The parents of a 50-year-old man who was hospitalized at a psychiatric hospital in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture, have filed a lawsuit seeking approximately 57 million yen in damages, claiming that the hospital's failure to supervise and patrol the patient was the cause of his death.

According to the lawsuit, Takeshige Hatsuda (then 50 years old) was hospitalized at Akashi Tsuchiyama Hospital, a psychiatric hospital, in 2019 due to schizophrenia.

Hatsuda was hospitalized in an isolation room that could be locked from the outside for about two years, but in April 2021, he was found in the isolation room, choking to death with his breakfast bread stuffed down his throat.

Hatsuda's parents filed a lawsuit seeking 56.83 million yen in damages, claiming that the hospital failed to supervise and patrol the room during meals.

At a press conference on the 26th, the parents said, "We trusted the doctors and believed that they were doing their best to treat us. It breaks my heart to understand what my son was feeling. We hope that no one like this will ever happen again."

Akashi Tsuchiyama Hospital responded to an interview by saying, "We cannot answer any questions."

It's hard to believe what psychiatrists do.

When a choking accident in an isolation room is reported, psychiatric hospitals immediately issue a policy that prohibits bread from being served to patients in isolation and protective rooms.

There are countless cases of choking in psychiatric hospitalized patients.

So why do you think psychiatric hospitalized patients chok?

The cause is "treatment".

When it comes to psychiatric treatment, "pharmacotherapy" is considered the first choice.

Since patients chok from the side effects of taking psychiatric drugs, hospitalization must be done with caution.

Let's take a quick look at the relationship between the side effects of psychiatric drugs and death by choking.

Side effects of drugs:

① Extrapyramidal symptoms

Continued use of psychotropic drugs causes extrapyramidal symptoms called EPS, which lead to movement disorders.

One of these movement disorders is a decrease in swallowing function (a decrease in the ability to swallow food).

② Anticholinergic effects

Continued use of psychotropic drugs leads to autonomic dysfunction, sympathetic dominance, and an inability to live a calm life.

Furthermore, when sympathetic dominance occurs, a physical symptom is dry mouth to make breathing easier. This is called excessive dry mouth.

This is the state of patients who are long-term hospitalized in psychiatric hospitals, who are constantly drinking fluids such as tea and water.

In fact, if you put dry bread in a dry mouth, you are more likely to aspire.

③ Taste nerve disorder

The nerves that control taste are damaged by the effects of psychotropic drugs, resulting in a lack of taste sensitivity.

Long-term use of drugs destroys the brain nerves.

This leads to the next cognitive decline.

④ Cognitive impairment, drug-induced negative symptoms

Drug side effects reduce cognitive function and overall brain activity, which intensifies primitive desires.

⑤ Closed environment

Finally, isolated confinement is one of the causes.

Life in a psychiatric hospital is full of closed wards, so the entrances are locked 24 hours a day and patients cannot enter and exit freely.

It is the same environment as animals in a zoo.

Like animals in a zoo, humans locked in a prison called a closed environment have only the three basic needs of hunger, sleep, and sex to enjoy.

Therefore, they eat quickly because school lunches are their only source of enjoyment.

People who develop taste disorders and cannot taste food unless they eat "quickly and in large quantities" naturally tend to eat quickly.

As a result, they will swallow dry food.

So who is responsible for choking accidents in psychiatric hospitals?

I think there are three sources of responsibility: 1) psychiatric care, 2) the family, and 3) the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

① Psychiatric care

Drug damage, that is, there is no other way to describe it than the adverse effects of drug therapy.

In other words, death by suffocation due to a medical illness.

② Family

It is the responsibility of the family that hospitalized the patient.

Many of the people who are hospitalized in psychiatric hospitals are "hikikomori" + "people who get violent at home".

The families have the psychiatric hospital take care of their older children who can no longer live with them.

There seems to be a problem with the education system and child-rearing environment that produces "hikikomori who get violent at home".

③ Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare

Finally, it is the fact that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare "recognizes this system as medical care".

And the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is responsible for maintaining a medical fee system that allows hospitals to operate even if the hospitalization is prolonged.

① and ③ can be avoided if the patient is not hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital.

However, in order to prevent ② "hikikomori", child-rearing and home education are the basis.

Is there a solution to "child-rearing that produces hikikomori"?

~~~~~~~~~~~
The medical field has become a dumping ground for social nuisances such as the elderly and hikikomori.
Each and every one of us is born with a value in life.
However, in order to bring out that value, we each need to make an effort.
If we put our efforts in the wrong direction, we will be pushed out of society, lose confidence, and become "hikikomori."
How can we make our individual talents shine?
Is success guaranteed if we study hard for exams or play sports?
No.
Unfortunately, the Rapt Blog makes it clear that only 1% of people are guaranteed to succeed, and that is only guaranteed to happen if they are upper-class citizens.
Even if they do succeed, they will be taken in by the upper class through a manipulator or honey trap, and a life of downfall awaits.
Experts lecture us that "there is no right way to raise children," but that is not true.
There is a right way to raise children.
It's just that the experts out there just don't know.
How should we raise our children in this complicated society?
If we know how to do this, we can protect our children from psychiatric treatment.
I hope that by reading and practicing the following article about the correct way to raise children, those who are struggling with child rearing and those who are struggling with social withdrawal will be saved.
"You don't have to force yourself to raise your children" My experience of realizing even more that children will naturally grow as parents grow according to God's Word (Testimony of Tomo, a reader of the RAPT blog) Life, February 7, 2024 https://rapt-plusalpha.com/95198/"
