裕也は、安堵の気持ちを現した。

「明日、帰りの扉が開く。
　今日は、ゆっくりしなさい。
　王の誕生だ。
　盛大にお祝いしよう」
魔族の女王は、真菜美に裕也を暫く休ませてから宴会場に連れて来るように目配せした。

暫く休んでから、裕也と真菜美は、宴会場の扉を開けた。
魔族の国で盛大な宴が催されている。

豪華なシャンデリアが、天井と壁を飾り。
それには、無数の光の球の灯りがぶら下がっていた。
そして、蠟燭台の炎が各テーブルを照らしている。

３列の座席に貴族風の服装の男性が座っている。
正面に旗が飾られている。
旗には、角を生やした魔獣の顔に王冠を被ったマークがデザインされている。
その前には、主賓（しゅひん）の裕也と女王と王女の席が用意されている。
女王は、既に着席していた。
裕也と真菜美は、左側から席に向かった。
「ワイワイ　ガヤガヤ」
賑（にぎ）やかに喋（しゃべ）っている。
裕也は、座席に着き、改めて周りを見渡した。

四隅に薔薇の花が飾られている。

天井の真ん中には、壁画が描かれている。
天に背く悪魔。剣と盾を持っている。

テーブルには、氷が入ったバケツにワインが入れられている。
銘柄は『アンドロヅワーゼ』と書いてある。
席に着くと、料理のサーバントがワインをグラスに注いだ。
女王が起立する。
みんな、一斉に立った。
グラスを持っている。
「国王誕生。裕也に乾杯」
皆の者は、一斉に声を上げる。
「乾杯！」
裕也は、ワインを一口飲んだ。
甘いような、酸っぱいような、さくらんぼうの味がした。
裕也は、魅惑された。

裕也は、自分が無理やり連れてこられ、
戦わせられたことなど全て忘れて
食って飲んだ。

魔族が、日本にいる信仰者から作り出した民である。

昔、魔族は、光の神に負けた。
原因の一つは、欲望の大きい民であったことです。
女王は、幸福に生きるために、信仰に救いを求めたのである。
彼女は何の信仰をするか迷った。
そして、彼女は民を戦わすことにした。
そして、彼女は、その勝者がする宗教をすることにした。

闘技は、始まった。

イエスを信じる者は、剣を上げるものは、いなかった。
そして、無残に殺されていった。
裕也は、駆け寄って聴いた。
「なぜ、戦わない」

「私たちは、自分のためには戦わない。
　私たちは、魔族の民ではない。イエスの子です。
　裕也　あなたは戦いなさい。

裕也の戦う番が来た。

まず、彼は、仏法者と剣を交えることに成る。
仏法者は、欲望が大きい。
その者から生み出されたのである。
勝者がしている宗教を女王がすると聞いたので、俄然（がぜん）張りきった。

「カン　カン　カン」

裕也は、人を殺すことは出来ない。

剣技にも猛（た）けていない。

相手の剣が裕也の頭上をめがけて振り下ろされた。

（しまった。終わりか）裕也は、覚悟した。

「ブゥーン」剣が裕也に当たる寸前に次元が変わる。

打ち降ろした剣が空を切る。

思わず地面を剣がたたき、剣が飛び去る。

裕也や相手の喉に剣を当てた。

「マ　マ　マィツタ」
相手は、降参した。
「裕也の勝利」

女王は、信仰者が人を殺せないものが居ることを知っていた。
だから、無理には強要しなかった。

全ての魔族に作られた人々の命が光となって、裕也の体に入って来る。

裕也は、勝利したのである。

それは、裕也が痛みを知り、許すことが出来る人間だからである。

しばらくして、城の正門に着いた。
黒い石の城。塔らしきものが突き出ている。
夜のせいもあるが、全てが黒々している。
正面に木で造られた大きな門がある。
角を生やした悪魔の面が飾られている。
「中に用がある。開門したまえ」
裕也は、ありったけの大声で怒鳴（どな）った。

