Sleeping with animals,
A newborn baby lies in the manger.
Reflecting the light in the darkness
Heavenly Stars shine in the water.
牛は知り驢馬も知りたる飼葉桶
十字姿に眠る嬰児
聖母汲む井戸に降りたる空の星
今も輝く深き水底

Ox recognizes a newborn baby and Donkey also knows
The way from the manger to the cross.
Having descended unto the well our lady once drew
Heavenly stars shine in the depth of the water now.
