お日様が顔を出してから、約ひと月。
もうこんなに高くなっている！
どんどん日が長くなっている！
なんて速いんだ。

オーロラは夜だというのに
太陽を思い出させてくれる。
地球の、
太陽の躍動的なエネルギーを感じる。

地球は宇宙を動いている星なんだ。
その動きの中に私もいるんだ。
私も変化しているんだ。

未来を楽しみに
さあ、まちに出かけよう。

 

It took about one month after the sun arrived.
The sun is already so high!
The day gets longer day by day!
How fast!

Aurora can remind me the sun even in the evening.
I can feel the active energy from the earth,
and the sun.

Earth is a moving planet in that space.
I also live in it.
I’m also changing.

I look forward to my future.

トロムソのオーロラが津の新聞に！？

先月末、津の友人が新聞記事を送ってくれました。

えーっ、トロムソのオーロラのことが記事になってる!
私が書く前に・・・！

It’s the end of January,
my friend in Tsu sent me an article from the newspaper.

Oh, it talks about the aurora in Tromso!
Before I could write about it・・・!

実は、どうやってオーロラのことを皆さんにお話ししようかと
ずっと考えていたんです。
だって私のカメラじゃ、オーロラを写真に撮るのは難しいんですもの。

もう写真なしでオーロラのこと、お話ししますね。

Actually I have been thinking of how I would write about aurora.
Because it’s too difficult to take pictures of aurora with my camera.

So I will write about it without aurora pictures.

そう、ここトロムソではオーロラがとってもよく見えます。
うちのベランダからも見えます。
だいたい、夜9時ごろ、本当に家の真ん前、真上をオーロラが現れるんですよ。
雪の日や曇った日以外はよく見えます。

Yes, you can see aurora very well here in Tromso.
We can see it from the veranda of the houses too. 
It often really appears in front of me and above my head about nine in evening,
 except on snowy or cloudy days.

でも、本やネットで見る写真のような素晴らしいものばかりではありません。
ほんのりしてたり、くっきりはっきりしてたり
細く伸びたり、満天に広がったり、
すぐに消えたり、早い時間から夜中まで出ていたり、
雲をも突き抜けて見えたり・・・。
日によって違うし、同じ日でも変化し続けます。

But it’s not always beautiful like in the pictures in books or on the net.
It can be not so clear or very clear,
running like a ribbon, spread all over the sky.
It can disappear soon, or continue for a long time from early in the evening,
and be strong enough to appear through clouds・・・
It is different depending on the day and it continues to change over the same day.

不意にオーロラの中を星が大きく流れるのを見た時は、涙まで

すーーーー。

when a shooting star suddenly fell, a tear ran down,

でも、しみじみ思うんです。
空を見上げている、この時間が幸せなんだなあ、と。
But I think that from the heart
I can be happy during the time when I’m looking up at the sky.

柴田トヨさんの詩の中にあったなあ。

「あなたも持ったほうがいいわよ。
星空を見上げる余裕」。
（確か、そんな感じ(>_<)）

I remember Toyo Shibata, a Japanese poet, who in a poem says:

“You should take the time,
to look up at the sky full of stars.”
(I’m sorry if I don’t remember it correctly! )

そうそう、オーロラ情報があります！
今なら津でオーロラを見ることができますよ。
私も年末に見てきました。素敵でしたよ!

今度はノーザンライトフェスティバル！

トロムソのノーザンライトフェスティバル（１/30~2/7）も終わりました。
クラシックからポップス、クラッシックバレエなど、
いろんなコンサートがありました。

The Northern light festival finished.
There were different concerts, classic, pop, classic ballet etc.

私がせっせと行ったのは、ランチコンサート。
トロムソの音楽大学の生徒が出演して、
毎日やって、しかも無料！
さすがプロの卵。演奏も歌も素晴らしかったです！

I went to the lunch concerts as often as possible.
Students from the music college of Tromso performed on it every day
and it’s free!
They are the future professionals
so their playing and singing were very great!

 

ランチコンサートの会場は主にここSkansen。
230年前の建物がそのまま残されています。
アットホームで手作りのデニッシュ、ケーキもおいしくて、
とってもリラックスできました。

The venue for the lunch concerts is often here at Skansen,
which was built 230 years ago and has been preserved.
It is home-like and the Danish pastry and cakes were very good,
and I was so relaxed.

 

高齢者の心地よい刺激になり、
若者の応援になり、
会場も生かされる。

こういう企画いいなあ。

This style of event is good stimulation for older people
and encouraging for young musicians,
and a good way to use the place.
I like this concept!

ノルウェーのクラッシックもあり、
山の雪景色と調和しているようでした。(別会場)

There was Norwegian classic music,
which seemed be in harmony with the view of the snowy mountains.
（At another place）

ノルウェーには、普通のバイオリンに似たハーディングフェーレという楽器があるんです。
通常の弦の他に　下に弦が４、５本あって、独特の音色です。

There is a Norwegian instrument called “Hardingfele” which is like a violin.
It has four or five extra strings which run under the fingerboard, and the sound is unique.

音楽も含め芸術は、環境に影響されるんですねえ。
Art, including music, is affected by the environment.

