読み方

キリスト教における「懺悔」は「ざんげ」と読み、仏教の場合と違っています。
現在では「懺悔」の一般的な読み方は「ざんげ」になっていますね。
これはキリスト教の影響が強いとされています。
意味は似ていても、宗教によって読み方が違う場合もあるのです。
この他に「礼拝(れいはい)」という言葉も一般化されていますが、元々は「らいはい」と読んだそうです。

懺悔の方法

キリスト教(カトリック)では、信者が狭い部屋に入り、自らの罪を告白することを「告解」と言います。
映画のワンシーンなどで見たことがある人もいるのではないでしょうか？仏教の「懺悔」と意味は似ていますが、キリスト教においては「懺悔」という言葉をあまり使わないようです。
告解を聞いた司祭はいかなる理由があっても、その内容を他言してはいけません。

キリスト教は「赦し(ゆるし)の宗教」であると言われています。
イエス・キリストが十字架にかけられ、やがて息絶え、三日目に復活したという話は有名ですが、それは神に背く人々の罪を赦すためであったと言われています。

「赦し」について

「神がキリストにおいてあなたたちを赦して下さったように、互いに赦し合いなさい」聖書には、このような意味の言葉があります。
人を赦すことはとても難しい行為ですよね。
特に自分が誰かを恨んでいたり、誰かを敵だとみなしている場合には尚更です。
しかし、キリスト教の教えは「相互における赦し」なのです。
他人を赦さない人は、自分も赦されることはないという意味です。

信者でなくても告解できる？

では、キリスト教の信者でなくても告解はできるのでしょうか？正確に言えば、答えはNOです。
正式なものは洗礼を受けた人のみが可能です。
カトリック教会では、信者でない人々の赦しはまず洗礼を受けることからスタートするのです。
ただ、信者でなくてもミサには参加できますし、司祭に相談という意味で話を聞いてもらうことは可能です。

　それでは、もうひとつ、科学の最後の提案をみてみよう。
　さきに述べた遺伝工学の件ででもわかるように、生物学は、いまや、生物現象のなかでももっ
とも重要な領域、すなわち、生物の生殖過程までも変化させはじめている。
　近年、避妊や、精子の長期保存、人工授精の新しい技術、さらにごく最近では種々の不妊症を
回復させる新しい方法などについていろいろな解説が普及し、研究がすすめられっつあること
は、すでにポピュラーな事実である。そのなかでも、もっとも目ざましいのが、遺伝子の配列を
変えて、生物－ことにヒトを改造しようという技術であった。これはさきの項で述べたが、い
ま、この遺伝子変換の法とならんでずすめられっっあるいくつかの研究のなかで、まさに驚天動
地ともいうべき技術の開発がひとつある。
　これがもしも完全に成功したならば、その技術において、ヒトはまさに神になったといっても
よいであろう。ただし、技術の面だけでのことだがＩ。
　それはすでにごく一部のジャーナリズムに注目されはじめ、報道記事にされている。。さし木
から生まれたアインシュタインたち″というような、興味をそそられる見出しで報じられた研究
であるが、
「もっと科学的にいうならば、それは、クローン人ともいうべきものだ」

　と、Ｇ・Ｒ・ティラーは註釈する。
　クローン人とは、一個体の細胞から無性的に増殖・分化して生じた同一人間群のことである。
　今から七、八年ほど前のこと、アメリカのコーネル大学でひとりの科学者が、彼として最初の
研究結果を発表したとき、周囲のみんなから、それは誇大な自己宣伝だと受けとられてしまっ

　その研究は、地球上の植物、動物、人間など、すべての生命の現在の立場を根底からゆるがし
変えてしまう可能性にみちたものだったのである。
　その科学者というのは、コーネル大学の細胞・生理・成長・分化研究所長のＦ・Ｃ・スチュワ
ード教授である。驚異にみちた彼の研究とはこうである。詳細なその研究内容の解説を、ＧＯ Ｒａ　
tｔｒａｙ Ｔａｙ10ｒのコ。冨回ｏ｝ｏ弘～ＩＴｉｍｅ Ｂｏｍｂ９「生物学的時限爆弾」（邦訳、人間に未来はあるか、
みすず書房刊）から引用させていただこう。
　－ニンジンの根、つまり私たちの食べている部分から細胞をとり出し、それを、ゆっくり回
転している培養液のはいった試験管のなかに入れる。その培養液のなかには、普通には使われて
いない成分ココナツミルクがふくまれていた。彼は「私たちはほとんど″動かない″ニンジンの
細胞にドラマチックな変化が起きるなどとは期待していなかった」と述べている。それにもかか
わらず、ニンジンの組織は急に成長しはじめた。
　三週間もたたないうちに、どんどん重さがふえ、もとの約八〇倍になった。彼はこういってい

　「それは、ちょうど、ココナツミルクがクラッチのように働き、成長という、から廻りしていた
細胞のエンジンに、ギヤがはいったようであった……」
　成長をうながす他の物質について、各種の実験が終わってから、研究は第二の段階へはいっ
た。百におよぶニンジンの。外植体”（個体からその一部を分離し、体外で培養して得た個体）が、だ
ったかとつの容器のなかで、培養されたのである。これらの細胞はそれぞれ違った経過をたど
る。非常に大きくなるのもある。順次、分裂して、フィラメント状になるのもある。酵母菌のよ
うに芽を出すものもある。さらにあるものはＩそしてこれがこの話の要占ＪだＩ細胞塊とな
り、根を出しはじめる。固体培地へ移してやると、緑の芽をふき出す。ふたたび土壌へ移して培
養してやると、普通の根と茎と花と種子のあるニンジンになった！
　今から七〇年前に、オーストリアの生物学者Ｇ・ハーバーランドは、このような、栄養生殖
（無性生殖）が、いっか実現することを夢みていた。その夢を、スチュワードは現実のものにした
のである。その後の実験から、ニンジンの初期の胚のひとつからとり出した細胞のほとんどどれ
でも、先に述べたように、無性的に個体にまで成長させることができることが実証された。
　スチュワードが難関を突破して以来、べつの研究者たちはタバコについて同様な実験に成功し
た。これは、ニンジンの場合とはまた少し違った培養の操作手順を苦心して見出さねばならなか
った。それぞれの植物により、その培養条件は違っているもののようである。これと同じこと
が、まもなくほかのどんな植物でも成功すると考えられている。
　ところで１１、
　問題は、これと同じことが動物細胞についてもできるかどうかということである。
　その答は、決して不可能なことではない、というものである。
　もちろん、それは容易なものではない。
　大体、実験室で細胞を培養することは、けっして新しい技術ではない。けれども、たった一個
の細胞をもとに、これを薄層の組織にまで成長させる方法が発見されたのは、つい十数年まえの
ことである。普通は、たった一個の細胞では、栄養培地中におかれても分裂できない。故ウィル
トンーアールが、ある方法を発見してこれに成功した。が、これらの培養細胞は、分裂増殖して
大きくはなっても、器官などの構造体を形成する気配をほとんど示さない。器官の形成は、多
分、隣りにある別の組織から出てくる化学物質によるものだと思われている。ある程度の見当は
ついており、現在、その点の究明に研究がすすめられっつある。正直いって、まだ、細胞培養と
器官培養の間には、橋がかけられていないというのが実状である。
　だから、動物細胞を栄養培養してひとつの完全生物にまですることは、ニンジンヤタバコの場
合のように、スムーズにはゆかない。けれども、生物学者はけっして不可能だとは考えていな
い。時問の問題だと思づている。すでに、スチュワードが突破口を開いたと確信している。現代
の最も鋭い科学者のひとり、故Ｊ・Ｂ・ホールデン教授は、クローン人のできる可能性をもっと
も真剣に考えていたひとりであった。彼の見解では、われわれはすでに植物においてやりとげて
しまっているのだから、培養細胞から有機的な組織体をつくる方法を。いつか必ず発見するだろ
う″し、これによって、。人類発展の可能性を劇的に高めることになろう″と確信し、つぎのよ
うな末末展望をしている。
　彼によると、競技運動家とか舞踊家のクローンは若い人からとってもよいが、大部分のクロー
ンは少なくとも五〇歳以上の人からつくられる七あろうという。クローン人は、社会的に高く評
価されるきわめてすぐれた業績を上げた人だちからっくられる。ただその場合、その成功が単な
る偶然や僥倖にもとづいたものでないように注意されることはもちろんである。
　また、彼はこうもいう。
　『たとえ、その才能の評価に多少疑問はあっても、珍しい才能を持った人からっくったクローーン
人も同じように有益であろう。－たとえば暗闇にいつまでも適応できる人とか、痛みを感じな
い人、東洋のヨガの行者のように、内臓のなかに起こっていることを見破リ、それをコントロー
ルできる人などＩ』と。
　私は思うのだ。
　いつの日か、クローン人製造の原型を募集して、盛大なコンテストなどのひらかれている風景
を。そこでは、われと思わん応募者達がにんげん問に大いにもてはやされそうな妙技や、ちょう
ほうな能力などをご披露して、首尾よく選に入ると、自分の複製－―－生きた複製を長く後世につ
たえるチャンスを持つことができるのだそうだ。コンテストといえば、現在、さかんに行なわれ

