between islands, and perform other duties within the ‘ahupua’a according to the light that Hina provided at night.
Kumu Kamealoha Smith formed Ke Kaiāulu O Anahola. He and 100+ children & youth collected data for over a year to build their knowledge about the ocean and land. Today he will share about the central role that the moon played in the lives of the elders and ways to incorporate the basic principles associated with the Hawaiian Moon Calendar into our everyday life.

ハワイの伝統的な自然に対する考え方は日本とよく似ています。例えば,漁業でいえば魚付き保安林の考え方,集落ごとに資源管理をする考え方,月周期に合わせた漁業の営みなど。いかに自然と共存するかが重要なのです。
ちなみに,アフプアア( ‘ahupua’a )は天然資源を管理して生活している流域のことを指します。
