善光寺 宿坊のまち並み

善光寺の門前町を歩きました。幸い快晴。歩道にも木陰が整備され大変心地よい道です。

お店も塗り屋造り、土蔵などの形式を基調に修景されています。

看板などもルールに従っているようです。

山門に近づくと歩行者道。うまくできています。

・・・で、私が見たかったのが宿坊の並びです。

やはり今も講組織が生きているようです。

坊も町家と同じように間口が狭く、奥の深い敷地に建っているようです。

もちろん町家とは違い、門構えがそれぞれにあります。

一本裏の通りも宿坊街となっています。

今は講中よりも一般のお客さんのほうが多いのではないでしょうか。坊が途切れることなくまち並みを形成しているのは、さすがに善光寺です。

I have been engaged in Toge-no-Machinami project for ten years.Toge is a pilgrimage village of Shugen-Do, a traditional religion that worships the holiness of nature itself, located in Tsuruoka-City of Yamagata pref. Shukubo is a small temple and a lodge for pilgrims, run by a Yamabushi or moutain monk. As Japanese people's alienation from Shugen-Do is progressing and Shugen-Do pilgrim people decline, the number of Shukubo has been steadly declining. The landscape of the Toge or Shukubo village is changing day by day, the village is loosing the atomosphere of holiness and the sense of degnity.

Therefore the street of Zenkoji Temple, lined with small Shukubo or pilgrims' lodge temples , is very much interesting to me.

善光寺に素晴らしいアールデコ建築

善光寺の参道を降りていくと一際存在感を放っているのが、藤屋旅館。加賀前田家がお泊りになる御本（陳）陣。

大正13（1924）年、設計施工は宮大工の師田庄左衛門（善光寺にも関わっていたそうです）。登録文化財としての解説を見るとアールデコ建築となっていますが、柱頭や軒回りなど古典様式的な要素もうまく組み込まれています。レリーフなどの装飾的な要素にも柔らかな要素が見えたり、中央部ペディメントのあたりなど、セセッション的ともいえるのではないでしょうか。

これが木造というので驚きます。

木造の骨組みの上に鉄網とコンクリート（モルタル？）で仕上げたとなっています。

そういえば以前大阪船場で見た清水猛商店（設計住友工作部　小川安一郎）も木造の3階建てでした。同じ大正13年築です。

中も見事です。うまくリニューアルされています。

タイルも張り替えられていますが、昔のものを使っているのでしょうか。日本製のマジョリカタイルのように見えますがどうでしょうか？

After calling in my old friends' house in Madarao, I  visited Zenkoji Temple, a national treasure, and enjoyed walking the crowded Monzenmachi street of Zenkoji Templ. We call  the town of shops in a line  in front of the great temples Monzenmachi, or Monzenmachi street. I found the 3 storied building outstanding among Jpanese traditional style buildings or Machiya.

Fujiya hotel is an art-deco style building designed and built by Morota Sho'emon, a miyadaiku or a shrine and temple carpenter in 1924. Although it looks like a reinforced-concrete structure from the appearance, it is a wooden structure building, with well designed and very comfortable spaces inside.
