野外演劇/音楽祭 (Outdoor musical/play festival)

この時期（7-8月）のプロヴァンスは各地で演劇/音楽祭が
開催されているようですが、アルルでもバレエをやっているということで、
こちらもチケットを入手していそいそと出かけてみました。

歌も場内アナウンスももちろんフランス語ですが、
基本的には演劇形式のバレエなので、
言葉が分からない僕らも十分楽しむことが出来ました♪

こういう皆で楽しめる文化が多く残っている欧州は
やっぱりいいところだなと再認識しましたね。

During the summer season, there were a lot of outdoor musical/play festivals in Provence region.
Here in Arles, we could enjoy watching ballet at Roman theatre.

Although both songs and announcements were French,
we, international people, could enjoy watching it
as it was ballet with some body languages.

I really envy the Europeans who have this kind of events
that can be shared and enjoyed by all of them.

闘牛？ (Bull fighting?)

アルルにはローマ時代の闘技場がありますが、
観光案内所で偶然、闘牛が17:00からあるという情報を入手。
というわけで、早速行ってみました♪

個人的には初めてでしたが、ここの闘牛は数人の男性が
牛の頭についている飾り？等を取るシステムのようで、
如何に近づいて、如何に逃げるか、が勝負です。
多分、これをこなすと１人前とか言われるんでしょうねぇ・・・
（僕には無理そう・・・）

There is an amphitheatre built in Romam period in Arles.
We coincidentally got the news that there would be a bullfight at 17:00
and visited there at that time.

This is my first experience to watch a bull fighiting.
It seemed to be different (?) from that in Spain;
some young guys try to take something put on the bull's head,
avoiding being injured by its hones by running out of fense.
Maybe it would make them respected as a man of the men by others.
(I would not be able to do so...)

真夜中のカフェテラス (La cafe, la nuit)

がある街、アルルは今回の旅で最も訪れたかった場所の１つです。
最近では某電機メーカーのCMで用いられていましたが、
ゴッホの有名な絵画のモチーフになった？（または再現された？）カフェです。
中はちょっと陰気ですが、外はいい雰囲気でした。

試しにここで飯を食ってみましたが、質はちょっとイマイチ。
ギャルソンの人達の反応はいいので、カフェとして利用する方がベターでしょう。

（ちなみに写真は今回の旅の連れであるInseadの同級生）

This drawing painted by Vincent Van Gogh is very famous.
The cafe here was used as a model (or replicated after that?).
I don't like the inside as it was dark and somewhat scary,
but like outside as it was open and bright.

The menu was not good in my opinion.
The attitude of garcons was good, so you can use it for pure cafe use.

２年連続 (In two consecutive years...)

フランスで迎えてしまいました。

・・・何が？
実は誕生日なんです。。。

去年は語学学校の友達（日本人）に、
で今年はInseadの同級生とその友達（中国人）に
偶然ながら祝ってもらえました。＜ありがたや

で、今年はお祝いとしてマルセイユにあるミラマールで
本場のブイヤベース（実は２回目！）を堪能しました。
今回はロブスター無しで・・・

友達に『母親に電話しないのか？』と言われましたが、
時差の関係で時既に遅し。
ですが、母からはきちんとメールをもらっていました。
いやはや、有難いことです。

I had my birthday in France!

Last year: my friends in French language school (Japanese)
This year: my Insead classmate and her friend (Chinese)
celebrated my birthday coincidentally.
I was really happy to share such time with them.

So, we had special dinner of 'real' bouillabaisse at Miramar in Marceille.
(This was my 2nd opportunity!)

My friend asked me for calling to my mom;
but it was too late due to the time difference b/w Japan and France.
However, I've got an e-mail from her.
These kind of relationship is really precious for my life, I think.