日本では金色、銀色、金色って使いたいとあまり思わなかったんですけど、
ここでは使いたくなってきます。
自然の中にいろんな金色、銀色があるんですもの。

今日はこんなのを作りました(＾◇＾)

I didn’t want to use the gold and silver color in Japan
but here I ’m coming to want them.
Because I found a lot of gold and silver color here.
I made this today.

私たちのキャラクターは、Mr.ウグ郎!

先日のブログの写真に出てきたフクロウには、
実は、お話があるんです。
Actually there is a story about the owl on the last post picture.

私は、日本でリサイクルショップによく行っていた。

ある日
私はトロムソのリサイクルショップに立ち寄った。
私は何やら気配のようなものを感じ、
あたりを見まわした。
すると、彼がいたのだ。
私はウキウキと彼を買って出てきた。

I used to go to the recycled-goods shop in Japan.

One day, I dropped by one in Tromso.
I felt something like a sign there and I looked around.
And I found him.
I happily bought him and left there.

フクロウは、ノルウェー語で「Ugler(ウグロ)」というそうだ。
「フクロウ」と「ウグロ」、発音そっくりじゃん！
日本とノルウェーの共通キャラクターは、フクロウに決まり！

それから、いいフクロウいないかなあ、とずっと探していたのだ。
(正確には『ウグレ』だったと後にわかるのだが・・・)

“Hukuro” in Japanese is “Ugle” in Norwegian,
and owl in English.

HUKURO and UGURO,
are very similar by pronunciation!
We decided our common character is owl!
(Although I later learned that the exact pronunciation was “UGLE”. )

I had been looking for a good owl since then.

日本とノルウェーを行き来することになった私。

何を　どうやってしようかと日々探している昨今。

「焦りなさんな」と諭すようなその瞳。
お見通しのようなその瞳。

私は、こう名づけた。

「 Mr.ウグ郎 」

I can go and come between Norway and Japan
I have been looking for what I will do, and how, in these days.

His eyes seem to say “don’t hurry up”.
His eyes seem to see inside me.

I named him

“Mr. Ugulo”（UGURO）Ugu郎

Mr.ウグ郎ともどもこれからもよろしくお願いいたします。
I hope he will be a good friend with you as well!

一期一会を大切に

今日は、庭の松ぼっくりでキャンドルを飾ってみました。

I decorated the candle stand with pine corns from the garden.

さて、さて、TIFFのつづきです。

Then it continues my TIFF experience.

 

私がボランティアをさせてもらったのは、三日間。
私の仕事は、一番簡単なもの、
チケットもいで笑顔でお出迎えと席の案内。
上映中のトラブルチェック（この時も映画が見れる！）終わった後のお掃除。

このTIFFでは、感心することがいっぱいでした！

I had done volunteer work for three days.
My work is the easiest type of work,
which is to collect tickets, welcome the guests with smile and lead them to available seats,
 check if there are any problems,
and clean up the place and seats after every screenings.

There were a lot of things with TIFF that impressed me!

ボランティアのメンバーは、トロムソ在住のノルウェー人だけでなく、スペイン、フランス、イタリア、クルドゥスタン、南アフリカなどから来てトロムソに住んでいる人たちもいました。
オスロ（ノルウェーか）、スウェーデン、シンガポールなどからTIFFのために来た人たちもいました。（退職した人、学生さんが多かったなあ。）
事前ミーティングに参加していない人もたくさん。
それでも、仕事がちゃんと回りました。

なぜでしょう・・・？

The volunteer members are not only Norwegians but also Spanish, French, Kurdistans, South Africans etc., who live in Tromso.
There were some who had come to Tromso from Oslo, Sweden, Singapore etc. for TIFF.
(A lot of people are students or retired.)
Many volunteers couldn’t take part in the preparation meeting.
But the work finished with no problems even so.

Why?

1.皆が英語を話す
面白いことに、英語が母国語でない人たちがほとんどでした。
皆さん、私にも親切で、何度も言ってくれるし、よく聞いてくれます。

1.Everybody can speak English.
Interestingly, for most of the volunteers English is not their mother tongue.
Everybody was very kind to me.
They repeated for me and listened carefully.

2.
仕事の詳しい説明が、事前にメールで送られました。
英文全部読むのに時間はかかりました、私は。(>_<)
でも、そのおかげで、仕事自体に不安がなかったんです。

The specific explanation written in English about volunteer work was sent to us in advance.
It took a long time for me to read it,
but I didn’t have to worry about the work.

当日は、忙しかった!
それで、残念なことに他のボランティアの人と話す時間はあまりなかったんです(>_<)
During the work I was very busy so unfortunately I couldn’t get enough time to talk with other volunteers much.

ボランティアの皆さんへ
ほんとに笑顔の素敵な皆さん。
即座に連携とりながら動いた皆さん。
「ありがとう」「こんにちは」「ナルト、だいすき」と日本語で声をかけてくれた方々。

Dear fellow volunteers,
Your smiles were really very nice!
You cooperated from the start.
You talked to me in Japanese:
“ARIGATOU”, “KONNICHIWA”, “NARUTO DAISUKI”.
 
もう一度会えると思っていたのに会えなかったので、言いそびれました。

ほんとに皆さん、ありがとうございました～！
