法華経方便品第二（はじまり）


その時、世尊（仏）
At that time, the World-Honored One
三昧から安らかに起き上がる
Rising calmly from the state of samadhi
舎利弗（釈迦の十大弟子の一人で智慧第一）に告げた
Informed Shariputra (a chief disciple of Buddha)
諸仏の智慧
The wisdom of the Buddhas
非常に深く、計り知れない
Profound and immeasurable
その智慧への門
The gateway to their wisdom
理解しがたく、入りがたい
Difficult to understand and enter
すべての声聞（仏弟子たち）
All Śrāvakas (voice-hearers)
辟支仏（縁覚。仏教の悟りを得た人の一つのカテゴリー）
Pratyekabuddhas (solitary Buddhas)
知ることができないこと
That which cannot be known
その理由は何であるか
What is the reason?
仏がかつて親しく接した
The Buddha once approached closely
百千萬億（非常に多い数のたとえ）
Hundreds of thousands of millions
数えきれないほど多くの仏
Innumerable Buddhas
すべてを尽くして修行する仏たち
Buddhas who fully complete their practice
計り知れない道法（教えや仏法）
Immeasurable Dharma teachings
勇ましく精一杯努力する
Vigorously and diligently striving
名声が広く知られている
Widely known and heard of
非常に深遠な境地を成し遂げる
Attain profound depths
かつてなかった仏法だが
Unprecedented Dharma
適宜に説いたところ
Expounded as appropriate
意味や趣旨が理解しがたい
Difficult to understand in intent
