【延期する、避ける】
put off （やりたくないことなど）先延ばしする、延期する
postpone 延期する（いつまでという期限を一緒に使うのが一般的、結婚式などの予定の延期）
avoid 避ける

I put off going to the dentist until I couldn't endure the pain.
私は痛みを我慢できなくなるまで歯医者へ行くのを延期した（先延ばしにした）
I put off doing the dishes after a party until after my favorite program but before going to bed I managed to do it.
わたしはパーティーの後の食器洗いをお気に入りの番組の後まで先延ばししたけれど、寝る前までに何とかすることができた。
