FMTV とは聞きなれない名前だが、Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle の略である。

The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) is a series of vehicles that was manufactured by BAE Systems Land and Armaments (until 2011 when Oshkosh Corporation began producing the fleet) based on a common chassis, which vary by payload and mission requirements. The FMTV were derived from the Austrian military truck Steyr12M18. The Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) has a 2.5-ton capacity (cargo and van models). The Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV) has a 5-ton capacity .

　Famiy (家族）というキーワードが入るので家族で楽しめるレジャー用トラックか？と思ってしまうが、そうではない。オーストラリアのミリタリートラックである。ファミリーのキーワードはミリタリー車両の中のファミリーだという事だ。

 

 

 GLOBAL EXPEDITION VEHICLE

アメリカのミズウリを拠点に４ｘ４オーバーランドトラックの製作を手掛けている。

彼らは今、このミリタリートラックに注目している。

 

このトラックのモデルは

ＳＤ　Brazos

ＳＤはSevere Duty の略である。

 

見た目は実用トラックである。

近づいて見ると違いが一目瞭然

 

この様な４ｘ４フォワードコントロールトラックがどれ程アメリカに広まるかは未知数である。

高まるアメリカのオーバーランドの熱狂の中に、キャンピングスタイルや装備だけではなく、

それに混ざってトラックまで入って来たという感じだ。

 

さて、GEVがこれをどの様に料理するのか楽しみである。