でも、希望投票が多ければ、百万人だってどんどんつくれるのである。
　想像してごらんなさい。世界中の女性の三分の一がマリリンーモンローで、三分の一がリズー
テーラーで、あとの三分の一が、やはりこれまた代表的な美人のだれかになってしまうというこ
とだって不可能ではないのだ。もちろん、男性側も同じことが可能である。もっとも、男性の場
合は、ハンサムばかりが能ではないから、才能によって選抜分類されるかも知れないな。
　それからまた、クローン入製造は、人類に貢献したひとを長く顕彰するための手段として採用
されるようになるかも知れない。なぜならば、クローン人というのは一種の「不死人」だから
だ。フランスの生物学者ジャンーロスタンが指摘しているように、ひとりの人間の何百何千とい
う複製をつくることは、ある意味で、その人に不死をあたえることである。というのは、その子
孫がさらにクローン化されて複製され、限りなくこれがつづけられるからである。銅像による表

　遺伝学では、獲得形質は遺伝しないというのが定説である。後天的に得た才能、能力は遺伝し

無い？　え？　ソバをＩ〇杯ひといきに食う？　だめじゃ。そんなものは芸にもならん。それで

ゃ。－つまり、クローン人製造技術が完成するとＩそれを、ティラーは紀元二〇〇〇年少し
以降に可能になるのだというのだが、世の中は、すぐれた能力、なにかきわ立った才能、よき資
質を持ったクローン人ばかりになってしまうのである。皮肉ではないか。クローン人出現をもっ
とも望み、かつそれによってもっとも利益や恩恵をこうむる普通一般の大衆たちは問もなく絶滅
してしまい、残るのはクローン人ばかりであるということになってしまうのだ。クローン人とし
て残し、ふやす価値のある人間のみをクローン化するわけであり、そういうすぐれたクローン人
がどんどん増加していったら、なんの才能もない平凡な人たちは次第に淘汰され、社会の片すみに肩身せまく生きるよりほかなくなり、やがて絶滅してしまうのではないのか？　世界は、スタ
ーばかりになってしまうのである。あるいは、そうなる前に、そのことに気がついた平凡人対ク
ローン人との間に、闘いが起きるかも知れない。もっともそうなっても、勝敗はあきらかであ
る。なにしろ優秀人ぞろいのクローン人たちのことであるから、そうなることくらい、察してい
て、その前にすぐれた軍人、兵士たちのクローン人をいくらでも製造して用意しているから、な
んの能もない平凡人たちなど、ひとたまりもない。なにしろクローン人たちは「不死」なんだか
ら勇敢この上もない。それに、一卵性双生児の場合でも分るように、連帯感が想像以上につよい
から、自分のグループ維持のためにはなんでもする。けっきょく、世界はクローン人たちでみた
される。一芸一能に秀でた美男美女ばかりである。かくして、ついに科学は勝利を得た。ヒトの
改造、世界の改造に成功したのである。宗教的にはブッダやキリストのようなクローン人、科学
的にはアイシュタインや湯川秀樹氏のようなクローン人、芸術的にはＩというように、この世
界は理想的な人間ばかりでみたされ、科学は、遂に、仏教でいう娑婆即浄土、密厳国土を現成
し、この世に天国をきづいたのであった－１、というようには、どうも行かないようである。
　クローン人たちのほうにもいろいろな問題があるのである。
　まず第一に、平凡人たちを次第に淘汰し、消滅に追いやろうとするこの方法は、一種の「去勢Ｌ
であるし、ナチスがやりかけた行き過ぎの優生計画と同じように、人道的見地から反対を受ける
こと必然である。それならば、クローン人と普通人との結婚を奨励したらよいではないかという
かも知れぬが、それではせっかくつくり出したクローン人の甲斐がなくなってしまう。クローン
人と普通人との交配により、いくらか人類のレベルは上がるかも知れないが、ほとんどたいした
ことはない。　　　　
　それに、なによりも、危険なのは、利己的な人間がこれを利用することである。ティラーがい
うように、″二、三人ものヒットラーやスターリンがいたら想像するだけでもごめんこうむりた
い″のである。
　独裁者のいる侵略国家が、軍事目的にかなった科学者、軍人、兵士のクローン人を無制限につ
くって世界に攻撃を開始したらどうなるか？　一国の独裁者がそう決定してその計画をおし進め
たら、他の国においても、これに対抗するためには、同じ方法をとるよりほかないのである。で
なければ絶滅だ。
　さいわいにして、クローン人製造技術が、平和的な方向にだけ使われたとして、それでも困難
な事態の起きる可能性がひとつある。動物を、クローン人製造のような方法で大規模につくり出
してゆくと、正常な進化の過程に大きな障害が起きるのである。
　動物や植物の育種家たちは、よりよい血統をつくるのには、有性生殖と栄養生殖とを組み合わ
せることが必要であることをよく知っている。二つのちがった血統の生物をかけ合わせると、科
学的な根拠はいくぶんアイマイだが、雑種強勢（雑種は一般に純系や自殖系統よりも生育が盛んで、病
害虫などにも強いことをいう）が起きるといわれている。人間が無性的に栄養生殖でっくられるとすると、環境に順応しない人間が淘汰されずにすむことになり、たいへんなことになってしま

シンギュラリティは、アメリカの発明家で未来学者であるレイ・カーツワイルによって提唱された。「技術的特異点」と訳されることもあるが、ロボットや機械の知能が人間の知能を超え、自己進化していく状態に至る時点を指す。

PEZY Computing 代表取締役社長の齊藤元章氏は「次世代の人工知能（AI）と次世代のスーパーコンピュータ（スパコン）が連携することで、エネルギー、衣食住、医療・福祉、安全保障等、全ての社会課題が解決できる」と話す。

齊藤氏は、日本における初のスパコンを開発するベンチャー起業家。同社と、グループ会社のExaScalerが、理化学研究所情報基盤センターと共同で開発したスパコン「Shoubu（菖蒲）」は、最新のスーパーコンピュータランキングの消費電力性能部門「Green500」において、3期連続で世界第1位となった実績を持つ。

「世界最高水準であったスパコン『京』の100倍の性能を持つ次世代スパコンがあれば、探索・解析・モデリング・シミュレーションが大きく進展して問題解決能力が飛躍的に、あるいは非連続的な次元で向上します。この時、単に100倍の速度で処理が出来るだけではなく、100倍を遥かに超えた複雑な問題解決が可能になることが重要です。その結果、シンギュラリティに達すると考えられている。

