「六人じゃなかったの？さっき六人いたよ。だからお団子を六つ持って来たんだ」
Weren't there six of you? You were six,so I brought six of them.
「あんたの間違いよ。いいからこれは、あんたが食べなさい」
You're wrong. But you can have the extra one.
「僕はもう食べたよ」
I already had mine.
「おかしいなあ」
That's strange.
「姉さん、さっきはたしかに六人いたのに、誰か帰った？」
There were six of you. Has anyone left?
「誰も」
No.
「姉さん、ほんとうにもう一人いたんだ」
I'm sure there was one more.
「変なこと言わないでよ！いいからあんた、向こうに行ってなさい」
Don't be silly.That's enough.
「やっぱりいるよ！」
She's there.
「誰が？」
Who?
「知らない子だけど」
A girl.
「誰もいないじゃない」
No one's there.
「いたんだよ、あそこに」
She was there.
「あんた、また熱出したのね」
You have another fever?
「熱なんかないよ！ それより、あの子、誰？」
Tell me… Who is she?
「だいじょうぶ？」
Are you all right?
「お待ち！どこへ行くの？出てっちゃだめよ！」
Wait! Where are you going? You're not allowed out.
【人形たちとの対話】
「そこの子供、お前に言いたい事がある」
Hey there,little boy!We have something to tell you.
「よくお聞き。わたくし達はもう、お前の家へは行かない」
Listen carefully.We'll never go to your house again.
「なぜ？」
Why not?
「お前の家は、この桃の木をみんな切ってしまった」
Your family cut down all the peach trees in this orchard.
「ひな祭りは、桃の節句というだろう」
But“Doll Day”is for the peach blossoms.
「ひな祭りは、桃の木のお祭りよ」
It's to celebrate their arrival.
「ひな人形は、桃の木の化身だ」
We dolls personify the peach tree.
「桃の木の精、その花の、命よ」
We are the spirits of the trees,the life of the blossoms.
「その桃の木を切り倒して、なにがひな祭りだ」
How can you celebrate with these trees cut down?
「切り倒された桃の木は、みんな泣いています」
Those vanished trees are weeping in their sorrow.
「今更泣いても仕方がない」
Don't cry.Tears won't help.
「この子を責めるのはよしましょう。この子は、わたくし達が切られる時、泣いてくれた。切ってはだめだと、泣いてくれたのよ」
Stop blaming him.This child cried when they cut down our trees.He even tried to stop them.
「桃が食べられなくなるから泣いたんだ」
Yes.Because he likes peaches.
「違うよ！桃なら八百屋で買える。でも、花の咲いた桃畑は、どこで買うの？
僕はここが好きだから、花の咲いた、この桃畑が好きだから、それが切られて、もう見られなくなるのが、悲しくて泣いたんだ」
NO! Peaches can be bought.But where can you buy a whole orchard in bloom?
I love this orchard and the peach trees which bloomed here.But they're not here anymore.That's why I cried.
「ようし、わかった。この子は、いい子だ。
この子にもういちど、この桃畑の花ざかりを、見せてやろう」
Very well.I understand.He is a good boy.
Shall we allow him to see our peach orchard in bloom once more?
