Let's go exploring!!
先週末、五島高校のALT(外国語指導助手)であるKittyさんとドライブに行ってきました
彼女とその思い出を共有したいので、今日はEnglish Versionでお届けします
I took a drive with Kitty last weekend. She is from Canada and she works for Goto high school as an ALT (Assitant Language Teacher) . We met at noon and had lunch together at Bike House in Sakiyama, and then I took her to Kanjigashiro in Tomie. We discovered some interesting living things in the tide pool.

This is our Yadokari (= hermit crab) friend! We tried to put some of them together on a rock but they jumped into the tide pool. Kitty said "They are trying to commit suicide!!"

There are some pink flowers around. Their name is Hama-Nadeshiko which means Japanese beauty.
They don't look that special, but they are modest and simple. That's why they represent the beauty of Japanese women in the old days.

Hamayu (= crinum) is blooming now. The shape of the flower is very unique!

We haven't seen so many flowers blooming on cactus before. A surprise while we were driving. I spotted the flowers and we backed up the car for taking their photos. They are quite rare.

We had cake at tea time at Hatanaka in Tomie. I ordered rare cheese cake and Kitty had green tea mousse. She liked the cake container and took it home. She might use it as a plant pot in the future.

On the way to Kashinoura, we discovered this Nemunoki (= silk tree) and some wild flowers.

Kitty and Ajisai (= hydrangea). She said since they are already in a ball shape, they are good for wedding bouquet.

I found a small insect on the petal. There are different colors of Ajisai in this area.

This is the original Japanese Ajisai. They were exported to Europe and improved, then brought back to Japan as the ball-shaped Ajisai.

After I explained this to Kitty, she made this pose for the picture. 「コッチガホンモノダョ~
」

Akounoki (= banyan tree) at Kashinoura is designated as a natural monument of Nagasaki prefecture.

Strange roots hanging down from the tree branches. People enshrined the snake to protect this area...I think.

Blue hydrangea next to the banyan tree.

Ooops!! I was concentrating on photo-taking so I didn' t notice that Kitty took a picture of me!

Tairyo-bata(大漁旗) is a flag put on fishing ships in hope of having a big catch of fish. How colorful these flags are!

We found Tenmangu(天満宮) branch shrine near Akou tree while walking around.

There is a cow and a phrase "Life is a journey of study(人生は手習い)" carved on the stone.

Fudezuka(筆塚) is a place where people bring their used brush and enshrine them, because they think studying is very important in life.

There are some interesting stone sculpture, Shachihoko(鯱) and Komainu(狛犬).

We made a lot of new discoveries in Goto last weekend. I'm very sorry but Kitty is leaving Goto at the end of July. I hope these are good memories for her. Please come back to visit Goto and make more discoveries!
