12/29 ② Dear foreign Journalists in Japan
You are in Japan, so you may understand better what I am writing here.
In Japan, some religions co-exist.
You must find it very natural.
The Japanese people use church, shrine, temple as they like.
You may hear a japanese expression “Kami mo Hotoke mo nai”.
How do you translate Kami in japanese.
If you are christian, you may say God.
But in Japanese this Kami includes all the principals of every religion.
And Hotoke?
In the mind of Japanese people, Hotoke is the name global of dead people.
This does not have to do with Buddisme.
However, you know, sometime Japanese people call Budda as Hotoke (sama).
Now I am speaking about Yasukuni and Chidorigafuchi.
Chidorigafuchi is for Japanese soldier who died without finding their name.
During the second war, Japanese young men used to say before going to the war:
See you again at Yasukuni.
This means when they died at war, they would be buried at Yasukuni.
Then, at the end of the war, they executed resposibes of the war but for some reason the USA leaved bury these responsible executed in the Yasukuni.
The time has passed.
This summer the American people from US Government deposed the flower at Chidorigafuchi.
By this, USA meant that the Japanese should not go to Yasukuni.
But in the mind of the prime minister Abe that Yasukuni is for the dead soldiers.
I believe that he will go also to Chidorigafuchi soon.
Some American people call Yaskuni as War shrine.
This is very convenient for the USA to tighten the Japanese shy and timide.
Even the European agreed with the USA
But the UAS does the same to Germany and Italy?
Why only to Japan???
After the end of the second War more than 68 years passed and
we Japanese are not free yet and still must obey American occupation rules?
What do you think about all this, as journalists?
