FM100 milling machine, forc-knives

Conchita, here is the first photo of my new
milling machine on the bench. It and the bandsaw
seem so cloe together, but they are not!

I have enough room for turning the handles in
X and Y directions. If any, I even have some more
bench space to the left side of the machine.

This will be pretty much useful, I think.

Here below, propellers. These, why they sell well
beats m... They are not exactly cheap, at something
like JPY 500.

Here below, oak chopstics. They look whitish at this
moment, but as the coating continues they will gain
deeper hue... We will see.

Today, I wanted to get on with those forc-knives
with the new milling machine. When I looked at the vise
I found a problem.

Can you see two protrusion in black at the centre
of this photo? The protrusion is in the Y direction
and they will interfere with the dust protection

(accordion) cover to the left of them. The vise and
the cross-table are almst at the end of the Y limit.
I needed to remove these protrusions.

This is where my other machine, a metal cutting
bandsaw comes in.

You now see the cut protrusions. These are soft iron
bars with 15mm diam. Normally, you cannot expetct
to be able to cut these thick pieces.

That is part of the power of my investment. I now
have a complete arsenal of machining machines.
If I wanted I could make even these machines myself!

See below?

The very first of the forc-knives is being cut
with the new miling machine. It makes me think...
In many ways it is the culmination of my

investment. I now have a complete set of machining
machines. OK, I am using them right now for my wood work,
but these are meant for metal working.

Steel, soft iron, brass, copper, etc etc. I will be doing
just that in the near future, and by going CNC.

In the meantime, the forc-knives will be tried out
tommorrow. The side bands were bodned some time ago.
I will see if I can turn them into what I want...
