And in case it started to rain .
He gave me his umbrella, otherwise I might catch cold
if my clothes got wet.

所有格に
　his unbrella（前の記入では He gave me un umbrella.でした。これは間違いではないのですが所有格をつけることで誰の傘かがわかるからこちらの方が分かりやすいですね）

サークルの仲間皆で英文を作りました

想像してください。
嵐の夜にスーパーに行く途中、交通事故を目撃しました。私は「オーマイガッ！！」といい、「どうしたんですか？」と近くにいた人に聞きました
事故は自転車に乗った少年を避けようとした車が他の車に衝突したということがわかりました。
おまわりさんが私に「懐中電灯を持っていてください」と頼みました
交通事故を周りに知らせることができるからです
雨に濡れて風邪を引くといけないから、おまわりさんは私に傘を貸してくれました。
（訳文ではありません。場面を想像できるような話にしました）
状況的に多少無理がありますが、あくまでも、英文作りのためのお話なので、