シンギュラリティはいつ起こるのか

縁起の理法

　菩提樹のもとで、ブッダのさとった理法は、「縁起の法」であり、その内容

は、いまのべた十二因縁と、「四つの聖なる真理」であるといわれる。

　縁起というのは、。縁りて”という語と。起こること”（回ヨ毛簒汝）という語が結合されてできたことばである。なん

らかの条件（縁）があって生起すること、というほどの意味である。それを、中国の経典翻訳者たちは、。縁りて”の縁と、。起こること”の起とをとって、

しごく直截に「縁起」としたわけだ。

　すなわち、これが四諦の法門である。

レイ・カーツワイルが考える技術的特異点

今や、IT技術や科学の進化の速さは倍以上の速度で走り続け、ここ30年ほどの間には、億単位のようなケタ違いのスピードで発達すると予測されています。
中でも一段と進化が期待されている分野が人工知能です。その人工知能が人間の知能を上回ると予想されているのが2045年。「技術的特異点（シンギュラリティ）」と呼ばれる時です。

「宇宙は覚醒する」とは？

冒頭で述べた「宇宙は覚醒する」とは一体どのようなことなのでしょうか？

レイ・カーツワイル氏によると「知性が宇宙空間に広がる物質とエネルギーに飽和する様になり、宇宙に満ち渡る」ということだそうです。

人工知能による知性が物質やエネルギー、宇宙に至るまでをコンピューティングつまりは情報処理を可能にするという考えです。

これにより宇宙全体がひとつの知性体となり、その全てが秩序となり、情報となることが「特異点と宇宙の双方にとっての最終的な宿命なのだ」とレイ・カーツワイル氏は語っています。

シンギュラリティ（特異点）は、それ以前と、それ以後では、非連続的に（人には見える）世界が創造されるんだろうということは、なんとなくわかりました
そして、それをもたらすのが、人間の脳の機能、知性をはるかに超えたエクサスケール（あるいはその1000倍のゼッタスケール）スーパーコンピュータであるのだろうということまでは理解できます

ただ、そこからの世界、あるいは、その手前の前特異点からの世界が、実際どうなるのか？

　一九八〇年代の後半から二十一世紀にかけて、世界はおどろくべき変貌をとげる。それは想像を絶するおどろくべき変貌である。
　ひとはだれでも、昨日のつづきが今日であり、今日のつづきに明日があると思う。それは変ることなく永遠につづくものと思っている。
　いままではその通りであった。しかし、これからはちがう。
　昨日と今日の川に深い断層が口をあけ、今日と明日の間に越えがたい亀裂が走る。
　どうしてそうなるのか？
　まず、すさまじい勢いで食いつぶされてゆく地球資源の問題がある。これが全地球的な規模で、深刻な経済摩擦と産業構造の変動をひき起こす。国家間の対立抗争が高まり、これに人種問題と宗教問題がからんだとき、世界はいっきょにカタストロフィーに突入するだろう。

　端的に言おう。
　二十一世紀は（もしもそれまでいまの世界が存続するならば）極度に発達しておどろくべき性能を持つにいたったエレクトロニクスと、すぐれた霊的感性を持つヒトによって形成される世界である。すぐれた霊的感性の持ちぬしのみが、最高度に発達したエレクトロニクスを駆使して、この世界を維持し発展させてゆくことになるだろう。それ以外はすべて底辺社会に呻吟するしかないことになる。
　高い霊的感性霊的能力といってもよい。それは、人間を超えた高い感性と知性と徳性
をそなえた存在である。機械が極度に発達した世界は、同様に、極度に発達したヒトでなければ、これを制御し統治することができないのだ。ボタンーつ押すことで全世界を爆破し、キイを一つ引くことで億を越える脳を思うように操作することができる時代になるのである。
　きみの準備はできているか？
　もうすでにその時代がはじまっているのである。
　できるかぎり高い霊的世界に身を置き、つねに純粋な霊的バイブレーションにふれるだ。
　きみはその準備をけじめなければならぬ。

タテの因縁とヨコの因縁 Vertical relationship and horizontal relationship

タテの因縁とヨコの因縁
　以上、人間の持つ因縁の大体を述べてきた。あなたも、これらの因縁の中のいくつかを
必ず持っているはずである、
　では、これらの因縁ぱあ、いったい、どこから生じたのであろうか？
　仏陀は、経典の中で、
　「種の差別は業に由る」
　とおっしやっておられる。
　つまり、「業」によって、人それぞれちがう因縁を持って生まれるのである、とおっしや
っているのである。
　では、業は、因縁に対してどのようにはたらくのか？
　阿含宗では、基本的には「タテの因縁」と「ヨコの因縁」となってあらわれると説く。
タテの因縁とはなほか？
先祖から受けついだ系である。
ヨコの囚縁とはなにか？
自分が前生でなした業である。
このタテの因縁とヨコの因縁の交わるところが、自分である。
図示すると、つぎのようになる。

　つまり、祖先の業と、自分の前生の業と、この二つの業によって生じたのが、自分の因
縁である。言葉を替えていえば、自分は、祖先の因縁と自分の前生になした因縁と、この
二つによって、この世に生まれ存在しているわけである。この二つの系続から成り立って
いるのが、自分という存在だ。
　どんな人でも、親－祖先なくしては存在しない。ということは、親、祖先から、さま
ざまなものを受けついでいるということである。顔かたち、性格、体質、その他もろもろ
のものを受けついでいる、これはどんな人も否むことは出来ない。
　有名な儒教の大学者、安岡正篤先生は、その著書『大学』（経書の書名）の講義の中で、
こうのべておられる。
　我々は今日身体を親から受けているが、この小なる生命というものぱ、両親・祖父母と
ずっとつながっている。我々の両親はたった二人、二代で四人であるが、二十代さかのぼ
ると百万人を超え、三十代さかのげると十億を超えるという。そういう無限の生命が玄在
　（かげに存在しているという意味。桐山注）して、その結果、現実に自分の身体が明在し
ている。この身体が明徳である。遺伝学では五千匹前のネズミの先祖の特質が五千匹後の
子孫に出ているという。それを考えると、玄徳（祖先からうけついだかげの徳。桐山注）
というものは恐ろしいものである。この玄徳に豊かに根ざしている明徳ほど立派である。
玄徳というのは、われその徳の中には、いい徳も
あるし、不徳、悪徳もある。そういう玄徳をうけついでこの世に明在しているのが、白分
である。この玄徳ということばを、仏教の「業」「因縁」と置きかえてみればよくわかるで
あろう。
　五千匹前のネズミ、というと、人間でいうならば約十代前の祖先の人、と考えてよいで
あろう。その祖先のネズミの特質（つまり玄徳・因縁）が、五千代のちのネズミの子孫に
出ているというのである。
　まったく、安岡正篤先生のおっしやる通り、「玄徳というものは恐ろしいものである」で
ぱないか。
　　　　

「どうしておれがガンで
　　　　　　　死なねばならないのだ？」
そういうと、「タテの因縁」は理解できるが「ヨコの因縁」はなっとくできない、という
人が出てくるかも知れない。
　尤もである、それはふつう、誰でも前生というものを見ることが出来ないからである。
　霊視力を持っていて、理くつなしに人の前生を見ることの出来る人は別として、それが
出来ない人は、なっとく出来ないであろう。
　実は、私自身も昔、修行時代、その点がなっとく出来なかった。それがなっとく出来た
のは、私自身に「癌の因縁」と「刑獄の因縁」のあることを、因縁透視をして知った時の
ことであった。
　その端緒（はじまり）ぱ、私の妹が、二十六歳の若さで、スイ臓ガンのために亡くなっ
たことにはじまる。最初、ガンとは分からなかった。東大病院の担当教授の診断は、「動脈
瘤でしょう」ということであった。入院前に、母に言われて、私は妹の因縁を透視してみ
た。ガンの因縁があり、「天命殺」の凶運期に入っていた。
　私は、母に答えた。
　「ガンの因縁がありますね。しかし、まだ、二十六歳の若さですから、ガンではないでし
ょう。先生のおっしやる通り、動脈瘤でしょう。この次の天命殺にガンの出るおそれがあ
ります。まだ十年先ですから、それまでに、防ぐ方法を考えましょう」
母をひそめていった。そういうげも笞くして孔ガンの疑いで片方の乳房が変形する

