Hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Hello, my name is Kiyoshi Yamauchi (or Yamauchi Kiyoshi) and I’m professor of English at Niimi University. Congratulations on your wonderful performance and hard work for your presentation! Every year I am lucky enough to be invited to this speech contest. I enjoy listening to your speeches every time. The reason I enjoy this speech contest every year is perhaps because I liked English when I was a junior high school student like you do now. Do you like English? That’s very nice.
By the way do you know about an NHK drama “Come Come English”? Maybe your parents or grandparents know this drama and watch this every morning. In this drama the main character listens to the radio English Conversation lesson. Mr. Tadaichi Hirakawa who is from Takahashi City taught this radio English Conversation Lesson. He was very popular all over Japan. Mr. Hirakawa proposed to establish Come Come Club. If you belonged to the club you can talk to any other member of the club any time. So similarly I would like to propose establishing Niimi Come Come Club and all of you are members now. So when you see me or any of the ALTs or any Japanese teachers of English in town, you can always speak to us in English. Or if you see any other student member in town or at a school event, you can speak with each other in English. If you want to speak to me in English, or you want to ask me anything about English you can always come to me in Niimi University, or you can send me an email anytime. I do hope that by establishing an English-friendly environment, we can make Niimi City more international. Please keep studying English every day.

Hello, boys and girls, parents and teachers, and reporters from newspaper and TV station!
My name is Kiyoshi YAMAUCHI. I am Kiyoshi YAMAUCHI. I teach English at Niimi University. I am Professor of English at Niimi University. Thank you very much for having me this morning. Thank you very much for inviting me here. I have enjoyed listening to your speeches, dramas, and recitations. Every year I am invited to this English Contest as a commentator. So I look forward to attending this even every year. But this year, there has been coronavirus infection all over, so I was worried that this contest would be canceled, or I have to see students’ presentations on screen, or I thought I have to do this speech through the Internet, or even worse I would not be invited to be able to have a shorter ceremony. So I am very glad to be here and to be able to listen to your performances in person.

I have a question to the students here.
Do you like English? Please raise your hand if you like English.
Good. If you like English, English is your advantage. So study very hard, or study harder than your friends. If you are good at music, practice music hard, or if you are good at sports, then train hard. But your advantage is English, so just study hard, and English will help you in your future life. Good luck in your English studies.

令和元年度新見市中学校英語学習表現発表会指導講評　2019年12月7日

Hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. My name is YAMAUCHI Kiyoshi, and I teach English at Niimi University.
Thank you very much for inviting me this wonderful occasion. I really enjoyed listening to your presentation.
As we listened to the presentation by the students who visited our sister city, Sidney Town this fall, I am going to talk to you about sister cities.
But before that I would like to point out these merits of English leaning. First of all, you can get good marks in your tests. You can also enjoy YouTube in English too. You can sing and listen to English songs. You can watch movies, and read books in English. You are able to talk in English with people overseas. Very often the people overseas who are close to you are your ALTs. So speak to your ALTs in English. And last but not least, you can enjoy international exchanges with your English ability.
So what is International Exchange? It is a communication between you and someone who is from a different culture or background, using a common language. In most of the cases, you and/or another person has to speak a language which is not your mother tongue. So if you can communicate well in a different language, you must be very happy.
Now I would like to talk about sister city program. The sister city program was promoted by the 34th President of the United States of America, President Eisenhower. This program was now taken by Mary Eisenhower, a granddaughter of President Eisenhower.
Niimi City has two sister cities and one friendship city. The friendship city is Shiga Ward, Shinyo City, Kanan Province, China, and the two sister cities are New Paltz Village, New York, USA, and Sidney Town, British Columbia, Canada. Yes, we have two English-speaking sister cities.
These are photos of each city and its exchanges.
In this September I was a member of the group visiting our American sister city. I also had a wonderful time like the students who visited our Canadian sister city. So if you have a chance please join our sister city group and enjoy exchanges in English.
Lastly, students, please thank your teachers, your family, your friends, and yourself for being able to attend today’s contest, and keep up the good studies of English.

