強豪、マーチンカイマーやデビュソンをしりぞける。

“This tournament is very special to me. It’s one of the biggest events we have on Tour every year and probably the most tradition, the oldest one on Continental Europe.

“I’m very proud to be on the winner's list now, on this trophy dating back to 1906 it says here. It's amazing and it was a great week. I really enjoyed playing in front of these crowds here and performing the way I did.

“I have to say, James Morrison who I played with played great golf, as well, and gave me a good run which made it quite tight at the end.” 

 

Morrison dropped only one shot over the last three rounds, but the Open de España winner could not keep up with his playing partner’s remarkable scoring – although a bold tee shot to the 16th and a fourth birdie of the day from six feet did set up a tense finish.

A final round 67 gave him outright second on ten under par, and the considerable consolation of one of three places in The Open Championship at St Andrews in two weeks’ time.

“My game is improving every day; I'm doing all the right things,” said the 30 year old Morrison.

“Bernd played too perfectly today. He won the golf tournament, it’s as simple as that. He played fantastic.”

この人の名前をしっかり、覚えておこう。ウイズバーカーである。最終ホール、追いかけていたカイマーは、ピンに絡んだボールが、スピンがかかり、手前の池へ、万事休すである。フランス期待のデビュソンは、今年は、安定力を欠いて、線上に浮上しなかったのは残念。

遅咲きながら、ツアーの牽引車になれる岩田　寛の　優勝

練習の虫が、ようやくその道を開いた。

ツアースポンサーの低俗化の中、誰も見なくなったトーナメントが増える。テレヴィでゴルフゲームは、消えた。

欧米へ行って、活躍できる選手は、今、岩田以外には、いない。

 

ゴルフも佳境に入って、はや、日本では折り返し、後半に突入する。折り返しのイベントは、Sega Sammy　招待ゲーム　ザノースカントリー、北海道で開催、賞金は優勝、３０００万円。

練習熱心で、プロらしい寡黙の選手、岩田寛が、１６アンダーで優勝した。２３歳の今平周吾が、若いながら、見事なゴルフを見せて、堂々の１５アンダーで２位についた。これから、ツアーを引っ張る可能性のあるジュニア時代は、英樹さえ破った実力者である。それにしても、WGC中国で、今一歩で優勝となるところであった岩田が、遅咲きながら、倍々の練習を重ね、これからの日本ツアーの原動力となるのは、約束されたようなものだ。飛距離も、海外組と引けを取らぬ３００ヤードを基準にゴルフをマネジメントできる選手だ。

スポーツプロは、寡黙で、実力を見せるのが、本物だ。男芸者みたいなプロが多い中、岩田寛、竹谷佳孝などの存在が、これからのJGTOを引っ張る選手であってほしい。派手な格好でタレント気味の選手は、社会から嫌われつつある。それは、海外の優勝者が、マクロイやスピースのように、派手な振る舞いがなく、身体障碍者やジュニアに当然と思えるほどの貢献に、日本人も気が付いているのである。

まずプロゴルファーは、謙虚であるべきだ。スポンサーがいるから、試合があるのではない。そのスポンサーは、目に見えないお客がいて、はじめて成り立っているのだ。ゴルフスポンサーが、底流化していく現在、一流どころの会社のイベントは、すでにない。ANA航空会社くらいだろう。トヨタも日産もキャノンも何もかも、はい、さようならとイベントを辞めた。宣伝になるのに、と社会が思っていても、ゴルフのスポンサーが、低俗化した今、価値がないと判断したのだ。商売にしてきた電通さえ、スポンサーが自由にならず、顎を出している始末で、アメリカのような体制にはならない。

一流企業のスポンサーによるトーナメントの復活は、当分、日の目を見ない。日本のゴルフは、イベントの世界も、ゴルフ場経営も、ゴルファーも、座礁した船の上で、どうすれば、生きられるか、もがいているところである。なぜ、そうなっているのか、わかりますか。？？？？

 先日ドイツテレビが取材に来て１時間ほどインタビュー録画をしていった。慰安婦問題について記者がいきなり、慰安婦に日本軍がレイプ暴行という戦争犯罪を犯したしたことについてどう思うかと質問してきたのにはびっくりした。

　ちょっと誤解しているのではないか、慰安婦制度は「強姦」などを防止するために導入したのであり、慰安婦は高い対価を得て商売として売春をしていたのであり、レイプなどとは全く違うよ、と答えたのであるが、海外ではこれほどのひどい誤解が広まっていることに改めて驚いた次第である。

　本書は、作者が１０歳の時にソウル北方４０キロほどの村に住んでいる時に朝鮮戦争が起こり、村を「解放」してくれたはずの連合軍（米軍）が村の女性を襲う婦女強姦が多発し、「米軍売春村」の設置によってその解決がなされたことを体験したことを基に、戦争と性、売春についての考察を行ったものである。

　「慰安婦問題」を考える上で、非常に参考となる本、と言うか必読の書であると考え、著者のご承諾を得て、英訳して広く紹介することにした次第である。

The Origins of the US Army's Korean Comfort Women ( HEART PRESS)

(1)   Introduction

  Recently I had a one hour interview with ZDF German Television at my office.

I was amazed, that at the outset of the interview, the correspondent raised a question concerning the comfort women issue, “What do you think about the Japanese Army’s war crimes of rape and violence?”

   I told him that the comfort women system had been introduced in order to prevent possible “rape and sexual violence.” I explained to him that the comfort women made their business as prostitute, earning a lot of money, so there was no “rape” to speak of.

   I have once again realized how far the misconception about the comfort women has spread overseas.

   This book was written by a Korean professor, who experienced the Korean War when he was ten years old. He lived in a village about 40 kilometers north of Seoul when the Korean War erupted. He encountered the goings-on of the liberators-to-be US-led UN Army. They perpetrated dreadful acts of sexual violence against women in the village. The only solution open the residents to solve this problem was to accept prostitution in the village.

   The author stresses that this is the story of the US Army's comfort women, a story which neither Japan, Korea nor international society can ignore when discussing the comfort women problem. Based on his own experiences, the author discusses war, sex and prostitution from a wide range of viewpoints.

   The contents of the book will be introduced chapter by chapter as a serial with this Newsletter. The first part is the Introduction and the Contents.