ほどの大手術をしている。妹は、入院して開腹すると、スイ臓ガンですでに他にも転移し

ており、手のほどこしようもなく、退院した。あと、よく持って六ヵ月、ということだっ
た。
　そのことばの通り、妹は、ガン末期の苦しみに苦しみぬいて、五ヵ月ほどで亡くなった。
　亡くなる１ヵ月ほど前、苦しみにあえぎながら、妹は私の手をくだけるほど強くにぎり、
こ’フいった。
　「お兄ちゃん、私は生まれてから二十六年、これという悪いことをしたおぼえぱないのに、
どうしてこんなに苦しまなければいけないの？　どうしてなの？　お兄ちゃんはもの知り
だから、わかるでしよ？　どうしてなの？」
　息もたえだえに、苦しみながら、とぎれとぎれの言葉で問いかけられ、私ぱなにもいえ
なかった。答えるすべもなかった。つよく手をにぎり返してやりながら、
　「大丈夫だよ、もうじき治る」

　そういうよりはかなかった。あまりの苦しみように、いっそ首をしめて息をとめてやり
たい思いであった。森鴎外の『高瀬舟』が脳中を往き来していた。それから間もなく昏睡
状態に陥り、一ヵ月後、妹は亡くなった。その葬儀を終えたのち、母のことばが頭にひっ
かかっていた私は、早速、自分の因縁をくわしく透視してみた。私はがくぜんとした。
　なんと！　私自身に、妹と全く同じ星が出ているのである。四十八歳から四十九歳の天
命殺に、ガンになるという因縁が透視されたのである。
　どうして、私がガンにならなければならないんだ１・
　私は心の中で叫んだ。苦しみにあえぎながら私に問いかけた妹のことばが、耳の中によ
みがえった。
　「生まれてから二十六年、これといって悪いことをしたおぼえがないのに、どうしてこん
なに苦しまなければならないの？　お兄ちゃん、教えて……」
　この妹のことばは、そのまま私のものになったのである。
　「どうしておれが、ガンにならなければならないんだ？」
　母のことばによると、桐山家はガンの血統であるという。とすると、私がガッになるの
は、私の祖先のせいということになる。母が私にガンの遺伝をつたえ、その母は祖父につ
たえられ、またその祖父は、曾祖父によってガンにならされたということになる。
　先祖のおかげで、おれぱガンになるのだ、ということになるわけだ。
　とすると、私にとって、祖先ほど忌まわしい存在はないということになる。愛情ふかい
無二の存在である母さえも、この母からガンを伝えられたために、おれは四十八、九歳の
若さでガンで死ななければならないのだと考えると、母への愛情も、しらけてくるような
気がする。
　私は悩んだ。自分の親や祖先を敬愛するのは、生物としての自然の人情である。しかる
に、子孫が親や祖先を恨まなければならないというのは、自然の摂理にもとることである。
きわめて不自然といわなければならない、どこか間違っているのじやないか？　そう思っ
た。
　のちに仏陀シャカの「成仏法」を学んで霊視能力を持ってからは、人の前生も透視で
きるようになった私だが、その頃はまだそういう能力を持っておらず、非常に悩んだので
めった。
　この悩みを解決するのは仏教である。そう思った私は、片っぱしから仏教経典を読破し
た。その答は、やはり経典の中にあった。
　人間には前生がある、という仏陀の教えである。
　人間の生命は、この世の中の誕生にぱじまるものではなく、前生からのひきつづきであ
るという教えである。これで、私の目は開いた。
　私は、前生において、次の生にぱガンで痘れるという業をつくり、ガンになる因縁を持
って生まれてきたのである。だから、私は現生において桐山家に生まれずに他の家、たと
えば、中村家なり、田中家なりに生まれても、その家には必ずガンの因縁があって、（つま
りガンを遺伝する祖先がいて）私は必ずガンで死ぬことになる、のである。
　ガンになる「因」は私自身にあり、桐山家は、ガンになる「縁」になるものであったと
いうことがわかったのである。私が桐山家に生まれたのは、ガンのほかにいくつか、桐山
家に『縁』になるものがあったのであろう。
　これで、私ぱなっとくしたのであった。
　そしてこのことは、のちに私が前生を透視する能力を待ったとき、その真実であること
を確認したのである。
　私がこれを何年にもわたって追求したのは、自分の持つ悪い因縁を断ち切るためには、
どうして因縁が生じるのか、因縁の成り立ちをはっきり把握しなければ、因縁の切りよう
がないからである。敵の本体を知らなければ、幟いようがないからだ。私は、こうして、
因縁の本体をつかんだ。すなわち、因縁というものは、タテの因縁とヨコの因縁から成り
立っている。したがって、因縁を切るためには、タテの因縁を切る方法と、ヨコの因縁を
切る方法と、この二つの方法を持だなければならない、ということである。
　この二つの方法を求めて、私は必死に仏典と取り組み、修行にはげんだ。その結果、私
は、この二つの方法を手に入れた。それはまた、あとの章でのべよう。
霊障の因縁
先にも述べたが、霊障を伴う因縁がいくつかある。
「横変死の因縁」
「家運衰退の因縁」
「肉親血縁相剋の因縁」
「色情の因縁」
など、ほとんど、霊障のホトヶが霊視される。
　　　　　　　　　
　それら霊障のホトヶは、いずれも悪い怨恨の念や、非常な苦悶から生じたもので、三代
から五代くらい前の先祖にかかわりを持つホトヶであることが多い。
　ときには、病気で苦しみ抜いたホトヶが霊障を発していることもある。

、そのホトヶを解脱成仏させさえすれば、その因縁が切れてしまうと
いうことではない。因縁は因縁切りの行をして切らねばならないのであるが、霊障のホト
ヶを消滅させることが先決問題であって、霊障のホトヶが存在しつきまとう限り、どんな
因縁切りの法も行も、法験をあらわすことができない。というよりも、霊障のホトヶの解
身体、つまり、
の一部なのだといった方がよいであろう。
霊障のホトヶなど無い、といとをいう宗教家が時どき出てくる。
　霊視能力がないから、霊的現象を見ることができない。自分に見えないから、そんなも
のはないと思ってしまうだろう。単純素朴な脳の持ち主である。
　霊視能力のない宗教家ぱ、宗教家と名乗る資格がないのではなかろうか。世界中、どん
な宗教家でも、宗教家と名のつくほどの人で、霊視能力のない人はない。
　最近、ある人が、阿含経のどこにも不成仏霊や霊障のことなど書いたところがない、阿
含宗が不成仏霊や霊障のホトヶの供養をするのはインチキだなどといっている、という。
まことに笑うにたえぬぱなしで、阿合経のどこを見ているのか、無知の者のいうことで、
とりあげるほどのものでぱないが、迷わせられる者がでないとも限らぬので、私の著書（『間
脳思考』平河出版社刊）から、次に転載しておく。

しかし、現実には、われわれはその1〇〇分の二、三しか使っていないのである。
私は、私自身にたいしてまことに残念でならない。
それは、ちょうど、莫大な埋蔵量を持つ金鉱か、無尽蔵なダイヤモンド鉱を目の前にして、こ
れを掘り出すことのできない口惜しさである。
あなたもそう感じないか？
われわれは、いまや、頭脳に関する迷信を即刻あらためなければならぬ。
頭がいいとか、わるいとかいうのは間違いなのだ。
問題は、人がどれだけのニューロンを使っているか、または使っていないかということなので

Ｈが天才であるのは、ひとよりＩ、ニパーセントよけいにニューロンを動かしているというだ
けのことだ。Ｔの知能が低いのは、ひとよりＩ、ニパーセントよけいにニューロンが眠っている

