　A　year  later  the  house  was  full  of  people,  young
professors  and  students  from  the  Faculty.  Never  before
had  we  had  so  much  fun  and  such  interesting  evenings.
We  didn't  make  much  money  from  the  boarders,  but
enough  to  meet  the  bills  and  keep  the  big  house  
going.

  1 年後、家は人でいっぱいになりました．若い大学教
授とその学部の学生たちでした．その頃ほど愉快で面白
い夕べはありませんでした．下宿人から入るお金はたい
した金額ではなかったのですが、収支バランスはうまく
取れておりました．
