CB1300SB を所有しているから「車体アライメント」（前後タイヤの整列）について、改めて問合せを受けましたので、解説用の新しいイラストや表を添えて、より分かり易い記事を作成しました。

We have received some inquiries about "body alignment" (wheel alignment) from CB1300SB owners, so we have created a new article with new illustrations and tables to make it easier to understand.
 

 

アライメント（整列）とは、組み立てられた部品が本来あるべき正しい位置にある事、或いは正しい位置に合せる事ですが、大量生産されるオートバイでは、殆どの場合、フロントフォークや前後タイヤの整列は充分ではありません。
いつまでも、楽しく、安全なオートバイライフを過ごしたいと考えている人は、是非、ご覧下さい。

車体アライメントがオートバイライフの基本 / Vehicle Alignment is the Foundation of Motorcycle Life

 

オートバイとライダーにとって大変に不幸な事ですが、僕が知る限り、日本では “車体アライメント（整列）” がとても軽視されています。例え、ライダーが乗り難さを感じても、旋回時の左右で挙動の違いを感じても、それを乗りこなすのがライダーの “腕” と広く信じられています。しかし、それは誤った考え方です。それはライディングの楽しさを減らし、オートバイの寿命を縮めるだけでなく、間違いなく危険な状態です。
 
もし、あなたが “いつまでも、楽しく、安全な オートバイライフ” を過ごしたいと願っているのなら、部品を交換してカスタムを楽しんだり、排気音に心地良さを感じる以前に、【 車体アライメント（整列）】に関心を持つべきです。

Unfortunately for motorcycles and riders, as far as I know, vehicle alignment is very overlooked. Even if the rider feels it is difficult to ride or feels a difference in behavior between the left and right when turning, it is widely believed that it is the rider's "skill" to ride it properly, which not only reduces the enjoyment of riding and shortens the life of the motorcycle, but is definitely a dangerous state.
If you want to have a "fun and safe motorcycle life forever", you should be interested in vehicle alignment before you enjoy customizing your motorcycle by replacing parts or enjoying the pleasant sound of the exhaust.

 

車体アライメントとは、オートバイの様々な部品が、本来あるべき位置に正しく存在している事であり、正しい位置へと修正する事も意味します。例えば、直進走行中のオートバイでは、本来、前後のタイヤは一本の同じ線の上を通る様に設計されているのが［車体アライメント］です。同様に、フロントサスペンションの 2本のフォークも、本来、同じ平面上で平行に固定されるのも［車体アライメント］であり、それによって正しく機能して性能を発揮できる様になっています。

しかし、メーカーの生産ラインでは、厳密には［車体アライメント］の測定や管理は行なわれず、タイヤ交換を行なうショップなどでも［車体アライメント］の確認や調整は行われないのが一般的です。それにより、［車体アライメント］の狂いをライダーが感じるか否かは別として、オートバイにとっては本来の正しい動きが妨げられている状態です。それによって、オートバイの挙動に影響を与え、オートバイの寿命を縮め、ライダーにとっても、知らない内に、ライディングの楽しさが減らされて、走行上の危険が増している状態ですから、この［車体アライメント］の大切さの認識と理解が広がる必要があります。

Vehicle alignment means that the various parts of a motorcycle are in the correct position as they should be, and also means correcting them to the correct position. For example, when a motorcycle is traveling straight, the front and rear tires are designed to pass on the same line, which is vehicle alignment. Similarly, the two forks of the front suspension are also fixed parallel to the same plane, which is vehicle alignment, so that they can function correctly and perform well. 

However, strictly speaking, vehicle alignment is not measured or managed on the manufacturer's production line, and tire change shops generally do not check or adjust vehicle alignment. As a result, regardless of whether the rider feels the deviation in vehicle alignment, the motorcycle is prevented from moving correctly. This affects the behavior of the motorcycle, shortens its lifespan, and even for the rider, reduces the enjoyment of riding and increases the danger of riding without them realizing it, so there is a need to spread awareness and understanding of the importance of this "vehicle alignment."

