トゥールーズ (Toulouse)

と言えば、日本人にはおなじみ？
サッカーワールドカップ・フランス大会で日本が試合をした場所ですね。
来てみると結構大きな街。
セール真っ盛りとあって、友達は大はしゃぎでした。

ここではこちらの地方料理、カスレを池袋やパリでも見たFLOのお店で堪能♪
ちょっとお昼には大めでしたが、とても美味しかったです。

また、これまで一緒に旅してきた友達の友達の中国人がここでお別れ。
彼はその日のうちにリヨンまで無事に帰れたようで何よりです。

Maybe Toulouse is very famous to Japanese;
this city is the place where Japanese national football team
fought in World Cup France 2002.

This city is bigger than I expected;
my friend was very excited for the bargain sales in many shops.

Here, I could enjoy eating the Cassoulet, famous traditional cuisine
in this region.
A little too much for lunch, but was very good!

And one of my tour mates, Chinese, had to leave here back to Lyon.
Thanks to him, the journy was really funny and interesting.

アンドラ (Andorra)

どれだけの方がご存知か分かりませんが、
アンドラは列記とした国なのです！
おそらく世界で３番目に小さい国（ヴァチカン、モナコに次ぐ？）で、
スペインとフランスの間に位置しています。
公用語はカタルーニャ語で通貨はユーロ。
免税で買い物できるとあり、週末はフランス・スペイン両国から
買い物客が訪れるようです（しかも今はセールの時期・・・）。

訪れてみた印象は『スキーリゾート地』。
スキーの合間に免税ショッピングなんかが王道なんでしょうねぇ。
ウォートンで出会ったアンドラ人はこのブログを見てるのかなぁ？

Don't know how many people in Japan know this country;
however, Andorra is definitely the country in the world!
Probably the 3rd smallest country in the world next to Vatican and Monaco,
locating in between France and Spain.
Official language is Catalunya, the currency is Euro.
All shopping is tax free, so a lot of people seem to visit here during weekends.
(And now is the bargain season...)

My impression is 'Ski resort.'
Tax free shopping after skiing would be very nice...
I wonder my friend at Wharton from Andorra knows this site...

カルカッソンヌ (Carcassonne)

ラングドック地方（ピレネー山脈の辺り）の著名観光地、
カルカッソンヌへはアルルなどから車で２時間でした。

Inseadのケースでも、ライアンエアーがイギリス-カルカッソンヌ間の
ルートを開拓したということで登場していましたが、
フランスでも代表的な観光地です。

ここにはガロ・ローマン時代に２重に造られた城砦都市（シテ）があり、
モン・サン・ミシェルやエズなどと共通の雰囲気（まるで迷路？）を味わえます。
ちなみにここでは地方名物のロックフォールチーズ
（世界3大ブルーチーズの1つ）のピザを堪能しました♪
駆け足でしたが、印象に残る都市でしたね。

Carcassonne is the 2nd famous touristy place in Languedoc region,
2 hours drive from Provence (Arles).

We found this city in the case study at Insead;
Ryan air pioneered to establish the route from England to Carcassonne.

Here is the fortress called 'Cite' built in ancient Roman period,
exuding the ancient atmosphere which is similar to those in Eze and Mont-St-Michel.
It' like a maze.
I also could enjoy the Roquefort cheeze pizza here.
Although we did not have enought time to see around,
this city was very impressive to me.

ポン・ヴァン・ゴッホ (Pont Van Gogh)

フランスに来て俄然興味を持った画家がゴッホなんですが、
アルルの町の外れにそのゴッホの絵を再現した、ヴァン・ゴッホ橋があります。
橋の側には絵の立看板も置いてあり、見比べることも出来ました。
いやー、満足、満足。

Vincent Van Gogh is the artist I've been interested in after coming to France.
So, visiting Pont Van Gogh is my major objective during this trip.

This bridge was built based on the painting he drawed.
The painting was also seen at the spot.

I'm really satisfied...

古代ローマの水道橋 (Pont Du Gard)

プロヴァンス地方の目玉観光地の１つと言えば、このポン・デュ・ガール！
ローマ時代の水道橋が今もきちんと保存されています。
もちろん、世界遺産に登録されています。

南仏にはこのような橋が多いこと、多いこと。
ドライブしてるとしょっちゅうめぐり合います。
ただし、これは2000年も以前に造られているということで別格ですね。
下の川では川遊びをしている人達もいて本当に気持ちよさそうでした。

This is the Pont Du Gard, the major touristy spot in Provence.
The bridge used to deliver water and built over 2000 years ago,
one of the world heritages.

