、宿題の多さ（週１～２個のグループワーク）と今週末も
アムステルダムに行くなど、ちょっと忙しすぎて更新が遅れています。
あまり期待せずに待っていてくださいませ。

Last weekend, I visited Milan to play basketball as one of the members
of Insead Basketball Team.
A lot of business schools in Europe gathered there to play basketball,
volleyball, football (soccer), touch football, and so on.

We could not win the tournament, but I could meet gents and ladies from
- London Business School (UK)
- Cambridge (UK)
- IESE (Spain)
- Bocconi (Italy)
and enjoyed meeting some Japanese people working in Milan and a friend
who studies at Cambridge now.
In addition, I could have a kind of random dinner with Japanese
who live in Milan with the help of people whom I met there.
Of course, we went to "hot" club to enjoy dancing...
and I played basketball after sleeping for 3 hours on the next day.

As I play hard and work hard these days (1-2 deliberables on average),
I'm now too busy to update this blog, so please wait for a moment. ^^

こんな就職活動なら大歓迎？ (Welcoming Job Hunting)

ちょうど今？ロンドンでは００７の新作、『カジノ・ロワイヤル』の
ワールド・プレミアが行われているようです。
CNNによると、エリザベス２世女王もいらしているとか？

全然関係ない僕がなぜこの話題を書いているかと言うと、
ちょうどワーナー・ブラザーズの面接を受けにロンドンまで
行っている友人が、どうもこのプレミアに招待されているみたいだからです。
なんと羨ましい・・・

同級生にはお兄さんがドリームワークスで働いている人もいて、
映画好きとしては就職先としてなかなか惹かれるところではあります・・・^^;

Just right now in London, the world premire of new James Bond movie,
"007 Casino Royale" seems to be held.
According to the CNN, Queen Elizabeth 2nd is also watching it.

I have nothing to do with this event, but one of my Insead friends
is actually enjoying it because he was invited by the Warner Brothers,
one of the major Movie production companies.
He stays in London to have a job interview with them.
He is soooooooooo lucky!

The brother of my friend is also working for the Dream Works,
the another movie production company, in the US.
As I like watching movies, this industry is really attractive as post-Insead.^^

シャルトル大聖堂 (Cathedral in Chartre)

天気もやや回復してきたので、滅入った気分を晴らそうと
今日はシャルトルの大聖堂（世界遺産）を観にいってきました。

ここ（Bois Le Roi）からは車で1.5-2時間ほど。
ふらっと行って、お茶して、さくっと帰って来ました。^^
この大聖堂は２つの塔の様式が異なるほか、
ステンドグラスがとても綺麗で有名のようです。
今日は残念ながら日差しが弱く、ステンドグラスの美しさも
半減といったところでしょうか。

でも、やはりたまにはこのようなスローな時間の過ごし方も
必要だと感じる今日この頃です。

I visited the Cathedral in Chartre as the weather became better.
This monument is one of the World Heritages.

It took 1.5-2 hours from here (Bois Le Roi) by car.
I enjoyed driving and spending in Chartre for a while.
This cathedral consists of two different towers and
its stained glass is very famous for its beauty.
Because it was cloudy today, I could not enjoy watching
the sunlight through the stained glass.

Spending in a slow time at local town is good for myself,
who is tired from working in a fast-paced life.

成績発表 (P1 Grade Distribution)

今日はP1タームの成績発表が予定されていたので、
うちのクラスでは悪い成績を受け取った人のために
全員黒装束で授業を受けていました。

で、もちろん僕も受け取ったわけですが・・・
やはり現実は甘くないようです。--;
他の日本人学生の方もあまり芳しくない人が何人かいて、
皆で反省会をしてました。。。
今学期はちょっと頑張らないと。

Today, we had the grade for P1 term,
so in our class we were in black for those
who may have failed to get good grades.

I, of course, got my grade and felt bad for that.
Some of other Japanese participants also had worse results,
and we had a meeting for improvement for a while...
Need to make more effort and tactics this term...

通学路 (Road to the Insead)

Inseadは欧州一の面積を誇るフォンテーヌブローの森のすぐ側にあります。
そのため、乗馬やクライミング、ハイキングなどが盛んなようですが、
フォンティに住んでいないと、このように森の中を突っ切って
通学しなければなりません。

ドライブ自体は結構快適（マイナスイオンたっぷり♪）なのですが、
時々霧でほとんど前が見えなかったり、真夜中に鹿や猪に遭遇したり、
と都会ではなかなか味わえない体験も出来たりします。

あと、制限速度は70-90km/hなので、100km前後で走る車が多く、
夜は街灯なしで突っ走らなければならないので、安全運転には注意してます。^^

Insead locates just next to the European largest forest, the forest of fontainebleau.
People enjoy horse riding, rock climbing, and hiking etc. in the woods.
However, I have to commute to Insead driving through the woods
because I live outside the city of Fontainebleau.

I like driving through the woods (w/ lots of minus-ions),
but sometimes experience in driving almost blind in the fog
and encountering deers and wild boars, which I would not
experience living in the city.

In addition, most of the cars are running around 100km/h or so
due to the speed limit of 70-90km/h, and there is no lights at night,
so I have to pay attention to drive safely.^^

パーティー＠モントメリアン (Bal de Montmelian)

昨晩は総勢400人以上が集まるパーティーに行って来ました。
場所はInseadの学生14人が住んでいるChateau de Montmelian、要はシャトー（お城）です。
仮装好きの欧米人が企画した今回のテーマは"THE MONTMELIAN SPEAKEASY"
要はマフィアなどが横行した1920sの装いでいくというもの。
みんな帽子やパールネックレス、マシンガン（！）などを駆使して、
当時の雰囲気をかもし出していました。

入場時にはボスへ謁見したり、ボディチェックを受けたりもしました（苦笑）
最初は穏やかに会話が進んでいましたが、その後はまさにディスコ状態♪
ボンテージ姿のおねーさんなどもお立ち台で踊ったりして、
3:00amでもまだまだ夜は終わらないという雰囲気でした。^^;

Last night is "Bal de Montmelian!", the party held at chateau
where 14 Insead participants live, with over 400 people!
The theme was "THE MONTMELIAN SPEAKEASY,"
i.e. the dress code was old 1920s with hat, neckless and machine-guns!

At the entrance, I had to meet the boss of Montmelian and
was body-checked to enter.
In the beginning of the party, everybody talked in a moderate manner,
but as the time went, it changed to a cool club!
Ladies with bondage costumes was dancing on the stage,
and it seemed to go until dawn even at 3:00 am...

アメリカ・カナダ週間 (USA/Canada Week)

今週はナショナルウィーク第2弾、アメリカ/カナダウィークです。
メインのパーティーでは、なぜかロデオの模擬装置があり、
参加者の何人かはロデオ体験をしているのでした。

木曜日の夜にも関わらず、まだ第1週ということで
かなりのInsead生が来ているようでした。

At the party, we can enjoy riding a mechanical horse!
Some people seemed to enjoy riding the horse (bull?).

Today is still Thursday, but a lot of people came there
maybe because it is still the first week of P2/P5.
