真身舎利（しんじんしゃり）」は、釈迦の遺骨や遺物を納めた宝物のことで、仏教徒にとって非常に尊いものとされています。釈迦は入滅（にゅうじゅう）した後、遺骨が多数に分かれたため、それぞれが仏塔（ぶっとう）に納められ、各地に分散されています。

真身舎利は、釈迦の聖霊が宿るとされ、信仰心の厚い人々にとっては、真身舎利に触れることができること自体が、大変な福運とされています。