「ぎぃぎぃいいいいい」
門が開き。二人の大男が出てきた。

黒い甲冑に黒い肌。顏もマスクに覆われている。
その中、２つ開いたマスクの窓から青い目が光っている。

「裕也か？」
「そうだ」裕也は答えた。
「付いてくるがいい。女王がお待ちだ」黒い甲冑の門兵が言った。

－－魔族の国（005）－－

門を抜け、城の中に入る。
奥に広間が見える。
明かりと大勢の声が漏れてくる。
「何か宴会でもしてるのですか？」裕也は黒兵に聞いた。
黒兵は、何も答えない。
しばらく進んで、広間に着いた。
周りに観客席があり大勢の人、いや、魔族の民が居た。
みんな、甲冑に身を固めていた。
正面には、バルコニーが有り、女性が佇（たたず）んでいた。
王娘（おうじょ）である。
そして、その隣に老女が立っている。
腰を屈め、醜い顔をしている。女王である。

裕也は、姫の顔を凝視した。
「真菜美か？」
「裕也！」王娘が答えた。
「真菜美。無事でよかった」裕也は、ほっとした。

－－魔族の国（006）－－

広場に、高らかにラッパの音が響く。
「パパラッパパ」
「今より闘技を行う。
　これは、信仰の強さを問う競技でもある。
　優勝者には、王娘と王座を与える」

「裕也。席につくのだ」黒兵が言った。
広場の一階には、大きな円が中央に描かれていた。
そして、その周りに１６対になった２つの椅子が置かれ、
それぞれの椅子に闘技者が座っていた。
裕也は、その椅子の一つに連れていかれた。
目の前に、一つ空いた椅子があった。

裕也は、仕事が終わり、帰り道。
近くの回転寿司屋でお寿司の盛り合わせ１０８０円を買った。
お寿司は、好きなものを注文した。
イカ。鉄火巻き。キュウリ巻き。軍艦ウニ。
サーモン。はまち。あなご。甘えび。鯛。
たまご。
を入れてもらう。
ワサビと醤油さしを付けてもらう。

「ちょっと贅沢（ぜいたく）かなぁ」
裕也は、部屋に帰って食べる。
「むしゃむしゃ」（おいしい）「気にいった　いける」

裕也は、チベットでもらった曼陀羅をどうしようかと考えたが、
彼は、仏壇を買い、曼荼羅を飾り、その前にイエスの十字架の像を置いた。

裕也は、食べ終わる。
「今日も祈るか」
インドでの出来事を思い出し、静かに祈る。
そして、聖書を読んだ。

そのとき、次元が動くのを感じた。
「次元が動いてる。部屋は変わっていない。
　どこに行くんだ」

（次元の動きが止まった）
部屋は、いつもと変わりなかった。
「外に出てみるか」
裕也は、外の様子を見るために部屋のドアを開けた。
変わりはなかった。
（でも、何か様子がおかしい。空気が違う）
空気が甘く少し重いかった。
裕也の部屋は商店街の裏側に入口がある。
部屋を出て、表に回り商店街に出て、神社の方を見た。
お城がそびえ立っていた。
「城だ！」

『裕也。約束のときが来たぞ』

暗黒へ誘い込む声が聞こえる。

「きゃぁー」空を劈く（つんざく）女性の声。

『真菜美は、預かったぞ』
彼の心に響く声。

裕也は、心を探した。しかし、真菜美の心は見つからない。
（真菜美！）心の声で呼びかける。
（あの声は、真菜美か？
　どうしてここに？城に向かうしかないのか？）
裕也は、暗闇を城に向かって歩き出した。
同時に道のわきの電灯が点（つ）き始める。

裕也は、魔族の城へと一歩を踏み出した。

Everyone is this law.
Make use of God and Buddha.
Good way (law of time).
Before living or getting dressed.
I preach a faint mystery (fantasy).

Preach my bottom.
The true mystery of my heart.
I want to declare it again.
The heart lives in the body.
God, Buddha, and demons.
When you match the good.

I do those who practice the law.
I asked for life as if I was thirsty.
I want to preach the law.
I want a heart to do.
The three worlds appear.
Not like this.

God sitting in the heart.
The Buddha sitting in the heart.
A monster that sits in your heart.
Goodness that sits in your heart.

The name you always hear.
The name of the Buddha.
God's name.
The name of the demon.
The king of God and Buddha.
You sit in the heart of the king.

Love. Guidance. direction.
Old. sick. death.
The universe that springs up forever.
In everyone's heart.
It is in everyone's world.
A heart that loves everyone.
The Lord who guides people.
I want to do good deeds.

