A scene which tells a story (Grade 2) Part 2

The japanese page is this page.

Students from Class C.

I have a picture for the story ‘The Big, Big turnip’.

We told the story together as a class about the turnip so big.

We held hands to try and show how big.

Really?! This big??’ people said with surprise.

Ms.T got a big vine from the giant turnip.

‘This is the vine of the turnip, everyone let’s pull’,

and everyone enthusiastically called ‘Heave-ho!’,

And pulled on the vine.

The newspaper started to creak; a-aa-aa-a and out popped the giant turnip!

Everyone is so happy to have got the turnip out.

Everyone worked together.

Lots of small Grade 2 hands rushed to get to the giant turnip.

It was a fun story to play out.

After hearing the story we continue to a picture.

You can imagine what was happening in the story by looking at the picture.

’Teacher, this person has eaten some turnip and is breaking wind' someone told me.

While they were working people were describing their paintings enthusiastically.

I can think of lots of things to say from looking at these pictures.

Lots of people could draw pictures also thinking about when they had grown sweet potatoes in Grade 1.

We also heard a story from a 5th Grade teacher called ‘Hanuman wanted the Sun’.

Hanuman is a Hindu God, and there is a story that he went into the sky to try to catch the Sun. The students made models of Hanuman with newspaper.

It was such fun.
