■Fire alarm
The fire alarm in the library went off as I was studying here, and it gave me a short break from my studying (we have to "evacuate" the building no matter what has caused the alarm). I'm not sure what caused it, ...maybe someone's popcorn in a microwave.
I hear fire alarms quite often here in the U.S. People get used to "evacuate." When they hear an alarm, they stop whatever they're doing and leave the buildingimmediately slowly.
In Japan, I used to be surprised "W, What happend!?" at each time of alarm ringing (because it's rare), but here in the US, people don't get pacic at all. They just get annoyed, saying "oh gosh..., who did it?", and step out of the building. I guess they never believe some emergency happen.
It was good to evacuate from the cold library in such a nice day. In Williamsburg, the climate is so humid in summer, but I like the warm humid air. It smells green (like cut grass), wild flowers, and trees. So I breathed the air a lot:) and came back to the building. Ok, back to work now.
■Severe weather
It's good that I came home earlier tonight. There's thunder and lightning now.