It's been a long time now.
Put both hands together with God.
Put both hands together with the Buddha.
Fit both hands to the monk.
Fit both hands to the people.

All different laws.
All the same law.
Pray for good happiness.
Seeking my happiness.
Suffering. sick. poor.
Buddha and God's messenger.

Respect the world honors.
A Buddha who burns the cause.
Actually like a dream.
There is a king in the world.
There are people in the world.
Everyone declares chanting.

Nanmu Myōhō Renkakyo, Nanmu Amida Buddha, Nanmu Shakyamuni Buddha, West God, Middle East God,
East god, night god, light god, dark god, king of people.

Head east.
Gassho to people.
Suffering. sick. poor.
It is, I wished.
It is the spirit of the king. "

Yuya prayed for a week, had a principal image, and left the land of Karl Neiva.

祐也は、祈った。
書物も読んだ。と言っても、漢字しか分からない。読みと意味をアジェスタに教えてもらった。

祐也は、いろいろ読んでみた。
宇宙のはじまりを説いたり、
法の実相を説いたり、
空想や物語。
とりあえず、お釈迦様が説いたか分からないが、妙法蓮華経について重ねて説かれた欲重宣抄（欲する。重ねる。宣言する。短文。）を読むことにした。
  

そこには、１０人の世尊が現れる。

「精神から出発する。
　暗闇に夜に集まる。
　十人の世尊。
　宇宙は、始まる。
　不思議な光あり。
　声の門がある。

　皆、これ法である。
　神様や仏様を活かす。
　善い方便（時の法）。
　住んだり、服を着たり、その前に。
　私は微（かす）かに不思議（ファンタジー）を説く。

　我の底を説く。
　我の心の本当の妙。
　重ねて宣言することを欲する。
　身に心が住む。
　神様や仏様や魔物。
　善と一致するとき。

　私は法を実行する者を行ずる。
　生を喉が渇（かわ）いてように仰ぐ。
　法を説くことを欲する。
　行ずる心を欲する。
　三界が顕れる。
　この如くに非ず。

　心に座る神様。
　心に座る仏様。
　心に座る魔物。
　心に座る善。

　いつも聞く名前。
　仏様の名前。
　神様の名前。
　魔物の名前。
　神様や仏様の王。
　王の心に座る。

　愛。導き。方向。
　老い。病気。死。
　永遠に湧き出る宇宙。
　みなの心の中。
　みなの世にあり。
　みなを愛する心。
　人を導く主。
　善行をすることを欲する。

　今は、久遠である。
　神様に両手を合わせる。
　仏様に両手を合わせる。
　僧に両手を合わせる。
　人に両手を合わせる。

　みな異なる法。
　みな同じ法。
　善い幸福を祈る。
　我の幸福を求める。
　苦しみ。病気。貧しい。
　仏様や神様の使い。

　世尊を尊ぶ。
　因を燃やす仏。
　実は夢の如く。
　世に王あり。
　世に民あり。
　皆は、唱え宣言する。

　南無妙法蓮華経、南無阿弥陀仏、南無釈迦牟尼仏、西神様、中東神様、
　東の神様、夜の神様、光の神様、闇の神様、人の王様。
　東へ進む。
　人へ合掌する。
　苦しみ。病気。貧しい。
　それは、望んだこと。
　王の精神である。」

 

裕也は、１週間いて祈りを捧げ、本尊を持ち、カールネイバの地を去った。

アメリカに帰った裕也は、本社から日本へ出向するように命じられた。
そして、日本に帰る。

アジェスタは、話す。
「祐也。釈尊やキリストが説いた法は、
　はじめから、
　彼らはこの心を持っているのです。
　一つの宗教に説かれいるそんな小さな名前ではない。

　『ナムミョウホウレンゲキョウ』

なぜなら、全ての人、全ての信仰者の幸せを願うからである。
争いからは、幸福は、生まれないのである。
「アジェスタ。一週間、ここに居ていいですか？」

「かまいませんよ　裕也」
アジェスタは、微笑み返事した。

裕也は、瞑想を再開した。

右側に孔雀の模様があり、
孔雀の尾が十本、
扉の淵を飾っていた。
扉には、花の種。
その種からは、芽とツル。
そして蓮の花が浮き彫りになっていた。

アジェスタに促されて祐也は、部屋に入った。
部屋の奥には、祭壇あり、
その壁には、掛け軸が掛けてあった。
それは、曼陀羅と言うべきかもしれない。
  
アジェスタは、これからすることを説明する。
「この部屋は、『はじまりの部屋』です。
　祐也には、少し瞑想をして頂きます。
　正面に掛かっているのが曼陀羅です。
　中央に、 
　『なむみょうほうれんげきょう』
　と書かれています。
　それを見ながら唱えてください」
アジェスタは、祐也をその曼陀羅の正面に座らした。
そして、彼自身は、その裕也の右横に座った。

