[0006] Generally, the physician first uses a camera at the end of the endoscope to locate the cancerous tissue and then injects a saline solution or other injection fluid into the submucosal layer below the cancerous tissue. The fluid may be injected with a needle or other device that can be passed through or outside of the endoscope. The fluid creates a bubble beneath the cancerous tissue that causes the cancerous tissue to rise and protrude into the GI tract, thus making it easier for the physician to visualize and operate on/excise the cancerous tissue. Next, the physician inserts the cutting device into the working channel of the endoscope and an initial cut is made with the cutting device around the cancerous tissue. The cutting device is then moved left and right to make a series of small cuts around the entire cancerous area.
