Turkish Cooking Class

Finally, so happy to see the sun but please be careful under this strong and burning sun.

Good Morning and this is Hasan again volunteer at International Center.

When I came here 3.5 months ago I was asked to teach students  in Turkish Cooking Class on July 5 at NanbuKominkan.

We couldnt publish this blog on July 6 and last week was heavy rain was the main blog of my title.

That day I tried to cook 3 famous Turkish dishes; Menemen, Zucchini and Carrots mix with yogurt and garlic appetizer and Green Pepper Dolma.

I was quite nervous and excited before as I`ve never cooked in front 20 people but  I went there and as I started teaching lovely people in there they made me very comfortable and ease.

The class had  mostly house wifes as there were 2 male students which I was very suprised to see.

Turkish Cuisine number 3 in the world after France and Chinese Cuisine and has very long history.

Students were very interested in Cuissine and were asking me many questions about these 3 dishes and  about the Cuisine.

I was privilege and humble to be there and introduce to these 3 dishes to students who didnt know so much  about Turkish Cuisine.

According to students these dishes were very delicous and I hope I taught these people  about Turkish Cuisine and how delicious these dishes can be If you are actually in Turkey.

I also encourage people who read this blog to check Turkish Cuisine in the web and see those lovely colorful food pictures and read about Cuisine`s history to see why this Cuisine has so much attention around the world.

I was asked to cook again in November at different Community Center and I guess I will glady accept this offer and teach as many students as possible about Turkish Cuisine and make them excited about our foods.

おはようございます　サポートボランティアのハサンです（＾＾）

サポートボランティアになった当初、会館の職員の方から「南部公民館で７月５日にトルコ料理

を作ってくれないか」と聞かれました

トルコ料理教室が終わったら、すぐにでもブログを書きたかったのですが中々書くことができませんでしたそこで、今回書かせていただきます

その日は３種類のトルコ料理を作りました（メネメン、ズッキーニに人参それからヨーグルト、にんにくを混ぜ合わせたもの、ピーマンドルマ）

最初は緊張でいっぱいでしたが、参加者の方々はとても親切ですぐに緊張がとけ楽しい時間を過ごすことが出来ました

参加者の方は、主婦の方が多かったのですが、２名男性の学生の方がいらしゃって驚きました

トルコ料理は世界三大料理の一つ（中華料理、フランス料理、トルコ料理）で長い歴史があります（＾－＾）

参加者の方は、トルコ料理に興味を持たれて今回作った３つの料理のことや他の料理について私に質問してくださいました

トルコ料理を食べたことがない参加者の方もとても美味しいと喜んでくださいました

このブログを読んでトルコ料理に興味を持って色々調べて下さったら嬉しいです

それから、今年の１１月またトルコ料理を作ることになりました

たくさんの参加者に来て頂けると私も嬉しいです★

サポートボランティア　ハサン　インターン　長田

ハサンさんは、料理を作る前は大変緊張なさっていましたが、終わったあとはとても楽しかったと自慢げに写真をみせて下さいました（笑）

私は食べることが、できなかったのですが、見た目も凄くきれいでどんな味がするのか

食べてみたいと思いました

Yesterday`s Heavy Rain

My name is Hasan, I live in here and  work 2 days a week at International Center as a volunteer.

Yesterday, Kyushu had very heavy rain especially in Kumamoto, Oita and Aso city and heavy rain caused many problems as well as some damages and unfortunately some people died and some are still missing.

As a foreigner, this is not my first time to live in here but it was my first time to see this much rain in one day, actually in 6 hours. From my house I could hear river`s loud noise, the non-stop helicopter flying, the ambulance and fire truck sirens.

Where I am from is Vancouver-Canada  does get rain (some times continously) but never like this in here last couple weeks and especially on yesterday.

I live close to ShiraKawa river (but not in danger area) and I went close to river yesterday and what I saw was normally I see on TV and this time it was real and river was angry and  overflowed, you can not see the roads, rice fields or those little green houses.

I could actually see the peoples  eyes how terrifying this hours and moments they were　in but even though they were in this condition, they were still helping each other and not losing hope.

If you are foreigner like me and wish to come to downtown for any reason but dont know how is the condition of the city, I encourage you to call Kumamoto International Center at 096-359-2121 and get the very usefull and important information. We have people who speaks various languages such as English, Chinese or Korean.

Anyway, we do believe  all of you have been fine, withouy any problem even is this was the heaviest rain that Kumamoto has  experienced so far.

I wish to say my condolences those who lost their relatives and those who still missing can be found safe and sound soon.

Sayonara Kumamoto 英語サロン

こんにちはインターンの長田です

本日は、５年間熊本市の国際交流員として働いてこられたベンジャミン・クリフィンさんの最後の英語サロンに参加させていただきました

参加者の方も常連の方が多く、慣れた雰囲気で楽しそうにお話されていました　　　　　　　　　　　　ベンジャミンさんが、乗り物に乗るときの整理券の必要なところとそうでないところがあり戸惑った体験談を話され皆さん、笑われたりとその場にいるだけでも、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました

色んな写真も紹介してくださいました★

また、ベンジャミンさんはとても人気でサロンが終わったあともお話がしたい、写真を一緒に撮りたいという参加者の方々に囲まれておられました

私達、インターン生も７月１３日でインターンシップが終わります

インターンに来るのも、あと２回です・・・

毎日のように来ていたので、正直寂しいです

でも、とても良い経験が出来ました熊本国際交流会館の方、サポートボランティアの方、私達に話かけて下さった方本当にありがとうございました