もしも君が天才であるなら傲るのはやめたまえ。たかが人よりわずかＩ、ニパーセントのニュ
ーロンかよけいにはたらいているというだけに過ぎない。たかがそれだけのことではないか。
もしも君が頭がわるく、知能が低いと歎くなら、悲観ナるのはやめたまえ。人よりわずかに
一、ニパーセント、ニューロンの動きが少ないというだけのことだ。ただそれだけのことに過ぎ
ない。奮発して、五、六八Ｉセントもよけいにニューロンを動かしたらいいではないか。
なに？・
そんなことは不可能だって？
バカをいいたまえ、ここにちゃんとその方法がある。
知能開発、ニューロン覚醒、大脳皮質改造の技術がここにある。
このシステムで訓練すれば、眠れる君のニューロンはたちまち目ざめ、君の知能は三倍にな
る。
それは、ヒトを全くべっな生物に変えてしまう超技術だ。
その超技術がここにある。
③－ヒトを改造する超技術

もしも。
ヒトの知能が倍増し、人類の知的水準が現在の二倍ないし三倍になったら、世界はどのように
変わるであろうか？　おそらく、人類は、いまかかえているあらゆる問題を、すべて解決してし
まうであろう。
いやＩ、それよりも、全く新しい構造の社会が出現するのではないか？
人類がいまかかえでいる問題を見てみよう。
Ｉ殺し合い、奪い合い、憎み合い、傷つけ合いＩそして地球上に急速にひろがりつつある
有害物質－。それらはどこに原因があるのであろうか？　わかりきったことである。
それは、ヒトが愚かなためである。
人類学者リンネは、人間を分類して「知恵あるヒト」と学名をつけた。
生洲学者シャルルーリシエは、愚かなヒト、ホモースツルッスと名をつけた。ノーベル賞受賞
者のリシエは、その著、「人間－この愚かなるもの」の序文で、人類のかずかずの愚行をつぎ
っぎとあげ、実にあきれかえったおろかな動物であるとして、超愚人類と呼びたいところだ
が、まあ、最上級の形容詞はがまんして、愚人類ぐらいでかんべんしておこうと書いている。
たしかに、ヒトには、この二つの面かおる。賢い知恵ある面と、愚かで弱い面と、二つの面が
ひとつにまざり合っている矛盾した生物が、まさにヒトであるということなのだが、いま、われ
われの周囲をながめてみると、ホモーサピエンスは全く影をひそめ、ホモースツルチッシムスが
妖怪のごとく横行している。
殺し合い、奪い合い、憎み合い、傷つけ合い、
それは次第にエスカレートしてゆく。科学と技術はヒトの力を無限に拡大したが、同時に、ヒ
トの殺戮と搾取と憎悪と闘争をも無限に増大させた。このままでは、問もなく、ホモーサピエン
スは絶滅ナる。
いま、人類にもっとも必要なものはなにか？
それは高度の知能である。
この地上に展開する恐るべき大愚行は、なによりもまず人類の知能が低いところに原因する。
いま、人類に必要なものは、科学でもなければ技術でもない。革命でもなければイデオロギー
でもない。人種闘争でもなければ階級闘争でもない。そんなものはなんの役にも立たぬ。
何十回、革命を起こしても、何百回、闘争をくりかえしても、人類の知能がいまの水準にある
かぎり、それはむなしい儀式のくりかえしに過ぎぬ。
歴史をみてみよう。機械と技術、科学と文明と称するものがいくら進歩発達しても、おろかな
人間たちの行動パターンは少しも変わっていない。つねに、憎み合い、殺し合い、奪い合う、こ
のパターンのくりかえしではないか。どこに変化が見られるか。
若ものよ。エネルギーのむだな燃焼をやめたまえ。革命を思うなら、全人類の知能革命に前進

せよ。
ネアンデルタールの昔から、ヒトの知能は一歩も前進していない。なによりもまず人類の知能
を高めねばならぬ。
ホモースツルチッシムスを絶滅せよ。そうせぬかぎりわれわれにもはや未来はない。それはす
でに秒読みの段階に入っている。
このとき、ここに、ヒトを改造し、社会機構を一変させる技術がある。この技術は、ふるき社
会体系をすべて解体し、そこから生まれるあたらしい文明は、次元をひとつ超えるだろう。この
技術によってのみ、世界はよみがえり、この革命だけが全人類を破滅から救う。
若ものよ。
君たちはなぜこれに視線を向けぬのだ。
なぜ、君たちは、この、地上いまだかつて比類なき壮大にしてドラマチックな革命に情熱をた
ぎらせぬのだ。

④－未来社会かあるとすれば

教育？・
それは無力である。
それは知能を高めるものではなく、ただ、知識をひろげるだけのものに過ぎない。
教育は、ただ、その人の本来持っているところの知識をひろげるだけで、知能そのものを高め
ぼしない。知能を高める技術とは、ものを教え、ものをおぼえさせることではなく、おぼえる能
力そのものを高めるシステムでなければならない。馬鹿はいくら教育したって馬鹿である。馬鹿
に教育はまったく無力だ。馬鹿を利口にするためには特別の技術がなければならぬ。
宗教？
それは、知能ひくきものたちの愚行をなんとか良心にうったえて思いとどめさせようとするブ
レーキに過ぎず、知能を高めるためのなんの力も技術もない。念仏をとなえ、題目を高唱し、経
典教学をそらんじ、神のみ名を呼んでも、心の安らぎ、なぐさめ、信念というたぐいのものは得
られても、知能そのものが高くなるということはない。
最高度に進化発達した知能を持つ未来社会に、宗教という特別な分野はなくなるだろう。高度の知能は高度に発達した倫理観、道徳意識をともなうから、現在の宗教や、宗教家あたりが説い
ている「教え」など、まったく低俗な、次元の低い幼稚なものとしてかえりみられず、宗教意識
はごくあたりまえの常識になってしまって、ことさらにカミやホトケを念ずることなどなくなる
だろう。ヒトが、カミ、ホトケとびとしくなるのである。
そういう未来社会が、すぐ足もとに来ていることに君は気づくべきだ。
今までとはまったく構造の変わった社会体系があらわれようとしていることを、君は知らねば

ならぬ。

君はそれを疑うのか？
ではいおう。

もしも。
そういう高度の知能が出現しないかぎり、世界は間もなく終わるだろう。ホモーサピエッスが
今の知能水準であるかぎり、もはや、ヒトに未来はない。ホモーサピエッスの文明はすでに限界
に達した。
だからＩＩ。
未来社会があるとすれば、どうしてもそれは、高度なまったく新しい社会でなければならぬの

だ。

⑤－超・ヒトＦ－脳発速度係数三・九
もう間もなくやってくる未来社会で、人類は二つの種属にわかれるだろう。

そういう分類とはまったく異質の区分が、ごく近い将来、われわれの世界にあらわれようとし
ている。そういう動きが、ナでに現在おこりつつある。
それは、二つのヒト属である。
あたらしい人類とふるい人類－。
ひとつは普通の現代人、ホモーサピエンスＨｏｍｏ　ｓａｐｉｅｎｓである。これがふるい人類だ。
もうひとつは、特殊な能力を身につけた未来人、ホモーエクセレンスＨｏｍｏ　ｅχｃｅｌｌｅｎｓ　であ る。つまりあたらしい人類だ。

シンギュラリティとは 人類は今、大きなターニングポイントにさしかかっている

シンギュラリティとは

人類は今、大きなターニングポイントにさしかかっている。遅くとも2045年、早ければ2029年に人類はシンギュラリティに突入する。人類から超人類への進化である。

シンギュラリティとは何か。正確にはテクノロジカル・シンギュラリティと呼び、日本語では技術的特異点と訳されている。シンギュラリティとは数学では変数の値が無限大になるところであり、一般相対性理論では時空の曲率が無限大になるところである。一般相対性理論でシンギュラリティの向こう側は理論的に予言できないので、その向こうは予測不能という意味で、米国の数学者バーナー・ビンジが90年代に命名した。それ以降、米国の未来学者レイ・カーツワイルが盛んにシンギュラリティを喧伝している。

カーツワイルによれば2045年には10万円程度のコンピュータが全人類の知的計算能力に匹敵する能力を持つという。同時に人工知能、生物学、ロボット技術が進んで、人間の心をコンピュータにマインド・アップロードすることができるようになり、したがって人間の肉体は死んでも精神は不死になるという。これが彼の考えるシンギュラリティである。

英国の数学者I. J. グッドは、いずれ人工知能が自分のプログラムを書き換えられることができる時点が来ると予言している。その人工知能は自分自身を改良することにより、急速に賢くなっていく。そのような人工知能プログラムが人類最後の発明で、以後は人工知能自体が科学技術を進めていく。そのような現象をグッドは知能爆発と名付けた。これもシンギュラリティのひとつの定義である。

私はシンギュラリティを人間よりはるかに知能の高い存在、超知能ができるときと定義したい。超知能ができると科学技術が爆発的に発展することにより、人類社会は大きく変わるだろう。超知能とは機械知能そのものかもしれないし、機械知能で知能増強された人間かもしれない。それを超人類とよぼう。私は後者であってほしいと考えている。

2029年はプレ・シンギュラリティ!?

