「生まれて初めて経験する」ということは若いころに時々ありました。初めてのキス，初めての一人暮らし、初めての海外出張、初めてゴルフコースを回ったこと・・・・ 人生の半ばを過ぎるころには初めて経験するということが少なくなってきましたが、今でも時々あります。 一昨日また生まれて初めての経験をしました。 日本からやってきた若い出張者と一緒に上海の地下鉄に乗っていたところ、座席に座っていた普通の若い中国人女性に席を譲られたのです。最初は状況がよく飲み込めず、思わず「席を譲っている相手はオレのことか？」と自分を指さしましたがどうやらそのようでした。 上海万博が来るので外国人には親切にしましょうみたいなことかと思っていました。 一部始終をみていた若い出張者に確認してみたら、「失礼ですが、年配の方に席を譲ったということでしょう」と失礼な返答。見知らぬ他人に席を譲られるとは実にショッキングな初めての体験でした。こんな初体験は不愉快ですが同じようなことがこれから次々と起こるのでしょうね。徹底的に抵抗するか静かに受け入れるか。私の今の気持ちは前者です。
今夜日本に一時帰国します。連休中は好い風が吹きそうです。思いっきりウィンドサーフィンじゃ。