平成27年度　新見市中学校英語学習表現発表会　指導講評　山内　圭

Boys and girls, parents and teachers, welcome to Niimi College, fist of all. Thank you very much for inviting me to such a wonderful opportunity like this. I really enjoyed your performances.
This is my turn to say something and give you some advice.
When I was a junior high school student like you about 35 years ago, we did not have ALTs at school. We had no Assistant English Teachers. So I only had two chances to speak with native speakers of English in my junior high school days. The first chance was when we went to Kyoto for our school trip. My friend and I spoke to a very beautiful young foreign lady in English. I was very nervous but I did my best. We only asked the time, her name and where she was from, but we enjoyed the conversation very much. I even got her autograph. Our conversation took place only 2 minutes or so. But I found speaking in English very interesting and exciting. The second time was when an American friend of my Japanese teacher of English visited our English lesson. We had a wonderful time then again. I realized how exciting it was to speak to foreigners in English. It was only one class so it took 45 minutes. So I only had 47 minutes of English conversation in my junior school days. Only 47 minutes.
Now I believe that you have your wonderful ALT in your school. You have many chances to talk to foreigners in English. You have much more than 47 minutes to speak in English, perhaps 47 hours, or maybe more. Try hard and use your chances. Use your ALT and use your Japanese teachers of English. Use your Television so that you can listen to a lot of English every day. Challenge STEP test and other English tests. And of course study English very hard in your classroom. Good luck in your studies of English. Thank you.

毎年開催されている新見市英語学習表現発表会、今年はクリスマスイブの開催となりました。



市内の小学生3組、中学生9組が暗唱やスピーチなどを行いました。

生徒たちの発表後に指導講評をさせてもらうことになっていますが、今回は大体以下のようなことをお話ししました。

皆さん、こんにちは。私は山内　圭といいます。新見公立大学で英語を教えています。今日は皆さんのプレゼンテーションを大いに楽しんで聞かせてもらいました。このように素晴らしい発表会にお招きいただきありがとうございました。


私は毎年このように英語で指導講評をさせてもらってきましたが、今回は皆さんにしっかりと伝えたいことがありますので、日本語でお話させてもらいます。先日まで開催されていたサッカーのワールドカップを皆さんご覧になりましたか？先ほど、サッカーをやっているという話もありましたよね。私も小学校の頃にサッカーをやっていましたのでサッカーが好きで日本チームももちろん応援していましたが、その他のチームの試合も夜更かししながら見ていました。今回も日本チームは決勝リーグに進出して素晴らしかったですが、日本の選手のインタビューを聞いていると、これを見ている子どもたちにサッカーのすばらしさを伝えたいとか、将来、サッカー選手になってワールドカップを目指してほしいなどのコメントが聞かれました。確かにサッカーをやっている人はその素晴らしさを次の世代に伝えるという使命があると思います。実は私は英語教員として侍ブルーのサッカー選手たちと同じような気持ちを持っています。つまり、次の世代の皆さんや自分の学生たちに英語のすばらしさを教えたいという気持ちです。皆さんの英語の先生もきっと同じお気持ちを持っておられることと思います。今日ここで英語学習の発表を行った皆さんはきっと英語が好きで、おそらく英語が得意で、自分の中でも他の教科より英語ができるという人が多いかもしれません。ぜひ、皆さんの中から将来英語の道を目指す人が出てほしいと思っています。英語の道と言ってもいろいろな職業がありますが、もちろん英語教員でもいいですし、それ以外にも英語を活かした職業はたくさんあります。この中から誰かが中学校の英語の教員になって、何年か後にこの発表会で先生となって自分の生徒を指導しているという人が出たらなんと素晴らしいことでしょう。もちろん、私の席に座り指導講評役を務める人が出て来てくれてもいいです。すべての人が英語の道を目指すとは限りませんので、もちろん他の職業に就く人も多いと思います。先ほどの皆さんの発表を聞かせてもらうと、皆さんの中からは落語家や環境保護活動家や平和活動家や芸術家などの仕事につく人がでそうですが、その場合にも英語もできる各職業人になってもらいたいと思います。外国語ができると視野が広がりますし、活躍の場も増えると思います。また、英語は中学校では主要教科としてほぼ毎日授業があり、予習復習もして毎日英語に触れていると思います。私は大学で教えていますが、大学では自分の専攻分野を決めます。英語や英文学などを専攻分野に決めたら毎日英語に触れることになりますが、殆どの人は英語以外の専攻分野を選ぶと思います。例えば私が教えている新見公立大学では、看護や保育や福祉です。大学では英語の授業は週1回か2回しかありません。英語は多くの皆さんにとって外国語だと思います。そして言葉は触れていないとどんどん忘れてしまいます。大学生になって他の勉強をされる場合も、ぜひ自分で時間をとって英語の勉強も続けて行ってもらいたいと思います。何年後かの話になると思いますが、これをぜひ皆さんに伝えたいと思って今日のお話は日本語でさせてもらいました。それでは、今日の発表はお疲れ様でした。これからも英語の勉強を頑張ってください。

