Monsoon!!

GT against Monsoon !

Mr. Takenouchi and Mr. Nishioka are our frequenters. Both of them have broken their GT catch record again and again.They have been wandering several times in this Andaman Seaﾊ searching for Giant Trevally from various spots. From the Red Rock, southern Thai border to the very north Islands near Myanmar boundary, are the areas which they have already tested their skill. This rainy season, both of them are on duty here in Thailand. They kept track of the weather conditions waiting for any chance of calm sea. Finally, on the 8th of August 2003, we informed them that the Monsoon had just stopped and the weather conditions was suitable to go out deep sea for some few days. Immediately, they decided to come.

Takenouchi and Nihioka had quite a very short time on Sunday the 10th of August 2003 for fishing. They casted their popper lures searching for GT around the southern tip of Raja Noi Island. The best time of the day started in that afternoon when a big school of GT attacked their poppers. Finally , late that evening, they boarded 4 Giant Trevally to weigh on the boat before releasing.

The size are approx.10 KG. up to 24 KG. While a lot of GT loosed because of line breaks and the hooks spread-bented. They managed returning to Phuket safely when the new storm occured. It is because of their experience and skill, though they didn' t have much time while fishing and struggled against the monsoon, they successfully got the Great Trophy.

Sport fishing tournament

* Phuket International Sportfishing Classic 21 - 22 - 23 NOV 2003 *
The 1st Winner is * Suzuki * a famous Japanese Sportfishing Angler.
The 1st Team Winner is his team * Luxxe 1 * This Luxxe Team is sponsored by Gamakutsu. Suzuki is one of the frequented visitor of Phuket, he did fishing here often. On the first day of this tournament he got nothing.
The second day , he got a Sailfish, after photgraphing to present to Referee, and releasing the Sail he went for GT Fishing but still get nothing because that time was low tide. Captain decided to move out of the Rajanoi Island to an underwater Rock which is quite high like a mountain. The Peak of this rock is only 25 metres under the surface of the sea. Suzuki decide to do * Jigging * with heavy lure. After a while, a fish strike, Captain speed the boat out of that area to avoid line trap. Suzuki spend not much time to pump the fish to the surface, it is a Huge GT. AT 5 pm. the committee announced that this Giant Trevally got by jigging weighed 31.8 kg.

New GT spot

New GT Spot at Japanese Island !

Recently our crew and some of our frequented customers decided to explore an unspoiled area in the Andaman Sea along the west coast of Thailand near the Myanmar border. Finally they discover that it is the " Condominium " of various kinds of those Trevally , Jack etc. of the Carangidae Family.

This place , chained by a group of various size Islands , located in the north of Phuket around 200 KM. by car and 2 - 3 hours by boat., is not in the tourist route , rarely pass by any boat . However , by co-incident , one of those Island officially name is " Koh Ra " but the local people in that area know this Island as * Koh Yee-Poon * ! ( Japanese Island )

In Thai language ; Koh means Island , while Yee-Poon means Japanese .

The main reason of calling Koh Yee-Poon because originally Japanese resided on this Island during the World War 2 , 60 years ago . The evidence of History is today there are still Japanese Style House on this Island . However the house is very old and already rotten .

Cruise Center willing to add up and organize GT Fishing in that area for all Sportfisherman and Anglers from now on.

Any Japanese from Japan are heartily welcome to fish here at.......Japanese Island ( Koh Yee-Poon )

Itinerary should be as follow ; A Party of 1 to 4 persons

Arriving at Phuket Airport by any evening Flight ( Friday ) , transfer by car around 3 hours to the boat . Sleeping on board.
Boat leaving around midnight or 01.00 hr. to GT Spot.

Early next morning start GT Fishing and go on fishing whole day until sun set. Sleep one more night on board .

Keep on casting popper lures from the next morning until mid-Sunday , then return to the main land and back to Phuket Airport .

Or staying one more night is also possible for any one who have longer holiday.

Cost of the Trip :

We still charge the same price as any long range trip ; 15,000 Thai Baht per one day. including transfer by car and food fullboard.

To promote this new fishing spot, we agree to accept 2 days Fishing Trip ( instead of minimum 3 days trip ) charging 30,000 Baht .

For Full 3 days & 3 nights GT Fishing Trip we charge 40,000 Baht only !

Opening season of this * Japanese Island * is from November to mid-May .

From June to October, during monsoon , that area is not accessible .