カーツワイルは2029年には、人工知能がチューリンテストをパスして、人間と区別がつかなくなるという。人間のような人工知能を汎用人工知能と呼ぶことにすれば、汎用人工知能ができる時点をプレ・シンギュラリティと私は定義する。人間の大脳の計算能力は、ある評価では、京コンピュータと同等、つまり10ペタフロップスであるという。そうだとすれば、京コンピュータと同等のコンピュータが10万円で買える時点をプレ・シンギュラリティと定義しても良いだろう。カーツワイルはそれも2029年のことだとしている。

ちなみに士郎正宗のマンガ「攻殻機動隊」では、神戸にある公安9課の実行部隊である攻殻機動隊が創設されるのが2029年なのである。偶然であろうが、2029年という年は結構意味深い。

人類史の三つの転換点

近未来の人類史を考える上で、今までに大きな転換点が三つあったことを知ることが重要である。イスラエルの歴史家ユヴァル・ノア・ハラリは、約7万年前におきた認知革命、約一万年前に起きた農業革命、約250年前に起きた科学・産業革命がそれであるとしている。

ハラリによれば認知革命によりホモ・サピエンスは神、貨幣、国家などの、本来は実態が存在しない仮想的存在、虚構に価値を認め合うことにより、人々が協力することが可能になり、地球を支配するまでに至ったという。

つぎに農業革命により貯蔵可能な穀物を生産できるようになった。余剰農産物は富でありそれを多く持つものが金持ちになった。富を蓄積したものは権力をにぎり、支配層になり官僚、軍隊を養うようになった。こうして都市と国家が生まれた。

科学・産業革命に成功したヨーロッパ、米国、それにかろうじて乗った日本は先進国となり、乗り損ねたそれ以外の国、特にかつての超大国、超先進国の中国とインドは発展途上国に転落した。そのため中国は日本ごとき小国に蹂躙されるという悲哀を味わった。この現象を第一の大分岐と呼ぶ。

ちなみにノーベル経済学賞を受賞したスティグリッツ教授はこういったという。「世界には先進国と発展途上国と日本とアルゼンチンしかない」その意味は、日本は唯一、発展途上国から先進国に這い上がり、アルゼンチンは唯一、先進国から発展途上国に転落したということだ。しかし日本の指導層と国民の認識がこのままでは、日本はほぼ確実に21世紀のアルゼンチンになるであろう。そのことを以下で述べる。

現在の中国の指導層はこれを熟知して、百年国恥をそそぐために、スーパー・コンピュータ、人工知能、宇宙技術、戦闘機、空母、天文学など、ほとんどあらゆる先端技術に膨大な投資をしている。日本は指導層も国民もその認識がほとんどなく、完全に周回遅れになっている。

第四の転換点、第二の大分岐

これから2045年にかけて起きるシンギュラリティ革命は、それに乗ることに成功する21世紀の先進国と、乗り損ねる発展途上国に分かれるであろう。これを駒沢大学の井上智洋氏は第二の大分岐と名付けた。日本はどちらに乗るのか、日本の将来を決める大問題である。

以下では井上氏の分析を紹介する。農業革命以降の経済システムを農業中心経済と呼ぶ。そこでは土地と労働が基本要素である。基本的な生産物は食料である。農業経済においては、一人当たりの所得は増えない。というのは、食糧生産が増えると人口が増大してしまうからである。これをマルサスの罠と呼ぶ。

産業革命以降の工業化経済では、土地、労働に代わって資本、労働が経済の基本要素となる。この場合、生産物には機械などの生産材が含まれ、それが生産に加わるという正のフィードバックが生じ、一人当たり所得は増大を始める。その増加率は年率ほぼ2%程度である。

シンギュラリティ革命後の経済、これを完全機械化経済と井上氏は呼ぶが、そこではもはや労働は必要ない。必要なのは資本と優秀な頭脳である。私は資本主義のこの新しい姿を頭脳資本主義とよぶ。シンギュラリティにともなう科学技術の爆発的発展により、生産性が急増する。そのため経済成長率自身が増加を始める。

先に述べたユヴァル・ノア・ハラリは、以下のように分析する。農業経済において最も重要な資産は土地である。人類は、その土地の大部分を所有する王・貴族階級と、何も持たない平民に分岐した。工業経済時代で最も重要な資産は生産機械である。人類は、その機械のほとんどを所有する資本家と、何も持たないプロレタリアートに分岐した。今後最も重要になる資産はデータである。そして人類はデータのほとんどを所有するエリートとそうでない人々に分岐するであろう。後者をユヴァル・ノア・ハラリは不要階級とよんだ。

日本の過去、現在、未来

人口一人当たりの豊かさの指標を一人当たりのモノとサービスと定義する。モノとサービスを生産するのは、現在は労働者である。労働者の人口を生産年齢人口と呼び15歳から64歳の人口と定義されている。モノとサービスの生産量は生産年齢人口と生産性の積で決まる。だから生産性が世間並みであるとすると、生産年齢人口の全人口に対する割合、つまり生産年齢人口割合が大きいと豊かになり、小さいと貧乏になる。人口の絶対値が重要なのではない。その証拠にシンガポール、香港、スイス、デンマークなど人口が少ないのに豊かな国がある。

各国の生産年齢人口割合を1950-2050年の100年間に渡って図示してみると興味深いことが分かる。日本は1960年に生産年齢人口割合で世界のトップに立ち、1990年に韓国に抜かれるまで一位を保った。2000年には中国にも抜かれた。

この期間、1960-1970年に日本は高度経済成長をとげ、1980-1990年は「ジャパン・アズ・ナンバーワン」とまで言われたように、それこそ神武以来の繁栄を謳歌した。当時の日本人は私も含めて、21世紀は日本の世紀だとおだてられて浮かれていた。しかし1990年代に入り、バブルがはじけて、それ以降はずっと停滞を続けている。一方韓国は経済発展を遂げて、電気産業で日本を凌駕した。また中国は2010年にはGDPで日本を抜き去り、現在では日本の3倍近くになっている。日本は2011年の東日本大震災と福島原発の事故を契機として、それ以降はつるべ落としの衰退を続けている。2025年頃には生産年齢人口割合はアフリカにも抜かれる。この傾向から考えると、日本はこのままズルズルと衰退を続けて経済的大破局に見舞われる可能性がある。

生産年齢人口割合が高いことを人口ボーナスと呼び、その逆を人口オーナスと呼ぶ。日本が1980年代に栄えたのは、日本人の勤勉さなどよりは人口ボーナスのためであろう。

しかし上の議論には大きな仮定がある。生産性が変化しないか、世界標準と変わらないかという仮定である。そこで日本の衰退を跳ね返すには、その前提をひっくり返す必要がある。それを私は「ちゃぶ台返し」とよぶ。つまり労働者が仕事をする必要のない純粋機械化経済になれば良いのだ。肉体労働のロボット化、知的労働の人工知能による代替、超知能による科学技術の爆発的発展などで衰退を跳ね飛ばせるのだ。シンギュラリティに達した後は、人口はむしろ少ない方が有利になる。生産物を分配する分母が減るからである。その意味で、日本の衰退をちゃぶ台返しするためには、シンギュラリティが必要なのである。