(原稿を読んでいませんので、大体このような話をするつもりで壇上に立ち、多少端折りながらもこのようなあらすじの話をさせてもらいました。)

日本子ども虐待防止学会第28回学術集会ふくおか大会研究発表・シンポジウム(2022年12月10・11日)

2022年12月10日(土)・11日(日)、福岡市の福岡国際会議場と福岡サンパレスにおいて日本子ども虐待防止学会第28回学術集会ふくおか大会が開催されました。







元同僚の研究チームに英語助言者的に関わるようになり、今回の学術集会において公募シンポジウムに登壇させていただき、また2件のポスター発表に共同発表者として名を連ねさせていただきました。





とてもよい経験になりました。

福本神楽同好会より神楽面などを寄贈いただく(2022年12月)

何度か書いていますが、地域文化実習という科目の備中神楽コースのコーディネータを務めています。

先日、新見市福本地域の福本神楽同好会から大学宛てにお電話をいただき、メンバーの高齢化によりもう神楽を舞うことができないので、面などの道具を本学に寄贈したいとの申し出をいただきました。

11月1日(火)に道具類を出しているからとのことで、福本公民館に見せてもらいに行きました。

そして、12月7日(水)に同好会から3名の方に来ていただき寄贈式を執り行いました。

2022年度 にいみ子育てカレッジ 子育て支援者に対する研修

2022年度 にいみ子育てカレッジ 子育て支援者に対する研修が開催され、今年も1講座を担当させていただきました。







今年は「英語の絵本を読む」と題し、 Lisa Tawn Bergren著、Laura J. Bryant絵のGod Gave Us Youを読みました。



この本は、松波 史子訳で『わたしがママのこでよかった？』と題して翻訳出版されています。

実は、これは我が子が生まれる前に妻と読んでいた思い出の絵本でもあります。



受講者の皆さんととてもよい時間が共有できたと思います。

来年度も担当することになったらまた別の絵本を読もうと思います。

新見市国際交流協会「にいみ国際交流まちあるき」開催(2022年11月12日)

2022年11月12日(土)、新見市国際交流協会主催「にいみ国際交流まちあるき」を開催しました。

以前は国際交流バスツアーを行ってきましたが、コロナの影響により昨年度からまち歩きに変更しております。

今年は参加者を2班に分け、まずは城山公園に行き紅葉狩りをした後、御殿町まち歩きボランティアガイドの会のメンバーのご案内で御殿町を散策しました。

班長兼写真撮影係のため自分は写真に写っていませんが、これが僕の班のメンバーです。













和気あいあいと散策しながらいろいろなお話もでき、よい交流の機会になったと思います。

新見ライオンズクラブ認証65周年記念大会において学生たちが備中神楽を披露(2022年10月23日)

2022年10月23日(日)、新見商工会館において新見ライオンズクラブの認証65周年記念大会が開催されました。



その祝宴の余興として、学生たちの備中神楽の披露の機会をいただきました。

新見ライオンズクラブには大学としてとてもお世話になっております。

今回も頑張っている学生たちを応援したいということでお招きいただきました。

今年度の備中神楽の授業は10月に始まったばかりでまだまだ舞える技量はありません。

4月の駅西交流棟(通称「えきよこ」)のオープニングセレモニーと同様、昨年度の備中神楽履修者から有志を募り、参加させていただきました。

榊舞と事代主命舞を披露させていただいたところ、大好評をいただきました。

新見土下座祭り参加(2022年10月15日)

2022年10月15日(土)、船川八幡宮の秋季例大祭、別名「土下座祭り」が3年ぶりに開催されました。

この日は、地域福祉学科の2年生が地域文化実習のお囃子隊として参加するので科目コーディネータとして参加、そして前夜の湯立ての神事に続き、ボランティア学生の引率も兼ねていました。

船川八幡宮湯立ての神事参加(2022年10月14日)

2022年10月14日(金)、新見市新見の船川八幡宮の秋季例大祭の前夜祭である湯立ての神事が執り行われました。

学生もボランティアで参加していましたので引率兼写真係として参加させていただきました。




湯立ての神事に続く儀式で大学代表として玉串を捧げさせていただきました。