「それでは、はじめます」
アジェスタは、唱え始めた。
「なむみょう…」
祐也も続いて唱えはじめる。
だが、なかなかしっくりいかない。
  
アジェスタは、何かの経を読み始める。
「全ては、精心から発する。…」

祐也は、何とか曼陀羅を見つめて唱えている。
彼はだんだん集中してくる。
（無の心とは、こう言うものなのか？)
彼は気づけば暗闇の中にいた。
  
周りは、真っ暗。正面には、曼陀羅だけが彼に見えていた。
長く短く時間の壁が無くなる。
そして、声がした。

 「われは、その心にひかれて来た」
 「我々も」「我も」「我も」「…」

 「全てを愛そうとする善愛」
 「人を導く力」
 「自ら定める欲望の示す先」

 「あなたの名前は？」

「ファースト、ハート、ネーム、イズ、ナムミョウホウレンゲキョウ」
 祐也は、自ら答えた。が正しくは、自然に突き動かされた。
  

 
「我等は、了解した」
「我らは、仏、神、魔者と呼ばれしものになる」

 祐也の体が光を放ち、曼陀羅に吸い込まれる。
 声の主達も、曼陀羅に吸い込まれていく。
 周りの暗闇も曼陀羅に吸い込まれていく。
そして曼陀羅は、光と闇を集め凝縮していく。
 
そして曼陀羅は、爆発した。
 辺り一面、様々な光に包まれた。
 祐也は、『はじまりの部屋』にいた。我に帰った。 

(宇宙のはじまり)
裕也は、そう感じた。
 
曼陀羅は、何事もなく、そこにあった。
「アジェスタ、今、私は、宇宙のはじまりを見ました」
裕也は、今起こったことを話す。
 
「祐也、それは、良かった。
　問題は、解決しましたか？」
アジェスタは、聞き返した。

「私には、神が正しいとか、仏が正しいとか、どちらを選ぶべきか分かりません。
　しかし、一つ言えるのは、はじまりはあり、世界は、一人の力で出来たものではないと言うことです」
裕也に分かったことは、それだけであった。

　集会に間に合わなくなる。
　おめかしもしたいし、
　記念する日になるわよ」
エディケは、裕也を急（せ）かす。
「９時に出発よ」
エディケは、念を押す。
「分かりました」
祐也は、すでに出発の準備ができた。
そこに、戸がノックされた。
「エディケさん。裕也さん」
ガイドが、昨日の約束で来たのである。
裕也は、すっかり忘れていた。
エディケは、応対に出た。
「裕也さは、昨日、少し体を壊しまして、今日は一日休むそうです。
　そう、学者にそうお伝えください」
ガイドは、「お大事になさってください」と一言いい。
何も疑わずに帰った。

エディケは、おめかしを終えた。
「アギ、あなたも行くのよ。
　祐也、行くわよ」
「準備は出来ています」
裕也は、玄関に向かった。
「出発」
裕也は、意気込んだ。
祐也は、外に出るものと思っていたが、エディケは、娘と手をつなぎ地下への階段を降り始めた。
裕也も急いで後を追う。

エディケは、地下にある扉の前のキャンドルをとり扉を開け中に入った。
祐也もそれに続いた。
「あ、次元が変わった」
  

（それは、アメリカに在った井戸やソースへの入り口と同じだ）
祐也は、思った。
エディケは、３０分くらい地下道を歩いた。
足元は、石畳で古くからあるようにも思えた。
渇いていて清掃されている。
地下道の先が明るく見えてきた。
  

