男２人ロマンティック街道の旅 (Die Romantische Strasse)

北はヴュルツブルグを起点に、南はフュッセンに至るまで、
世界的にも有名なドイツのロマンティック街道へ先週末は行ってました。

ナビ片手にミュンヘン空港でフォルクスワーゲン・ポロを借り、
・アウグスブルク（なんと紀元前15年から存在！）
・ネルトリンゲン（世界史などで出てきた円形の街）
・ローテンブルグ（ドイツ観光の目玉！）
・フュッセン（アルプス麓、ノイシュバンシュタイン城へすぐ）
を回ってくる・・・予定でしたが・・・いろいろと波乱万丈の旅でした。

まずはレンタカー。
・何度やってもすぐエンスト（←1stと3rdの区別がつかなかっただけでした）
・ライトはどう点ける？（←なんとか判明）
・サイドミラーの操作は？（←これも時期判明）
・ガソリンは？（←聞きそびれました・・・で？）
などの問題に見舞われつつ、
とりあえずアウグスブルクとネルトリンゲンを制覇。
で、車でヴュルツブルグへ向かっている途中に・・・

警察に捕まり、しばらく拘束されました・・・（泣）

理由はスピード違反でもなんでもなく、
・僕の日本の運転免許証不携帯（国際免許は持ってましたが）
・友人の仏ビザ不所持（これは不要だと思いますが）
で、検事が罰金を請求するからお金はいくら持ってるか？だの、
車は乗れないから置いていけ！だの、言われつつ、
運転免許はともかく、友人のビザは不法連行だと思われるので、
２人でむかつきつつも反論を続けてました。
で、結局、運転免許の件のみで立件され、開放されたのですが、
後日罰金を請求されるかもしれないとのこと。
ただ、レンタカーのほうは多額の追加請求はなさそうなので、
まぁ、あとは行く末を見守るだけですね。。。
尋問中？にも言いましたが、ちょっと連行内容について、
在ドイツ日本大使館にコンタクトをとってみるつもりです。

で、車を失った僕らは結局その街に宿泊。
不幸中の幸いか、観光名所のローテンブルクだったので、
夜は中央広場（写真）でやけ食い＆やけ酒でしたね。

We visited the world-famous Romantic Street which starts from
Wurzburg to Fussen last week.

With GPS navigations system and VW Poro, we planned to visit:
- Augsburg (existing since 15 B.C.!)
- Nordlingen (city within circular wall)
- Rothenburg (major touristy spot in Germany)
- Fussen (at the foot of Alpes, next to Neuschwanstein castle)
but...

First of all, we had in trouble with rent-a-car:
- hard to start properly (I was starting with 3rd gear...)
- not knowing how to turn the light on (found soon...)
- not knowing how to adjust side mirror (found soon...)
- what kind of gasoline to be filled? (finally...)
Although we had a little hard time to solve those problems,
we successfully visited Augsburg and Nordlingen,
then when going to Wurzburg on Autobahn...

We were arrested by Police and taken to Police station!

The reason was not speeding, but:
- Not holding Japanese driver's license (for me)
- Not holding French VISA (for my friend)
Then, we were said:
- How much money do you have? (as prosecuter would charge fine with us)
- Leave our rent-a-car at the police station.
and so on...
As we believed that my friend did not have to have French VISA to stay in EU countries within 3 months,
we argued that point, negotiating in a tough manner.
Though policemen did not change their opinions,
my friend did not have to be charged fines as we insisted.
We were freed only with my fault but had to leave our car there.
However, as I was not convinced by their argument with my friend's issue,
I plan to contact with Japanese embassy in Germany soon.

Anyway, although we had to stay in the city,
fortunately it was Rothenburg, one of the cities we'd like to visit.
We tried to mitigate our frustlation with eating and drinking a lot there...
