I am slowly moving on to new things.
Today started with me taking my wife to her regular.
That knocked off some of my time, but then it is nothing
new...
The first pic is the current lot basking in the sunshine.
Conchita, polyurethane has saturated and the surfaces
are now glossy even before being subjected to
further surface treatments!
It is one of the most rewarding aspects of my coating.
Three images to follow showing the status after the
first of surface reinforcement coatings. Take a good
look at the first.
Can you see the side bars either in dark, almost
black, or in brownish colours? Dark ones are
walnut, the brown the Borneo iron wood.
You might see better with this image the brown colour
of the Borneo iron wood. This has tured out to be
much better than I had imagined. I am happy.
I am particularly attracted by the colour contrast.
These side bars are walnut, lovely, are they not?
More protective coatings will be applied and they will
get better and better.
I then went to buy some more pegs for my egg placers.
I was shocked to learn that the DIY shop I frequent to
will be closing down at the end of this year.
I have enough stocked for my immediate purposes,
but then I will have to sort things out.
One good thing is that a belt sander I have been wanting to
buy for such a long time by now is on sale at a
very much reduced price. I think I will go for it.
I will have to think about consumables, too.
I do have another larger DIY shop in the area, so
this is not the end of the world.
Still, it is a blow...
Above? Yes, I am dead serious about my egg placers.
Today, I cut them out and sanded them in preparation
for hole making.
All this makes me think... a considerable amount of
my time is taken up by merely having these plates
ready for drilling.
All this because I do not have means to prepare
neat planar surfaces. I could purchae an automatic
plane, but I have absolutely no space for that.
This afternoon, I was toying with the idea of
using my table saw. I might take a renewed look
at it...in case it might give me plane surfaces.
I need to use a jig, though... That is a pain
in the neck.