明るい日差しの入るドームに出た。
５本の石の柱に支えられている。
真ん中には、厚手の絨毯(じゅうたん)が敷いてあり、
数人の僧が瞑想している。
  

「おはようございます」
エディケは、元気よく挨拶する。
僧侶は、瞑(つぶ)っていた目を開け、「おはようございます」と言った。
  

「瞑想のじゃましたね」
裕也は、ばつが悪そうに言う。
「挨拶の方が大切です。『祈りの間』じゃないし」
エディケは、率直に言う。

「私も、そう思います」
裕也も挨拶の方が大切だと思った。
  

階段を上がる。
幾つかの部屋が見える。祈りと法説の部屋である。声が聞こえる。

「アジェスタさんは、どこですか？」
裕也は、もうそろそろ手紙の主に会えるかとエディケに尋ねてみる。
  
右端の部屋の前に人影が見える。
「あちらに見える方です」
エディケは、大役が果たせたと嬉しそうに言う。
「祐也、こっちです。
　よく来てくれました」
アジェスタは、裕也をハグした。  

「私は、夢で主は、争わない。と聞きました。
　その真意を確かめに来たのです」
裕也は、自分がここに来た目的を述べた。
  

「それを知るのは難しい。
　祐也、どうぞお入りください。
　エディケ、案内、ご苦労様でした」
エディケは、祐也と分かれて、祈りの部屋に入って行った。

それを知っている人もいないので公開捜査に踏み切った訳である。
裕也は、最初のキッチンのある部屋に着き、
テーブルの椅子に座った。
「ここの席でいいですか？」

「はい。どうぞ、そこの席に座ってください」

エディケは、夕食の前にどうしても聞きたいことがあった。
「そのペンダントは、どうしたのですか？
　どこで手に入れたのですか？」

裕也は、もう首に下げている効果がでたと思った。
でも、そう言う訳ではない。
エディケは、最初からそのペンダントを見つけていたのである。
「そのペンダントは、アジェスタさんから送られてきたものです。
　アジェスタをご存じですか？」

エディケは、そのペンダントが意味するものの信仰者である。
「私たちの預言者です。
　私たちは、『スターテス』はじめの者です。
　私が、あなたをアジェスタのところまで案内しましょう。
　今日は、ゆっくりお泊りください。
　明日、集会所にお連れします。
　アジェスタも喜びます。
　さあ。そうと決まれば食事です」

エディケは、言いたい事を言えて安堵（あんど）した。
食事を食卓に並べだす。

メリケン粉らしきものを焼いたナムと
グリーンのカレー汁のカップ、
そして、鳥のもも肉と大皿にサラダが盛り、
飲みものに牛の乳がコップに注がれたものを並べた。

並べ終わり、エディケは言う。
「大したおもてなしはできませんが召し上がってください」

祐也は、その歓迎に礼を言った。そして、明日の事を尋ねる。
「ありがとうございます。
　カールネイバは近いのですか？あの集会所？」

エディケは、口が重い。
「う、内緒です。
　秘密の場所なのです。
　さあ、食事です」

「…に感謝します」
２人は、手を合わせた。そして、祈る。

祐也は、「秘密」と言われたので、それ以上聞くのを止めた。話題を変えた。
「エディケさんは一人で暮らして居るのですか？」

裕也が尋ねた理由は、食卓に3人分の食事が用意されていたからです。

「娘が一人います。
　今、お使いに行っています」

ちょうどその時、ドアが開き、少女が入ってきた。
「ただいま」

「娘が帰ってきました。
　ご挨拶して、娘のアギです」

アギは、嬉しそうに挨拶する。
「アギです。こんにちわ」

祐也も挨拶する。
「ゆうやです」

アギは、久しぶりの来客に嬉しそうである。
「おじさんは、どこから来たの？」

祐也は、子供が好きである。それは、子供は純粋だからです。
「アメリカからだよ」

アギは、ペンダントを見て、インドに来た理由を考えた。
そして、やっぱり尋ねる。
「預言者に会いに来たの？」

「そうだよ」

「きっと幸運が訪れるわ」

アギは、裕也を祝福した。

そして、裕也は、食事を終わり客室に戻った。
ベッドに横になり、物思いにふけった。
（とうとう会える。
　仏法、いや、始まりか？
　始まりの法？
　それは一つ？
　イエス様が与えた疑問。
　私自身の生まれ来た意義？
　魔族と光の種族を結びつける。
　今、始まりにたどり着く時が来る）

そして、インドの夜がふけっていく。
