Sneaky Pie Brown is a tiger cat who writes mystery books.
Rita Mae Brown is the mother humanbeing who coworks with Sneaky.
The heroine detective cat is a gray tiger cat named Mrs. Murphy.
Mrs. Murphy lives with Harry, a young postmistrees of Crozet.
(It's no use to try finding Crozet in the map of Verginia state.)
So people in Crozet can easily find her on the counter of the post office.
Crozet is a very small town and has no postman. Everybody come to the post office to get their mails to be welcomed by Mrs. Murphy , Lady Tucker( a cogy dog) and Pewter (a gray cat). Mrs. Murph introduces Pewter as Shiflett's Market's shamelessy fat gray cat, who now lives with Harry and family.
(The other family members are two horse , a squirel, an owl and a snake who live in Harry's barn. )
There rests very little space to tell the story of this book.
I love this series of the cat detective Mrs. Murphy.
I love the fine illustrations of animals by Wendy Wray.
I love the conversations between these animals.
Especially in this book, Tucker plays the big action caracter like a title roll of Hollywood movie.
The last sentence of this fiction is this:
P.S. Dogs, get a cat to write for you!
The title has double meaning: muder of humanbeing and a bob cat prowling into the area of Mrs. Murphy. It attacks Mrs. Murphy and Tucker who escape into a hole of fox and stay for a night with fox.
Bantam hardcover edition published April 1998.
(I want this hardcover for the more beautiful printing of illustrations.)
