Hi Diane,
How are you doing?
Did you enjoy VIFF movies?
I left for Tokyo on October 4.
So I missed some interesting movies in Vancouver.
(viff2018.jpg)
However, I enjoyed the inflight movies while I was up in the air.

As you know, there is a global warming, and it was terribly hot in the last summer in Japan.
(hothot.jpg)
When I left for Tokyo on October 4, it was 7 ℃ at Vancouver Airport.
But it was 32 ℃ on Octover 7 in my hometown in Japan.
It was exceptionally hot!

Unfortunately, my mother is in the other world,
but I met her at the cemetry in my hometown.

Talking about Halloween 2018 in Japan, it was wild, weird and dangerous.
(ween001.jpg)
Diane, did you enjoy Haloween in Vancouver?
I'll be in Vancouver in a week.
I hope I'll meet you some day,
and wish the democrats will occupy as many seats as possible in the congress after the midterm election.
(2018election.jpg)
In any case, I hope your heart remains sunny the rest of the day.
Have a nice evening!
bye now.

Hi Kato, my smiling bohemian,
Wow! Five weeks back in Japan.
You really are good to keep in touch with your roots and hope the temperatures have dropped a bit so you don't melt ..
Global warming is seemingly affecting us all.
Here in Vancouver we're brrrr cold, and wet today, so really feeling like the wet coast.
Grateful for a nice warm dry place to come home to every day that's for sure.
VIFF is always fun and saw a few good movies.
There's such a spirit of excitement around the theatres at that time and it feels like you belong to a select group of movie lovers who are all anxious to explore other worlds and other realities.
When I was younger and still working I'd sometimes even take a week off just to concentrate on going to as many as I could fit into a day without losing my mind.
Guess I'm a lot more conservative now ... two a day at tops. :)
(interrupt5.png)
Well, got interrupted so now it's a day later and the weather is glorious .. perfect fall day.
So the usual up and down Vancouver weather which you'll know all about.
Hallowe'en was also mild and perfect for the trick or treating kiddies.
Peter decorated a pumpkin and his yard a bit and I went over to help him hand out candy.
(pumpkin3.jpg)
We had about 30 or so neighbourhood kids and were they ever adorable.
(hollowe06.jpg)
Fingers crossed for Tuesday in the USA and we're all hoping they'll show that Trump that he has gone TOO far with his fear mongering and lying/cheating ways.
(trump33.jpg)
What a sad excuse for the President of the USA. Ugh.
Have a good trip back and look forward to hearing about it IF I ever see the elusive Kato.
One day I just know we'll bump into each other, at least I hope so.
Thanks for the information.
Keep happy and hopping and hopeful, kiddo,
Luv, Diane ~

I'm back in Vancouver!
Wow! What a beautiful day!
13 ℃ at 11 AM and almost clear at the airport.
This morning it was raining in my Japanese hometown and the temperature dropped to 19 ℃ this morning.
Here, 13 ℃ isn't too bad, is it?
I didn't sleep at all last night because I watched inflight movies as usual.
I walked to the central library from the city centre station and now writing this mail.
Talking about Trump, the whole world is worried about him.
As you say, Trump has gone TOO far with his fear mongering and lying/cheating ways as if he was a born-again Hitler.
(trump34.jpg)
I really hope the democrats will take as many seats as possible tomorrow.
In any case, have a nice day and enjoy a beautiful evening.
Bye now

Welcome back, Kato.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that the moron gets put in his place tonight.
There's also supposed to be a big debate on Canadian TV about proportional voting.
(ballot08.jpg)
Lots going on ...
Sleep well tonight.
I'm sure you will.
As ever, Diane ~
(diane02.gif)
Kato, have you watched the debate about proportional voting on TV?
(kato3.gif)
Since I don't have a TV set, I watched a couple of YouTube clips.
(ballot05.jpg)
So, have you decided which one you're gonna vote?
Yes, of course I have... I'm in for proportional representation.
(ballot04.jpg)
I understand there are three types of proportional representation---Dual Member Proportional (DMP), Mixed member Proportional (MMP), and Rural-Urban Proportional (RUP).
(ballot07.jpg)
Which one are you gonna choose, Kato?
I'm gonna choose RUP.
Why is that?
Well... DMP is too simple.
(dmp.jpg)
You vote for one option... MMP is somewhat better.
(mmp.jpg)
You have two votes... and RUP seems the best for voters...
(rup.jpg)
...'Cause you can rank any number of options in your order of preference... By the way, Diane, have you mailed the ballot?
Yes, of course, I have... I'm glad your choice is the same as mine.