You can see these kind of bridges anywhere in France,
especially when you drive there.
This bridge is the masterpiece of them!

Under the bridge, there were some people enjoying swimming and so on.
It appeared really nice...

アルルの民族衣装パレード (Traditional parade in Arles)

アルルに滞在している時にちょうど民族衣装でのパレードを見ることが出来ました。
ちっちゃな子供からお年を召した方まで、皆が皆民族衣装を着てパレードする様は
なかなか壮観で楽しそうでもありましたね。

もちろん、観光客は写真とりまくり。
この写真も絵葉書みたいでいいでしょ？（笑）

When staying in Arles, we happend to watch the parade of people in traditional costumes.
All citizens from kids to elders wore nice costumes, appearing to enjoy it.

Of course, there were a lot of tourists (even from Japan)!
I like this picture as it's like a postcard.

野外演劇/音楽祭 (Outdoor musical/play festival)

この時期（7-8月）のプロヴァンスは各地で演劇/音楽祭が
開催されているようですが、アルルでもバレエをやっているということで、
こちらもチケットを入手していそいそと出かけてみました。

歌も場内アナウンスももちろんフランス語ですが、
基本的には演劇形式のバレエなので、
言葉が分からない僕らも十分楽しむことが出来ました♪

こういう皆で楽しめる文化が多く残っている欧州は
やっぱりいいところだなと再認識しましたね。

During the summer season, there were a lot of outdoor musical/play festivals in Provence region.
Here in Arles, we could enjoy watching ballet at Roman theatre.

Although both songs and announcements were French,
we, international people, could enjoy watching it
as it was ballet with some body languages.

I really envy the Europeans who have this kind of events
that can be shared and enjoyed by all of them.

闘牛？ (Bull fighting?)

アルルにはローマ時代の闘技場がありますが、
観光案内所で偶然、闘牛が17:00からあるという情報を入手。
というわけで、早速行ってみました♪

個人的には初めてでしたが、ここの闘牛は数人の男性が
牛の頭についている飾り？等を取るシステムのようで、
如何に近づいて、如何に逃げるか、が勝負です。
多分、これをこなすと１人前とか言われるんでしょうねぇ・・・
（僕には無理そう・・・）

There is an amphitheatre built in Romam period in Arles.
We coincidentally got the news that there would be a bullfight at 17:00
and visited there at that time.

This is my first experience to watch a bull fighiting.
It seemed to be different (?) from that in Spain;
some young guys try to take something put on the bull's head,
avoiding being injured by its hones by running out of fense.
Maybe it would make them respected as a man of the men by others.
(I would not be able to do so...)

真夜中のカフェテラス (La cafe, la nuit)

がある街、アルルは今回の旅で最も訪れたかった場所の１つです。
最近では某電機メーカーのCMで用いられていましたが、
ゴッホの有名な絵画のモチーフになった？（または再現された？）カフェです。
中はちょっと陰気ですが、外はいい雰囲気でした。

試しにここで飯を食ってみましたが、質はちょっとイマイチ。
ギャルソンの人達の反応はいいので、カフェとして利用する方がベターでしょう。

（ちなみに写真は今回の旅の連れであるInseadの同級生）

This drawing painted by Vincent Van Gogh is very famous.
The cafe here was used as a model (or replicated after that?).
I don't like the inside as it was dark and somewhat scary,
but like outside as it was open and bright.

The menu was not good in my opinion.
The attitude of garcons was good, so you can use it for pure cafe use.

２年連続 (In two consecutive years...)

フランスで迎えてしまいました。

・・・何が？
実は誕生日なんです。。。

去年は語学学校の友達（日本人）に、
で今年はInseadの同級生とその友達（中国人）に
偶然ながら祝ってもらえました。＜ありがたや

で、今年はお祝いとしてマルセイユにあるミラマールで
本場のブイヤベース（実は２回目！）を堪能しました。
今回はロブスター無しで・・・

友達に『母親に電話しないのか？』と言われましたが、
時差の関係で時既に遅し。
ですが、母からはきちんとメールをもらっていました。
いやはや、有難いことです。

I had my birthday in France!

Last year: my friends in French language school (Japanese)
This year: my Insead classmate and her friend (Chinese)
celebrated my birthday coincidentally.
I was really happy to share such time with them.

So, we had special dinner of 'real' bouillabaisse at Miramar in Marceille.
(This was my 2nd opportunity!)

My friend asked me for calling to my mom;
but it was too late due to the time difference b/w Japan and France.
However, I've got an e-mail from her.
These kind of relationship is really precious for my life, I think.