後輪の車軸のずれは、ホイールアライメントを乱す大きな原因です / Misalignment of the Rear Axle leads to Misalignment of the Wheels

オートバイにとって、前後タイヤは一本の直線の上進むのが正常な状態です。つまり、前輪の前後方向の向き（中心線）と後輪の向き（中心線）はぴったりと重なって走行するのが正常です。が、実際には、殆どの車両では前後のタイヤの向き（中心線）はずれています。その為、オートバイ本来の操縦性や運動性能、場合によっては安全性が損なわれています。

For motorcycles, it is normal for the front and rear wheels to move in a straight line. In other words, the front wheel's center line and the rear wheel's center line should be perfectly aligned. However, in reality, the front and rear tires on most vehicles are not aligned. This impairs the motorcycle's inherent maneuverability, driving performance, and in some cases, safety.

ホイールアライメント（前後タイヤの整列）が狂った状態で走行をすると、前後車輪の向きを一致させようとする力が働いて、下記の図で示す様に、車体が僅かに傾いた状態での直進走行を余儀なくされます。それをライダーが感じるか否かは別として、オートバイにとってはアンバランスな状態であり、旋回時の左右の操縦性の違いを生み、転がり抵抗が増し、タイヤの編摩耗の発生に繋がり、安全性にも悪影響を与えます。

If the wheel alignment is not correct, a force will act to align the front and rear wheels, forcing the vehicle to drive straight with a slight tilt, as shown in the figure below. Regardless of whether the rider feels it or not, it is an unbalanced state for the motorcycle, resulting in a difference in controllability between the left and right sides when cornering, increased rolling resistance, and lead to tread wear, which has a negative impact on safety.

後輪の車軸がずれる原因は 2つあります。1つ目は、車両メーカーで車体組み立ての際、前後のタイヤの整列（ホイールアライメント）の調整を厳密に行なっていない為で、同様に、ショップでのチェーン調整やタイヤ交換の際も調整していない為です。2つ目は、組み付けた後で、ドライブチェーンの作用によるものです。この不整列による悪影響を取り除く為には、【 前後タイヤの整列 】が必要です。また、リアタイヤ交換の際には、必ず、車軸（アクスルシャフト）の “遊び” 取りの作業が必要です。。

There are two reasons why the rear wheel axle becomes misaligned. The first is that the alignment of the front and rear tires (wheel alignment) is not adjusted when the rear wheel is installed, and the second is due to the action of the drive chain after installation.

Z900RS「持込み整備」開催決定 / Kawasaki Z900RS "Fine Maintenance" to be held!

　
オートバイをきちんと自分自身で整備したい人の要望に応える、妖怪ガレージ「持込み整備」企画に、カワサキZ900RS に乗る人から申込みがありました。

We received an application from a Kawasaki Z900RS rider for Yokai Garage's "Bring-in Maintenance" initiative, which caters to people who want to properly maintain their own motorcycles.

希望されている整備内容は『車体整体』です。オートバイの車体からストレスや歪みを取り、設計通り車体アライメントに修正して、車両本来の正しい動きと操縦性、運動能力を安全に発揮できる様にする整備の基本です。

The maintenance requested is "body chiropractic." This is the basis of maintenance, which removes stress and distortion from the motorcycle body and corrects the body alignment as designed, allowing the vehicle to safely perform its original correct movement, maneuverability, and athletic ability.

行なう『車体整体』（簡易版）のメニューは上記の通りですが、この「持込み整備」ではオーナー自身の理解と判断に基づいて、オーナー自ら整備を行なう事が一番の特徴です。もちろん、当方から工具や機材の提供やアドバイスの支援は行ないますが、上記のメニューを全て完了すると限りません。しかし、自身の手と頭を使って行なう整備は、必ず多くの知識と経験が得られますし、オートバイに、いつまでも、楽しく、安全に乗り続ける為に必要な知見が身に付くのは間違いありません。

開催日は 6月5日（水）で、結果報告 と オーナーリポート（感想文）は 約 2週間後になる予定です。 どうぞ、Z900（RS）に乗っている人はもちろんの事、オートバイを大切に、安全に乗り続けたいと願っている人は、是非、ご注目下さい。

The most distinctive feature of this "Fine Maintenance" is that the owner performs the maintenance themselves, based on their own understanding and judgment. Of course, we provide tools and equipment and advice, but it is not guaranteed that all of the above menu will be completed. However, maintenance performed with your own hands and head will definitely give you a lot of knowledge and experience, and you will undoubtedly acquire the knowledge necessary to continue riding your motorcycle safely and happily forever.