中国一強時代の到来

2016年6月に世界のスーパー・コンピュータ(スパコン)関係者に衝撃が走った。中国がトップ500で「神威太湖之光」というとてつもないスパコンを発表したからである。その計算速度は93ペタフロップスである。ちなみに「二番じゃダメなんですか?」で有名になった日本の京コンピュータは10ペタ(1京)フロップスである。

トップ500とは、世界のスパコンの絶対性能のランキングである。2位も中国の天河2号で34ペタ、3、4位が米国で18ペタ、17ペタであった。天河2号はここしばらく、一位をキープしていた。中国がとてつもないマシンを発表しそうだというウワサが流れて、米国はそれを妨害するためにインテルチップを輸出禁止にしたのだが、中国は全てを国産でまかなったのだ。中国の自主技術開発の勝利である。スパコンの台数においても中国は米国を抜いた。中国の指導層の執念を見る気がする。

2016年の秋のランキングでは、米国は3-5位を占めた。日本は14ペタで6位に入り、京コンピュータは7位に後退した。台数では中国171機、米国171機、ドイツ31機、日本27機となっている。2017年秋のランキングでは中国の1,2位は動かず、3位にはスイスが入った（米国製スパコン）。4位にはなんと僅差で日本の暁光（PEZY社製）が入ったのだ。暁光はその後の改良で、現状では世界3位の性能を持ったのだが、残念な事に現在は機械そのものが撤去されてしまった。

トップ500はスパコンの絶対性能のランキングであるが、それとは別にグリーン500というランキングがある。これはトップ500の中で、1ワットあたりの性能を競うものである。このランキングでは2017年の秋の段階では1, 2, 3, 5位を日本のベンチャー企業PEZY社製のスパコンが独占した。今後スパコンの開発競争は、省エネ度が重要なファクターになる。その意味では日本勢は非常に健闘した。

なぜ中国や米国がスパコン競争でしのぎを削るのか？それはスパコンがハイテクの象徴であり、国力の象徴であるからだ。米中の指導層はそのことを熟知している。いっぽう日本の指導層もメディアも国民もその意識がほとんどない。最近のPEZY社をめぐる不幸な事件がこれを象徴している。日本の指導層とメディアは日本のスパコン技術を、知ってかしらずか自らの手で破壊した。これでは日本が衰退するのも仕方ないであろう。

特化型人工知能と汎用人工知能

現在の人工知能は、たしかに知能の一面は実現したのだが、まだまだ人間には及ばない面も多い。現在の人工知能は特化型人工知能とよばれ、特定の仕事しかできない。特化型人工知能は狭い人工知能とも呼ばれている。

人工知能の歴史においてこれまで画期的な事件が3つあった。1) IBMのディープ・ブルーというスーパー・コンピュータが、1997年にチェスの世界チャンピオンのガリー・カスパロフを破った。2) 2011年にIBMのスーパー・コンピュータ、ワトソンがクイズ番組「ジェパディ!」で人間のチャンピオンに勝った。3) 2016年にグーグル・ディープ・マインド社のアルファGoが囲碁で韓国のイ・セドル九段に勝った。

これらは人工知能の歴史上特筆すべき事件ではあるが、全て特化型人工知能である。つまりこれらの人工知能はチェス、クイズ、囲碁という特定目的で人間に勝ったに過ぎない。たとえばディープ・ブルーもアルファGoも、ロボットの手を動かして駒を動かすという、子供でもできることができない。つまり一つのことしかできないのである。

特化型人工知能に対して汎用人工知能という概念がある。これは人間のように常識を持ち、いちおうなんでもできる人工知能のことである。のちに述べるように汎用人工知能の開発こそがシンギュラリティの鍵となる。

超知能の出現

人間ひとり分の知能に相当する汎用人工知能ができたとしても、それだけで人類の歴史を根底的に変えるといったものではない。高い金を出して汎用人工知能を導入しなくても、人を雇えば済む話だ。

人類の特権的地位を根底的にゆるがすのは超知能の出現である。超知能とは何か？人間の知能をはるかに凌駕する存在である。はるかにとは、例えば人間の脳より数億倍も速く考えることができるとか、はるかに深く考えることができるということだ。人工知能は所詮コンピュータ上で走るソフトだから、その速さや能力はコンピュータの能力で決まる。人間の能力は、それを数億倍どころか倍増することすら難しい。しかしコンピュータの能力を倍増することは簡単である。倍増どころか数億倍にするのも原理的な問題はない。つまり超知能は汎用人工知能が一度できてしまうと、あとは資金と時間だけの問題なのだ。その気になりさえすれば、作ることができる。汎用人工知能を作ることが鍵なのである。それさえできれば、あとはスケールアップすればことは簡単だ。

私は超知能を二つに分類する。機械超知能と超人間である。機械超知能とは人工知能を搭載したコンピュータそのものである。世間で普通言われて、恐れられているものは機械超知能である。いっぽう超人間とは機械超知能で知能増強された人間である。つまり人間と機械超知能を脳・コンピュータインターフェイスで繋いだ一種のサイボーグである。超人間はポストヒューマンとも呼ばれている。私の夢は超知能を作ることである。

まず機械超知能について考える。これは映画「ターミネーター」に出てくるスカイネットが典型例である。スカイネットは殺人ロボット群を指揮して、人類を滅ぼそうと計画した。「マトリックス」では、機械超知能が人間を生きたまま容器に入れて、いわば飼い殺しにしながら、人間にシミュレーション現実の夢を見せている。

私はこの手の、超知能が意識、特に人間に対する悪意を持ち、人間と敵対するというシナリオをハリウッド的世界観と呼んでいる。このようになる可能性は0ではないが、超人間に比べて技術的な可能性は低い。超人間を作れば、その価値観は人間のままである。また人々を超知能と接続すれば、個々人が超人間になれるだけでなく、繋いだ人々の心がまさに一つになる。世界中の人々の脳を超知能で繋いだものをグローバル・ブレインと呼ぶが、それを作ることができるのだ。

超知能ができれば、科学技術が飛躍的に発展することは簡単に想像できるだろう。人工知能駆動科学と呼ぶ新しい分野が台頭して、科学実験、調査、研究などを人間と人工知能とが共同して推進する。ちなみに従来の科学は、実験・観測、理論、シミュレーション科学、データ駆動科学と進化してきた。次に来るのが人工知能駆動科学なのである。人間の研究者なら単独で年に2編も論文を書くのがせいぜいだ。大学教授で年に数十編も論文を書くのは学生を使う共同研究だからだ。ところが超知能なら年に一万編の論文を書くこともできるだろう。こんな論文を誰が読むのか? 超知能が読むのだ。人間は超知能を監督しておれば良い。ともかく超知能が作られると、原理的に解きうる問題は全て解かれて、物理的に可能な技術は全て実現できるだろう。そのことが科学・技術だけでなく経済的、政治的、軍事的に持つ意味は巨大であろう。

汎用人工知能・超知能をめぐる世界的大競争

このように超知能を作ることは、人類史に大きな影響を及ぼす。その意義を政治的、経済的、軍事的、文化的にみれば恐るべきものであることが理解できるであろう。ある国とか企業がそれを独占的に開発すれば、世界覇権が握れる。核開発、ロケット開発以上である。

