二重限定

Ａ（最近の人々）がチャネルＸ（モバイル端末）を通して行っていることで、Ｂ（ヤフーとか）がチャネルＹ（固定のパソコン）を通してＡに提供していることと全く異なることは何か？

2つ目のthatの先行詞はchannel Xではなく、it。

以下と同じ？
(2) What is it that A is doing through the channel X and that is quite distinct from what B is delivering A through the channel Y?（2つ目のthatの先行詞はchannel Xでなくitであることが明らか）

(3) What is it that A is doing through the channel X (and) which is quite distinct from what B is delivering A through the channel Y?

ニュアンスが違うだけ？どんな違い？まあ、どっちも多分大差無いような気もしますが・・・。

(1)では、文法的にはthe channel Xもthatの先行詞と考えられると思うが、実際の文章の意図はそうではない。それは所謂「文章全体の意味」から明らか。音声の場合は特に、最初のWhat is itが脳裏に残り、あくまで知りたい、聞きたいのは最初のWhat is itであることが一時メモリされて、that is quite distinctはchannel Xではなくitに係る、ように感じるのかなと思います。文法では関係代名詞の二重限定と言うのだろうと思いますが、英文解釈ではなく、英作文をする場合に時々迷います。特に特許和英翻訳の場合、長くするのも嫌だし、かと言って意味が曖昧でも困るので迷ってしまいます。

(2)の形を使えば済むのでしょうか？

特許明細書では疑問文を訳す必要があることは滅多にない。発明の内容によっては会話が登場する場合もありますが。で、上の文を肯定文にしてみました。

Ａ（最近の人々）がチャネルＸ（モバイル端末）を通して行っていることで、Ｂ（ヤフーとか）がチャネルＹ（固定のパソコン）を通してＡに提供していることと全く異なることはこれである。

このようなパターンは特許でもたまにある。これを英訳する場合、
What A is doing through the channel X that is quite distinct from what B is delivering A through the channel Y is this.
でもちろん問題ないと思いますが、

(4) What A is doing through the channel X that is not always available to us is this.
となると、thatの先行詞はどうなのか？whatとも、channel Xとも取れるのでは？やはり文脈から判断するしかない、ということなんでしょうか？

特許英訳の場合、channel Xを修飾するなら、
(5) What A is doing through the channel X, the channel X being not always available to us, is this.
のような感じで処理する場合が多いような気がします。
声を出して読む時のアクセントの付け方、文章の切り方によるのかな？
例えば、
(6) What A is doing through the channel X, which is not always available to us, is this.
の場合、whichの先行詞はchannel Xであることが多分明らか・・・かな？

Whatの修飾であることを明確にするには、
What A is doing through the channel X and that is not always available to us is this.
でいいんでしょうか？？
and無しの場合と、ちょっと違うんじゃないか？
