Yuya started walking toward the castle.
Streetlights light up wherever he goes.
The castle was built on a small hill.
There is a straight road to the castle.

裕也は、城に向かって歩き出した。
街灯が行く先々に灯（とも）りだす。
城は、小高い丘の上に建っていた。
城までは、一本道である。
彼は、「てくてく」歩く。
しばらくして、城の正門に着いた。
黒い石の城。塔らしきものが突き出ている。
夜のせいもあるが、全てが黒々している。
正面に木で造られた大きな門がある。
角を生やした悪魔の面が飾られている。
「中に用がある。開門したまえ」
裕也は、ありったけの大声で怒鳴（どな）った。
「ぎぃぎぃいいいいい」
門が開き。二人の大男が出てきた。
黒い甲冑に黒い肌。顏もマスクに覆われている。
その中、２つ開いたマスクの窓から青い目が光っている。
「裕也か？」
「そうだ」裕也は答えた。
「付いてくるがいい。女王がお待ちだ」黒い甲冑の門兵が言った。

門を抜け、城の中に入る。
奥に広間が見える。
明かりと大勢の声が漏れてくる。
「何か宴会でもしてるのですか？」裕也は黒兵に聞いた。
黒兵は、何も答えない。
しばらく進んで、広間に着いた。
周りに観客席があり大勢の人、いや、魔族の民が居た。
みんな、甲冑に身を固めていた。
正面には、バルコニーが有り、女性が佇（たたず）んでいた。
王娘（おうじょ）である。
そして、その隣に老女が立っている。
腰を屈め、醜い顔をしている。女王である。
裕也は、姫の顔を凝視した。
「真菜美か？」
「裕也！」王娘が答えた。
「真菜美。無事でよかった」裕也は、ほっとした。

広場に、高らかにラッパの音が響く。
「パパラッパパ」
「今より闘技を行う。
これは、信仰の強さを問う競技でもある。
優勝者には、王娘と王座を与える」
「裕也。席につくのだ」黒兵が言った。
広場の一階には、大きな円が中央に描かれていた。
そして、その周りに１６対になった２つの椅子が置かれ、
それぞれの椅子に闘技者が座っていた。
裕也は、その椅子の一つに連れていかれた。
目の前に、一つ空いた椅子があった。
