TLC ICON D200

 今年2012年のSEMAで披露されたICON D-200。ベースは1965年製のDODGE D200の4ドアピックアックトラックである。ONE-OFF で製作されたこのトラックは外見はビンテージではあるが中身は現在のダッジラムから多くの部品を移植して作りあげた力作である。トラックはTLCのシンボルである爬虫類のトカゲを意識してデザインされている。唯一無二の部品を手間隙掛けて製作したと事もあり値段は20万ドル(約1700万円)程するらしい?

TLCのジョナサンワード氏とD200

 TLCの手掛けるトラックを観ると彼らの思想が観える。

 

 ピカソという有名な画家の若い頃の絵は繊細な写真の様な絵を描いていたと聞く。即ち、彼はいきなり筆を手に抽象画を描いたのではなくて、まずは絵の基礎(忠実なスケッチ)をしっかりと踏んだ後に抽象画を描いたのである。TLCも少し似た所がある。まずはランクルのレストレーションの基礎をしっかりと経験したその後に応用として始めたのがICONシリーズである。

 TLCはランドクルーザーのみに限らず、様々な車に対して自らのセンス(TLCらしさ)を表現する道を進んでいる事がハッキリしてきた。

 TLC ICON はモダンアートの世界に足を突っ込んで行っている様にも感じる。

 

 こんなのがあったら...、という夢をやっと製作する事が出来る術を得る事が出来たのが今のTLCなのである。

1964 Landcruiser FJ40

 アメリカの ebay に1964年のFJ40が出品された。

このFJ40は貴重なオリジナルエンジン、オリジナルペイントを保っている。

前回紹介した1966年FJ40と同じカリフォル二アのオーナーのコレクションの一台だと思われる。

 

 

HINGS DONE TO THE 1964 FJ40 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER AND OTHER FACTS: VIN NUMBER: 3FJ4020494 / STOCK F ENGINE NUMBER: F186956


> Cruiser is a rare 4 speed on the floor. Most early cruisers were 3 speed column shift.


> Cruiser is original paint and all body parts are original and all parts are there and accounted for.


> Replaced STEEL on back '' Sill " and cargo " Wheel Wells " / Steel parts made exact factory specs from Cool Cruisers of Texas.


> Painted just those area's of repair to maintain original patina. The cruiser is original paint, never painted since factory except for those area's of steel repair.


> Replace two spots STEEL below doors. There is ZERO bondo on this Land Cruiser. All Steel just like original.


> Installed BF GOODRICH All Terrains x 5 with 90% tread.


> Original hubcaps x 5 ( not reproductions )


> Repaired and rewired back lights.

 

> Repaired and rewired back lights.


> Replaced gauges.

> Oil change

> Differential fluid changed front and rear and inspected.

> Transmission fluid changed and Transmission inspected.

> Transfer case inspected and fluids changed.


> Radiator flushed, coolant replaced and inspected.


> Valve adjustment done two weeks ago. 


> New oil sending unit.


> Replaced AMP gauge.


> New Valve cover gasket kit.


> Replaced TEMP sender.


> Turn signal switch replaced.


> Water hose.


> Replace bulbs.


> Replace fuses.


> Replace rear latch.

> Replace left and right door latches.


> Replace rear wheel cylinders, bleed brakes and adjust.


> Replace Spark plugs.


> Distributor and Rotor.


> New brake fluid.


> Welded in new rear latch.

> Replace Hi Beam indicator.

> Rewire Speedo cable to Bezel.

> Compression Test showed excellent engine health: 140 - 135 - 135 - 135 - 130 - 140. Keep in mind that new compression off factory line would have been around 150 psi for a 1964 FJ40 F engine.

> New Alternator.

> New Battery.

> New Freeze plug.

> New Brake master cylinder.

> Replace Clutch Slave and Clutch Master cylinder.


> Misc. smaller things done along the way ( redrill holes for tire rack and remount, redrill seat mounts, etc. )


PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CRUISER IS A VERY RARE FACTORY 4 SPEED. AS MOST OF YOU KNOW, TOYOTA PUT IN COLUMN SHIFTS ( 3 SPEEDS ) IN THE OLD CRUISERS. THERE WAS AN OPTION FOR A 4 SPEED FLOOR SHIFTER. THIS CRUISER HAS IT. VERY TOUGH ORIGINAL LAND CRUISER AND I WOULD DRIVE IT FULL TIME TO ALASKA NEXT WEEK WITHOUT HESITATION. THE ENGINE IS EXTREMELY STRONG AND THE COMPRESSION NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. INTERIOR SEATS ARE ALL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, NO RIPS AND WILL LAST FOR MANY MORE YEARS. STEEL CARGO AREA AND FRONT FLOORS HAVE NO CANCER RUST AND AS MENTIONED ALL STEEL PARTS REPLACED WERE CUSTOM MADE BY THE VERY WELL KNOWN " COOL CRUISERS OF TEXAS ". AS YOU MAY KNOW THEY DO CUSTOM WORK AND RE-CREATE FJ40 PARTS EXACTLY TO FACTORY SPEC. 4速フロアーシフトは後付けの様です、当時の40は3速コラムシフトであった。

 

 これで都会(ニューヨーク)のド真ん中を走りたい...なぁ。