世界では汎用人工知能開発競争が激しく展開されている。その最先端を行くのは米国のグーグル本体とグーグルの子会社である英国のディープ・マインド社である。ディープ・マインド社は天才デミス・ハスビスが2010年に作った会社だ。グーグルはハサビスの天才性を見込んで500-600億円で買収した。つまり彼の頭脳の値段がそれだけあるということだ。人工知能研究ではディープ・マインド社が一頭地を抜く状態にある。アルファGoが2016年に韓国の囲碁のチャンピオンを4対1で破ったことは記憶に新しいが、2017年にはアルファGoの改良版が中国のチャンピオンにも全勝した。ところがさらに改良版のアルファGoゼロは、なんとアルファGoに対して100対0で圧勝したのだ。さらに改良版のアルファ・ゼロにいたっては囲碁だけでなく、将棋でもチェスでも人類を圧倒する他の人工知能を圧倒した。もはやこの種のボードゲームでは、三千年の囲碁の歴史も形無しなのである。特化型といえ、人工知能はある特定分野で人類を完全に追い抜いた。今後、人類と人工知能の知能競争において、人類は一歩一歩と負けて行くであろう。

実際アルファロ・ゼロの進化速度はすごい。全く何も知らないゼロの状態から始めて、将棋では2時間、チェスで4時間、囲碁では8時間で、それまでの最強の人工知能を凌駕したのだ。これらの人工知能はすでに人類を圧倒していたので、結局アルファ・ゼロは将棋、チェス、囲碁で人類を短時間で圧倒した。囲碁の三千年の歴史をたった8時間で走り抜けたのだ。これを超知能といわず何と呼べようか？コンピュータのクロックサイクルは1GHz程度である。人間では100Hz程度とすると、コンピュータは人間の千万倍速く考えられる。三千年を千万分の1にすると約3時間だ。いい数字だ。

アルファ・ゼロがすごいのは囲碁だけでなく将棋、チェスに対応したこと、つまり汎用性を備え始めたことである。アルファ・ゼロの基本は強化学習である。それに深層学習を加味して、かつモンテカルロ木探索というアルゴリズムを加えて、今回の偉業を達成した。ディープ・マインド社の指導者のデミス・ハッサビスは、アルファ・ゼロは汎用人工知能の第一歩と考えている。実際、強化学習は目的追求型のタスクなら基本的になんでもこなせるのだ。

ディープ・マインド社は世界60カ国から700名近い天才、秀才を集めて集中的に人工知能研究を行なっている。その中で博士は400名もいる。その研究発表の量、質、速さは驚くべきものである。日日のニュースに接している私としては、恐ろしいと言わざるを得ない。デミス・ハッサビスはディープ・マインド社のミッションを、1)知能を解明すること、2)それを用いて、あらゆる問題を解決することと定義している。彼はこれを「人工知能のアポロ計画」と呼んでいる。ディープ・マインド社に次ぐのはグーグル・ブレインとよばれる研究集団である。さらにフェイスブック、マイクロソフト、アマゾンがこれにつぐ。ちなみにアップルは遅れている。

ダークホースとしてはパーム・パイロットを作った鬼才ジェフ・ホーキンスが私財を投じて作ったハイテク企業ニューメンタがある。さらにホーキンスと袂を分かった天才ディリープ・ジョージの作ったヴァイカリウスは百億円近い投資を集め50-200名ほどが働いている。ネットで人間と人工知能を区別する仕組みとして知られているキャプチャを彼らの人工知能は破った。つまり複雑な文字認識で人工知能は人間に並んだのである。米国にはそのほか多くのベンチャー企業が汎用人工知能開発に参入している。米国以外ではチェコやスイスの会社も汎用人工知能開発を行っている。フェイスブックの人工知能研究所はパリにある。

ここで注意すべき事は、上記の会社はシンギュラリティという言葉は使っていない。IBMに至っては人工知能という言葉すら避けている。認知コンピューティングとよんでいる。その理由は欧米に多い、キリスト教的世界観からくる人工知能に対する拒否感をおもんぱかってのことであろうと私は推測する。現在はグーグルに所属するカーツワイルだけが例外である。

中国の躍進と日本の悲惨な現状

人工知能研究では米英それにカナダが一頭地を抜いている。それに次ぐのはどこか？なんと言っても中国である。中国のグーグルともいえる百度はシリコンバレイに数千億を投資して研究所を作った。アリババ、テンセントなどのハイテク企業は人工知能専門家を多数雇い、データセンターに投資している。

中国政府は人工知能研究の重大性に気づき、数兆円の投資を決めた。中国政府が最近発表した計画では人工知能研究で3年以内に欧米に追いつき、2025年には大きな飛躍を遂げ、2030年までには中国の人工知能が世界一になるとしている。日本の指導層とメディアには欠けた、世界一になるという断固とした気概である。二番じゃダメなんですかというような気概にかけた指導者がいる国とは違う。

実際、中国の習近平主席の書棚に汎用人工知能の作り方を論じた「マスターアルゴリズム」という本があることを、その本の著者が語っている。またロシアのプーチン大統領も「人工知能分野で主導権を握るものが世界の支配者になる」と語ったという。

日本ではスパコンのハードに関しては先に述べたPEZY社を創始した齊藤元章氏が米中を相手に健闘した。その自主技術は1)PEZYチップという世界にないマルチコア・チップ、2)液浸冷却技術、3)3次元積層磁界結合メモリ、と世界に誇るものであった。2に関しては中国がすでに技術獲得に触手を伸ばしている。3ができれば、コンピュータの速度は画期的に上がるだろう。ともかくこれらは日本が世界に誇る自主技術なのだ。

しかしご存知のように地検特捜部が齊藤氏を逮捕することで、日本の支配層とそれに追従するメディア、知識人、さらにそれらに影響された国民は、日本が世界に誇るべき天才と自主技術を自分の手で葬り去ったのである。このままいけば、2018年には日本がスパコンでトップ500の一位になるはずであった。また2019年には京コンピュータの百倍の1000ペタフロップス機(エクサスケーラー)を作る計画であった。この計画も完全に潰えた。

現状では今年にも、中国とアメリカが200-300ペタフロップス機を出す。2020年までには中国も米国もエクサスケーラー機を作る計画を立てている。しかし難航しているらしい。うまく行けば日本が勝つことができたのだ。だから今回の事件で一番喜んだのはなんといっても中国であろう。次が米国であろう。なんという利敵行為、オウンゴールなのであろうか。権力がマスメディアにわざと流すニュースを無批判に信じて同調する知識人、国民が多い現状を憂うる。懐疑的精神がほとんどない。私は日本の指導層とメディアと国民の科学技術の現状に対する無知に絶望する。

私はこの事件の一報を聞いた時に、ああ、これで日本は終わると思った。今すぐにではないだろう。現在の日本は少子高齢化により着実に衰退の一途を辿っている。しかしまだ発展途上国に転落したわけではない。日本人はいわば茹でガエルなのである。現状はまだそれほど悪くないので、暖かい風呂に浸かって良い気分にひたっている。しかし日本の衰退は着実である。多分2030年頃には、このままの経済は成り立たなくなり、茹で上がるのである。

黒船が到来したとき日本人は泰平の夢に酔いしれていた。だれも徳川幕府は未来永劫安泰だと思っていた。黒船到来から十数年で徳川幕府が滅びるとはだれが想像しただろう。日本が今から十数年後に欧米と中国にハイテク競争に敗れて発展途上国に転落したとき、実は2017年が日本の終わりの始まりであったことに気づくものはいるだろうか？

日本終了を逆転する道は高度な人工知能化とロボット化による省力化、生産性向上であることはすでに述べた。そのためのキモは人工知能研究と超知能用ハードの開発である。

まず人工知能ソフト研究における日本のお寒い状況を説明しよう。人工知能の研究機関の世界ランキングにおいて、日本で100位以内に入っているのは60数位の東大だけである。インパクトを与えた人工知能論文のアジアのランキングでは、中国が15編、シンガポールと香港が3編、マレーシアが2編、そして日本が1編である。なんと日本はマレーシアの後塵を配しているのである。中国と日本は15対1なのである。日本政府も実は最近、そのことに気がついてあわてて予算措置を始めた。しかしせいぜい数百億円であり、中国の数兆円とは比較にならない。
